There's a website coming soon for a more 'visual' representation of the results.

That would be:

People love Kevin the teenager and Edd, Ed and Eddy; not because they're wonderful examples of humanity but because they do things that the audience did (or do) as teenagers.

Do people love Kevin the teenager and Ed edd and Eddy? I hate them!

*edit* sorry Flan, i didnt realise that it was released 2 years ago, well the guartee is only a year so i no longer have it covered. You see i got it second hand about 8 months or summit after relase so i only had 4 months left on guarentee.

Actually, in the UK under the "Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002"

you have the legal right to:

* choose repair, replacement, partial or full refund or compensation if a fault appears within 6 years and it is reasonable for goods to last that long

However:

* goods must have been faulty at the time of purchase
* if you complain within 6 months, the retailer must prove that they were NOT faulty if they are to deny you
* after 6 months, you must prove they WERE faulty.

Proof of purchase is required, too.

One of my great-uncles did a family tree and found a mayor of Reading way back... meanwhile, my father's grandfather was Irish, most of the rest from England, meanwhile my wife has mainly Spanish descent with a hint of Argentina, so my daughter should have a good broad catch from the gene pool, which explains why she is so clever.

Do we get a little icon or picture of some kind of cup to put on our website? ^-^

Yes, when Darth Mandarb tells me the link to that gold bluecup he did for me again as I have managed to lose it...

Yufster ius right about anticipation. And the people who have said about the unknown... SO many movies are great and scary up until the bit where they try and show you the monster: The Fog included...

Powerlessness is scary, too. Its when you know that the character is about to be gutted/sliced/eaten but you can't stop it. That's why people withou mouths are scary, and being buried alive, suffocated in transparent polythene, etc.

When I've had nightmares, its not being able to escape which has sacred me most. I realy hate the movie DeTox (I've only seen up to the bit where Sly's wife gets killed) becuase he is powerless to stop the killer who phones him from outside his home where he is about to kill the wife...

Maybe a game in which the mouse cursor slows down as the bad guy gets close, so you are desperately trying to stop him but your cursor is like stuck in the mud...

EDIT: On the other hand, Nelly Furtado's Powerless rocks...

Anyway,  if you tell people not to post in Games in Production, they'll just clog up Critics Lounge instead.

Why not have a Demo forum, just for people to post demos in. That way you can still have GiP and ahve demos and DG  can have an easier life? Better do it soon so that not too many GiP demos are "lost" for the 2004 awards...

Any chance that we can stick to the topic, guys?

General Discussion / FOREGO results
Mon 26/01/2004 13:06:32
To summarise:

Eric Feurstein and Scorpiorus take two FOREGOs each. An Australian, a Welshman, a Spainard take awards and oldies DaveGilbert and m0ds are rewarded too...

Check it out over in AGS Talk & Chat...

THE RESULTS!

At last, the FOREGOs are finished and the results are counted. 49 lovely people sent me their 447 votes over the 11 categories and here are the final results:

CJ's best deed of 2003 was, by a long margin, Breathing and being Awesome. So CJ, just keep inhaling and exhaling and we'll be happy! (nomination by Yufster, OTG and ._.)

The best moderator is a man who many have confused for a woman, thanks to his avatar. Yes, it's everyone's favourite time traveller: Mr Colossal (lets see if I can spell it right this time)

Next up comes the best "n00b" helper in the Beginners Tech forum. Despite strong competition (ie me :)  oh yeah and some other guys), this goes to Scorpiorus.

Now we come to the "best unimplemented suggestion". Now, despite Lens Flare having multiple nominations, another suggestion captured people imaginations and had the largest winning margin (22 votes!) of any category: Character animation preview (nomination by DGMacphee)

The best Tech Forum contribution was a close fought thing: it was tied on 16 votes each to Proskrito and Scorpiorus before last weekend began... but the weekend voting has handed it to Scorpiorus his second award!

Now come the Critics Lounge awards: split into helpful musician and helpful artist.

Despite there being 6 nominees in this category all the helpful artists recieved a healthy bunch of votes, so they should all be congratulated on the work that they do helping people. But one guy stood out with more votes, and I think that most of us owe our walkcycles to his tutorials... yes, Eric does it again as MrColossal takes the helpful artist award.

As for the musicians: again they all do a great job with their help to folks, but in this category one person has obviously spent far too much time doing other people's music and not enough developing Fountain of Youth: yes, it's m0ds!

Now comes the first of the "chat" categories: judged not necessarily on helpfulness but on general contribution to a forum. AGS Talk & Chat is our adventure-related forum and once again I was nominated. It just shows the quality of the other nominees when you realise that I came last with only 5 votes! This category ius another of the close-run ones but in the end, DGMacphee pipped the others to the post.

Now we have awards for the efforts made by people in two of the less-visited forums, which was reflected in the vote counts here. Still, there was a decent haul and everyone nominated here had a good count of votes too:

Best constructive criticism in the Games in Production forum goes to Dave Gilbert, who doesn't post a great deal but it obviosuly counts when he does.

And the most helpful hinter has been chosen to be a real afficionado: AGA

Finally, the second "chat" award, for General Discussion contribution was another close-fought battle. But it seems that one man's efforts to rouse the hispanic vote succeeded and thanks to the support of pretty much anyone who speaks Spanish on the forums, Farlander takes the FOREGO.

It is a great shame not to reward the runners-up, who are greatly deserving too, but I will be contacting the winners so they can sort out their custom forum titles.

Thanks and see you next year (if I can't fob it off on to someone else)

Don't forget to vote: If your vote is not in by the time I close voting (which will actually be about  midday GMT on Monday) then it won't count, so get those votes in and join the 50 or so others who have voted!

Still some categories are neck-and-neck, so every vote counts!

Thanks, the picture is much better, but a bit mannish as you say... I need the love interest to be a total babe! (for realism, obviously!) Maybe its the chin...

I also forgot to say that she needs to be the same height as Horemheb...

Silly me!

I'd really appreciate that cloak walkcycle, if you can find it.

While we're at it, here's another bug:

If you have a #define in your global header with a Tab character on the last line just after the symbol name, it doesn't get declared.

I know that that is pretty specific, but I can't spend all day finding other cases where it fails: it doesn't seem to fail on a tab earlier in the file for me!

e.g.

#define SHIELD_CHATtab               5
fails but
#define SHIELD_CHAT               5
if OK!!!!

This is Princess Mutnodjmet, Horemheb's love interest in the Awakening of the Sphinx game. I need help!

1. OK, her head is taken from a photo and I drew the body. How can I get them to match better?
2. How does a walkcycle look in a skirt? ANyone have any examples or tutorials?
3. DO you think she matches the style of the main char?
4. What would be a good dimunitive for her, as Mutnodjmet is a bit of a mouthful!

Mutnodjmet:

Main char (Horemheb):

Any help is much appreciated!

Let's face it: every nation is a mongrel nation. Britian has ancestors from Turkey (Celts), Germany(Angles, Saxons), France (Normans), Italy (Romans), Scandinavia(Norse, Vikings, Danes), Ireland(Picts, Scoti, Attacotti)... some of those came from other places before that.

So I propose that we never label anyone or the popualtion of any country because it is wildly inaccurate, no matter how convenient it may be when referring to people in some kind of general terms. The only acceptable terms will be Pangeans or Edenites, since we all came from one of these originally...

* SSH  wonders if Lorena knows about Nacho's tendency to put on women's underwear...

And Ali's lion cub is scary: it can turn someone into a lapdog for George Bush!
#4677
You should really come up with a title for this game: it looks great. How about:

"Eclair case of negligence" or better still...
"The Choux bomber"

That has to be the best pun ever! You see, there was this terrorist who said he had a bomb in his shoe... and shoe sounds like "choux" which is the type of pastry used for eclairs...

Oh never mind...

Bloom wasn't amused, and tacitly replied "I have a girlfriend" when reporters queried him on it.

Since the OT was things that are WRONG, I'd like to point out that you can't tacitly reply. TACIT MEANS YOU DON'T SPEAK. Bloody aussies corrupting the English language, etc. etc....

This has been a public service announcement.

Well, then the manual should say "The key next to 1" (~ on some keybaords) instead of the other way around...

Yeah, imagine having two cars IN YOUR HOUSE?

It would make my mouth open with horror, too.

Actually, some folks around the corner from us had a lorry in their house. They live at the bottom of a hill and a lorry was delivering stuff to the pub 20 meters up the hill and must have left the brake off... it smashed through their garden wall and into the house. The house is now being repaired... looks like quite a major job.
