I downloaded the fixed version, but I still cant just Use the pill bottle... does it work for you, Yufster?

Also, hobo isn't fixed in the intro!

Why not dump all text into a file and run a spell checker on it?

Fizz, if you're happy enough getting a bit of metal through your privates then I wouldn't worry about there being anything behind the forehead that might get damaged in a piercing.

SSH crosses his legs and winces

Pretty please upload the latest fixed version?

Here's some more bugs from you no-so-secret tester:

Spoiler

In the first screen once you are asleep, walk to stairs should work as well as use. Also, Ian floats above the stairs.

As Dave said, why does Ian start going on about the Gouda when you talk to the guy in the pub. Some back story is missing, or I shouldn't have had that dialog option available until I did something else...

The town on the mountain should have bigger hotspots for the places: its a bit of a pixel hunt

The "barman" looks like a woman! And you forgot the "return" in one of your dialog options and it runs through to the next one!

Oh, and turn off your main GUI during dialogs

The metal lead is not spelt "led": that's the stuff you get inside pencils

mannequin, mannikin, manakin, manikin are all correct spellings, but I prefer the first one...

When you look at the shoe mannequin in the shoe shop, Ian should trun to look at it first, and even better get a bit closer to it if required. Maybe he can see through the shoe rack?

The area to leave the shoe shop is pretty small, you have to click right on the edge (not good if windowed)

Reading the shoe shop banner gives some wierd numbers (this might be deliberate)

and i accidentally gave the laxatives to the bird so upload that darned fixed version!

You quit by pressing CTRL+Q. F5 and F7 are Load/Save respectively. Basically, I didn't add a nice load/save feature :)

but that's going in the manual that you're going to write, isn't it? ;D
no, no... you're final version will have this fixed, too!

5. SHH is now credited.

I hope you spelled it right!

I'll wait, see what other bugs appear, and fix them to upload the finished version.

I don't want to be a bother, but people are far more likely to play the game, and thus find any lurking bugs, if you upload a fixed version.
#4826
These kinds of things might be fixed if you re-install DirectX and/or graphics drivers.

I wanna get my final versions uploaded before nominations begin! Will this weekend be too late?!?!?! I REALLY wanna give my babies the best possible chance this time around!

Well, since the web page says that nominations start on the 1st January, I'll leave you to work out whether this weekend is soon enough...  ::)

General Discussion / Nominate CJ for an OBE
Tue 25/11/2003 19:43:02
Seriously, anyone can be nominated for an OBE here: http://www.cabinet-office.gov.uk/ceremonial/index/nomination.htm

Teh CJ deserves it far more than any Civil Servant Sir Humphrey types. So, if you want to write a letter of recommendation to back-up his nomination, let me know!

The technical archive is here: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=10
but I think Inkoddi meant the beta thread here: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=9025

The 2.6 beta does TTF outlining

Guests cannot send private messages, and I think his problem is with logging on after registering! So Scummy's sugestion would not work. However, try this link's suggestions, which use the same BB system

QuoteAlso, these days, having up the script editor doesn't stop you from doing things in the main window anymore... when did that change?

erm, 2.56 I think.

Damn! and i'd been quitting the editor all this time! It's a great feature, CJ... thanks for putting that in! Sorry for the lateness!

Related to the anti-aliasing disabled for text over transparent GUIs to avoid the pink effect:

Would it work if the TTF was auto-outlines to first draw the outline with AA turned off and then draw the real characters with AA turned on?

Just an idea...

EDIT:

Won't a SetCharacterScaling command be very hard to make? It seems that way 2me.

Shhh! don't try and put him off doing it!  >:(  ::)

My wife would love that kind of thing, Jannar, but obviously I can't speak for your g/friend. How about a CD with a specially made game for her burned on to it? My wife really loved the games I made for her, despite what others may think of them! Know your target market...!

But then if a gift comes from the heart and has obviously had a lot of thought go into it, there are only two possibilities:

1. She will love it
2. She will want something more expensive, in which case she is a mercenary slapper and you should dump her
;)
If it was a girl giving a gift to a guy, there would be a third option
3. He will be scared off by your over-sentimentality and would get plastic surgery to avoid being stalked.

I hope that my gift to CJ won't hit that third category: I really think that the red lace will suit him...

The little of the game I've seen so far is very atmospheric.

A few things, though --

1. I was mildly annoyed that I couldn't skip any of the lines in the intro cutscene.

2. Whether directed at a hotspot or an inventory item, the LOOK AT command rarely elicits a response of any sort.

3. How do you eat the sleeping pills? I can't just USE them, USE them on myself, on the empty pill bottle, or anything.

I second each of these points exactly. The number of "dead" hotspots made it feel like Syberia! I also like to skip text generally (I haven't tried reloading a game yet) and how  the hopping heck do you take the sleeping pills?

I know that you're probably fed up of it by now, but these comments are only there because IT SEEMS SO GREAT: JUST A LITTLE MORE and you will have perfection.

Are you looking for bug reports/typos, or would you rather not know about them?

Spoiler

There's only one B in hobo

* Added auto-complete for plugin functions and functions defined in the script header.

This only works for the first function/variable on each "import" line in the header, subsequent ones on the same line are not completed.

Friends of mine enjoy driving out to an old abandoned air-strip outside of town,

They are just hoping that they get caught up in a story. "The old abandoned airstrip outside of town" must be one of the calssic cliche settings for genre movies...

I am developping the action sequence for one of our top developers' new games, and it is swordfighting. Part of the brief is: "Like Fate of Atlantis fighting, but with swords". Unfortunately, I have never played said game.

So, can someone who has done some scripting please describe to me how it works in FoA? Whatever you do, please don't PM me a download of the game. That would be like stealing.  ;)

Seriously, though, I doubt tha tI'll have time to play the game enough to get to the fighting bit...

If you look in the global script once you ahve started a game with the templates, you will see that Proskito put in stuff for Spanish translations, so just add in stuff for German... search for "translation" or "Spanish" int he global script.
