Have you tried my SpriteFonts module? It sounds like just what you need.

AGS, however, is made of wintermute

??? ??? :o :o !!!!111!

Not sure why "funky" would be prohibited unless there's a meaning of that word like "obscene".

Dualnames: of course I want something, thats what this thread is about!

Strange: end of the month would be best. I can take high-res or lo-res graphics: I'll probably scale things to fit anyway.

I've instituted a "most cheated" poll for the nominations over on my blog in case you wish to vent your frustrations there. Winner will be made the next Pick of the Month unless they've already been it.

PM me for the surprise by preference, but I'll take stuff from this thread too.

Oh and obviously I especially need stuff from the nominees themselves !

Indeed, Progz is right (overzealous at what?) but I also don't see how the other possibilities for the vote would make it more valid or more respected outside AGS or anything...

What I am saying is that, with the current system, we couldn't really spot if someone was engaged in such practice and, conversely, we couldn't prove that someone wasn't. So when a game does really well at the nomination stage or the end voting stage, it wouldn't take much for someone, who may feel they were unfairly overlooked, to cry "Fix!". And we have nothing in place to repute such accusations except the hope that our community wouldn't go in for such shenanigans. Admittedly, as far as I know, this has never actually happened. Maybe I'm just overly cynical.

Well, I can see the IP address, username and votes of everybody who has voted...

A once-yearly competition with the prize of your stuff appearing in the AGS Awards ceremony game and your name in the credits thereof! Well, the rubbish backdrops for the 2007 AGS Awards were drawn by myself with the aid of google images. This year we can do better! Try and keep sizes and perspective "standard", please! I am looking for:

1. Inside of the venue where the awards are presented: we can see stage and some audience, perhaps

2. Other views inside the auditorium: perhaps a close up of your favourite AGS character (or forum member) in the audience picking his nose or reacting to an award, etc. Or the high-up shot when we go to commercials

3. Some commercials for a commercial break, perhaps? These are low-priority.

4. Outside the venue, the red carpet as the stars arrive.

5. The stars arriving on the red carpet

6. If you want your character to talk to our Joan Rivers-alike, give us some dialgoue lines, too if you like. And voice acting!

7. Or your character can present an award if you like, if you do an animation thereof and some dialogue too if you so desire

8. Background music anyone? Fanfares, that kind of thing

9. Anything else you can think of.

Originality is not important: feel free to recycle that funny animation from your game or just give me your character's walkcycle, or modifying things slightly. I'm looking for quality and quantity!

Finally, you can post here in this thread or PM me: obviously the latter will retain the surprise for other AGSers when they see it. Also, all decent entries will receive a plastic imitation AGS Award that they can put in their signature as a trophy!

Perhaps, next time, if someome took it upon themselves to do the rounds, visiting other forums and plugging the AGS awards.

As a slightly-active member of the AdventureGamers forums I considered this, but getting other forum members coming over and signing up just so that they could vote would possibly be counter-productive and could lead to the kind of "fanboi" nominating for every category that people have been speaking out against. If the problem is that most AGSers don't play enough of a cross-section of the games then getting outsiders in would hardly help. That also applies, to a lesser extent, to inactive forum members.

Well let's see, what will Hamas get out of this?

- More public support for their philosophy (i.e. jews == bad)

I can't speak for anywhere except the people I know, but they seem to have swayed more to the "Israeli government == bad" rather than the racist "jews == bad". As has been seen the the UK and US during Iraq, what a government does is not necessarily representative of what their people want, and nor is "Israeli citizens" the same thing as "Jews". I don't think its helpful to try and turn this into, or accuse anyone of, anti-semitism (especially as arabs are semites too!)

Take a look at the Hypertext.Say function in my Hypertext module and you'll see that I effectively have to completely reimplement the dialog display system... so maybe you can modify my code to give you what you want?

Every year people have suggested this happens and they underestimate their peers on the forums: in looking at the actual votes in previous years I can see that this hardly happens at all. I can't see the nominations in the same way this year, but I can see the final votes, so I'm sure that it won't happen again (it hasn't so far).
#574
As in previous years minimum of 3 votes required for a game to be nominated and some of the less-than-5s are down to too-complex tied votes for 5th place (on 4 votes each so just above the threshold anyway)
#575
OK, the final voting is now open (CJ or another mod, can you update the first page, please?)

Vote here!
#576
Well, that was.... interesting...

I'll try and get a vid on youtube soon. Meanwhile... take a peek here!

Nominations to be announced live on stickam at 4:45pm GMT (i.e. in 15 minutes sorry for short notice!) and hopefully to be youtubed shortly after:

Frankly, the other team tends to like getting in the way of bombs to collect their virgins, and ensuring that Israel constantly has bad PR.

Yes, of course this is nothing to do with Israel's own actions. They'd have deliberately missed their targets if only those darn Palestinians didn't keep throwing themselves in front of the missles and bullets at the last millisecond.

OK, here's how I think the schedule will go:

Nominations close tonight at midnight GMT. I'll announce the nominations on a Stickam conference room on Saturday somewhen, then hopefully post a text list and youtube vid later.

There will then be 3 weeks or so until final voting closes. It may take CJ a few days to get the voting page finalized, I guess, but voting will then close and I'll pass the results to m0ds and try and get the ceremony game ready to be released at the same time as the ceremony, which I guess will be around 8pm on a Saturday (14th Feb?) based on previous years...
