Heh, I was stuck here too becuase:
Spoiler

I know how electrical light wiring really works and turning the switch off would not make the wires safe to cut or rip off the wall...  ::)

Spoiler

Yes it would - the wire is going from the switch to the bulb  :P

Spoiler

No it wouldn't: the 2 wires to a one-way light switch are always both live: the switch simply breaks the live continuity. Turning off the switch simply stops one of the wires from being live. See http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/lightcircuit.htm for more details...

1. Dangerous Seduction :  awesome, apart from a slightly dodgy sax sample
2. Moment of Delight: awesome sax sample, and pretty good
3. Lola : very Twin-Peaks-y

* Added 1024x768 resolution support.

Have you added a new option to the games database pages? ;)

The Rumpus Room / Re: The AGS Stickam Room

If people enter the current URL in http://ssh.me.uk/stickamurl.php then http://ssh.me.uk/stickam.php should redirect to the chatroom...

That's not a quirk, adventuregamestudio.co.uk just loads the site in a frame. You shouldn't really use it if you know the real site/forums domain, only if the forums disappear for some reason.
Funny, the redirect page when the forums moved said the exact opposite...

I think a bit more context is required, such as whne the problem occurs a bit more specifically that "sometimes". Is there any room/situation when you can always make it happen?

It might help if we knew which script name the girl had...

I think some of the female game makers are underrated... some people may think that their games are popular just because of the "OMG! Girl!" factor, but actually Cirque, Spooks and Nanobots are great games.

General Discussion / Re: Bad Phrasing?

A lady friend of mine is of home to get felt, laid, on her roof... oops, forget the commas...

Who can forget the classic epsiode of "Give us a Clue" when Lionel Blair pulled off 12 Angry Men in under two minutes?

A workaround to changing some of the setup things dynamically would be being able to hard-restart the game so that we could write code to edit the setup cfg and then restart to re-read it.

Edit: If you're using AGS 3.03 beta 1, it fixes a bug in the handling of DynamicSprites as object graphics, so you should be able to uncomment this line which creates problems in older AGS versions:

Code: ags
//if (jigsaw_shadowsprite != null) jigsaw_shadowsprite.Delete();

You could surround that with #ifver 3.03...#endif to make that happen automatically (check the syntax cause that's off the top of my head!)

As far as scripting goes, couldn't someone create a module which would allow you to have the old commands and functions and to work the same way? I agree, just when I started getting used to the language, it changed. But thats the way it is I guess.

Since AGS 2.70, and still in AGS 3.02 you can still use the old commands if you look in the "Scripting" section of the General Settings you'll see the "Enforce object-based scripting" and "Enforce new style strings" which you can turn off...

EDIT: ooops, sorry for the DP

Is there a transition guide from AGS 2.72 to AGS 3? That might be pretty handy. Maybe the question pops up the first time when you run the AGS Editor.

RTFM! (that webpage is in the manual, too)

And this may be a small thing, but even the options tree being on the opposite side of the screen irks the shit out of me.
I realise there is probably a way to change these, but I haven't looked... since I don't use it.
Sure is:

It HAS to run in a window when using the debugger, so that you can use the debugger. As the pic above shows, you can change its behaviour when NOT using the debugger...

Any chance you could post your IRC client code (or PM it to me), scotch? no point re-inventing the wheel, after all...
