Wow!Ã,  Thanks for all the input.Ã,  Those paint-overs have given me a bit to think about.Ã,  Yes ProgZmax - Ben Throttle did influence the character somewhat.Ã,  I imagined the merc. character would be similar in appearance (big and unshaven).

Hi All,

I've been working on some characters designed for 320x200 game screens and would like some feedback.

This one is supposed to be a sci-fi mercenary type character.Ã,  Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

sorry about that - it's tough to find a reliable free host

Hi all,

just to let you know there is now a demo available for download (see original post).

Well, I've had some set-backs but my webite is finally up and the demo almost ready.Ã,  Anyone who is interested can check out the new screenshots etc.Ã,  at

Thanks for your feedback.  I sketch my pics out, then scan and colour them
using Paint Shop Pro.  I then go over it with the airbrush tool with a low
opacity setting to create a smooth blending effect.

You're right about the foreground lighting - there's more I should probably
do like add a few shadows in and soften the edge between the base of the
tree and the dirt.  Most of the detailing for my screens should be sorted out in time for the demo.

Hi,

I finally have a demo ready to go.Ã,  The website is having a few issues at the moment
so an alternative set of links are available below.Ã,  It's a 3-part rar achive so just download
all 3 files into the same directory and double-click on the exe to extract the files.

I would put time estimations in here but I'm not sure of my plans for the rest of the game
yet.

Hi All...

I've been working on a demo for a game I've designed. Ã, So here it is.

X-Missions: Pacific Islands revolves around the main character Jake Hunter,
A technical specialist for an anti-terrorism team whos job it is to travel the world
tracking down targets no matter where or what the task.

This particular mission involves the team tracking down a known terrorist
organisation to a location in the Pacific Islands. Ã, It is believed the organisation's
HQ is based on a small island somewhere and they have in their control a weapon
accused of knocking out satellites and destroying cities. Ã,

Your job is to locate and destroy this weapon as well as uncovering the identity of the mysterious head of the organisation.

Final game features:

- classic 320x200 resolution art in high colour
- multiple game locations including beach front, forrests,
Ã, mountain tops, underwater scenes and a huge underground complex.
- Linear and non-linear gameplay;
- over 40 screens and just as many puzzles
- ability to pick up character "friends" along the
Ã, way to aid you in your mission.

thanks for all your input.  I'll re-work the pic. with your suggestions and add a few animations in.

yep - I've animated the ocean in the previous beach background and added some  sounds of the waves breaking onto the beach and some jungle sounds, but for this screen I was thinking of adding some small birds flying around the trees in the backgorund.  The main area of interest is the tree/coconuts and the rock so I don't want to add in too much to distract the player away from this.

Hi All,

I've just finished a second background of a beach shore and would appreciate any
cc/advice on it.

Cheers.

I drew the original on paper (sketch), then outlined the rocks, plants and trees
and some other detailing with a black marker.  I scanned it in and went to work with the colours, experimenting until I was happy with the basic pallette.  To smooth it over I used the airbrush tool in paint shop pro, lowering the hardness and opacity to get a nice blending effect, and performed quick dashes across the areas that needed it.

hehe, I didn't actually see like that when I drew it but you're right it looks like the middle finger.   Anyway, I added some blue to the walk-behind area and added in a few extra touches and it seemed to improve the look quite a bit, in fact looking at it now it could probably
use more blue.  Thanks for that.
