When watching german tv, I always think the voices are always the same , and that takes away something beautiful from a movie.
That's right. I think there aren't enough 'synchronizer' for the movies. If we wouldn't have such a bad situation at the moment I would like to make the rule that every actor gets his personal 'synchronizer'. He only is allowed to synchronize him or her and that should be until he will end working. This is only a 'dream'. I know this can't work.

Quote from: N3TGraph on Mon 19/05/2003 09:58:35It's not fair, when we go to germany, we have to speak german, else they won't understand us,
When the germans come to holland, WE have to speak german, else they won't understand us and get angry.
When you talk english to german, they don't understand.
But if Germans go to Netherlands, they have to talk Dutch or English, else it's not sure that they will be able to talk with you.
If somebody goes abroad he or she should be able to speak the language there. But what if you are forced to go there? (parents, school...) You can't learn every language.
Of course, it's not nice if Germans come to Netherlands and are not ready to talk English if they have learned it. But I think there are enough who do this, aren't there?

In Netherlands you use English more than people in Germany. I recognized that on TV Knight Rider is in English only with Dutch subtitles. I would hate it if it was so in Germany! I think synchronize it to German is a better way to do it.  Also there are a lot of jobs by this. So remember: In Germany and France the native language is more important than a foreign language.

English is OK as a language to communicate world-wide. But I also think the English people shouldn't become the lords with their language. I think every language has got the right to exist. So every text shall be translated in these languages if there is a volunteer translator for that.

CHRIS JONES, if you are reading this message PLEASE make a category for translated games. And to all again: We should discuss about giving an award if people have got a game which is playable in many languages. The translation must be complete. There are also some interface problems which can cause that the game cannot be translated completely. But I now trick for this. Also if the game uses image buttons.

You had bad experiences with Germans. But maybe you have understood me wrong. I only want that the English people give me the posibility to translate the game by MYSELF. I don't want that they translate it by theirselves.

By the way, not everyone can learn foreign languages good. For example my brother. He would play a game only if it would have a German translation. Probably you aren't or weren't very good in every subject at school. So give Germans the posibility to play it in their own language. Do you think Chris Jones made the translate function for nothing?

Yes, I have to learn English. Today you need this. But isn't it a way of learning English if I translate a game? And it's also helpfull to compare the both versions. So the German and English players can learn the foreign language, too.

I can understand if you need help with games. The only problem is that people don't want to paint only for you. They want to paint AND to program the game.

I also can't paint very good like many other people. So I think a kit with backgrounds, character images and so one would be a good help for beginners. I think at the Critics Lounge there was something like that.

I would like to make a German translation of your game if you are finished. I would also like to do a voice acting in German. If you want I'll do this in English (if I can speak the words enough good for you).

You should put a link to that what you've already done. And if it would be only the story. I can't joint to a team if I don't know what the game is about. You needn't to publish the whole story if you are afraid of that people will steal it.

I wish you a lot of luck making your game.

That's what you think. But I think a translation is necessary, because without it I'm not able to understand as much of the game as when there would be a good German translation.

I hope everybody understands it now. I as an abroad boy can not have as much fun than the English people, because there's no translation.

Pleurghburg: Dark Ages isn't translated. I donwloaded it and I found no possibility to change the language. So I was right when I said that only 2 games have got a translation file at the moment.

Authors, PLEASE let translate your games! It would be great if on some day only every third game isn't translated into at least three languages.

And please Chris, make a category for translated games.

I'm German and so I'm interested in games which have got a German translation files. But until now I could only find two games which uses translation files. So what about a category for translated games? In this category the author should say which translations his or her game does support.

By the way, I want to say that you should translate your game by any translators. There are so much translators around here who wants to translate any games. What about the idea of an award for games which have got much translations? I would think that would motivate the people to do that more.

What do you think about that all?

PLEASE DON'T POST HERE IF YOU want to TRANSLATE a game. You can do that in the topic "Offer your service".

Please read more careful!

Hmm.... it's very hard to make font by myself with this program. Could anybody send me a standard SCSI font that I could change? My mail: SimSaw@web.de

Hi, Chris. Please look at my topic "I need help with ttf fonts". Thanks!

I have contacted him and he sent me the TTfs. But the outline font is not compatible with the other ones if I take another resolution than 320*200.  >:( Could Chris Jones or somebody else PLEASE make TTF files for people from non-speaking countrys that works with all resolutions?

Do you want me to build a *.chm file with the manual files?

Can you tell me where I can find a free program to convert several HTMLs to chm?

Here you can ask for translators which should translate your game.

I've started this topic, because I've only found ONE game which is translated and because my hobby is translating (I can translate from English to German). Maybe I'll start a theme 'Offer your service as translator' but then we would probably have to much 'main topics'.

Alright, handing the source code is not the right method for translating the game so I changed the rules:

The translators should look here if they want to translate a good game. They should get a translation where the author makes some notes for the translator where he thinks that he'll have problems. Then the translator tries to translate it and makes a mark above the sentences on which he has problems with translating (for example: '##' he can also ask a question. So it's sure he get the asked information). Then they shall get the game (if they can't download the latest version) with the translation file to correct some mistakes.

Pay attention to this points:

If there is an image with text you should also let it translate by your translator and use it with the Gettranslation function. If you don't know how to use it please post in an extra topic

Here's much about translation but not much about voice actor. But people who need a voice actor also welcome! I'm waiting for your posts!

Feel free to post here for a translation or a voice actor if:
-...your game is good and not senseless
-...it is not something with nacys (like in Robert Redford)
-...it's already finished

PLEASE DON'T POST HERE IF YOU want to TRANSLATE a game. You can do that in the topic "Offer your service". In this topic the translators should contact the person who wants the translation, but not the oposite.

I found StS 1 & 2  very good! I planned to make a film out of all 3 games, but I noticed that I don't have the time (school) nor the equipment (camera, good capture program...) to do that. Maybe some day I will be able to do that. If you want to help me then email me: SimSaw@web.de

StS 3D wasn't as good than 1 & 2 with the grafic. But I think the history of the game is quite OK, but it wasn't so good as I thought. What I hate most: The game end in the same way than the second game: To be continued. Simon is now in this strange world and has drunk in this games only a cup of coffee some soda bottles and only eaten a fruit. If Simon had come and mysteriously came back it would be better. I hope the next game will have a good end but it shouldn't be the last one.

Look! They show us what we should do with our games! Translate them!

I am German and because I don't understand English perfect I tried to contact some authors which have made good games, but till now I coudldn't finde ONE game which I could translate. The authors should more look for translators even if they speak English. The peoples from other countries will say 'thank you' to them.

By the way, does anyone know how I could get contact to the authors of this game? I want to write them that they should make their game with voice. I would help them with that. Maybe soon the game will have speech.vox for all translations.

I'm German, so I need the letters ä ö ü ß Ã,, Ö and Ü. But in the standard fonts of AGS they aren't supported so I tried to import normal ttfs that windows has got. But I don't have the fitting outline font files  for that. Could anybody send me the 3 files so that they support this letters?
