Minimi: I think the melody is very nice already, you don't have to add another one. And about the instruments, as you've changed them all to strings, you could add another instrument (or instruments) to double the melody. The same goes for the harmony. It might sound nice with a solo wind instrument, or a french horn an octave lower for the melody. And arpeggiated chords in the harp might be nice as well. You obviously don't have to, but sticking to standard orchestral instruments would probably sound the best.

And about making it longer, you can repeat the melody with different orhestration, or just start a new idea (but similar to the first). And you could play with the dynamics too. It might be cool if this slow mysterious theme crescendoed into a more grandiose theme (which you could call the main theme), or whatever might suit the overall atmosphere of the game. I dunno, just ideas. Good luck!

Well the one in California is the original so it's the best.   ;)

How would they translate "Drink up me 'earties yo ho!" into French?

National Anthems can be catchy, maybe this one is too.

I could be wrong but I think most pirates are european, so a game about pirates would most likely have the majority of the characters white. And so I guess only the "natives" would be black. Actually, since I'm not very good with dates I'm not really sure, but Monkey Island may have taken place in the same time period as when slave trade started in the West Indies, so there would be few blacks, and most would be slaves. I'm also assuming that blacks came to the Caribbean through slave trade, but that could be wrong also. I guess history's not my forte. :)

Also the Voodoo lady is black, and more of a major character since she's in the other games also. But she's also a huge stereotype, whereas the Swordmaster isn't at all really.

Captain Blood is a movie also, as far as I know.

Trap: same here.

I don't know if this constitutes being hidden but:

Spoiler
The whole undead pirate thing could have come from Monkey Island. I haven't been on Pirates of the Caribbean in a couple of years, but I recall one scene with a skeleton at the helm of a ship, and that was it for undead pirate references. I don't remember anything else, although I could be forgetting something.

I met Mickey Mouse.

My sisters also met that girl from American Dreams. I think her name's Meg on the show. They went to some dance studio and she was there taking a class.

You're right, but what I was saying is that is was way more less tolerated back then than it is now. Now it is more tolerated and is way more open and exposed.

No uh it was generally accepted then (ie in the times of ancient Greece and Rome which I think is what eric was referring to), and it probably all changed when Christianity became established in those areas. But that was also a long time ago. Bah I dunno, I guess it's not important.  :)

It's great! It has a nice light-hearted feel, which, after seeing some of the art to your game, fits very nicely. It's also easy to listen to so I wouldn't get annoyed with it if it was repeated in the background.  ;D

Now back to the stereotype.  I live near San Francisco (within 30 miles) and have done so for about 20 years.  I think I've seen two men hold hands in public twice now.  For a city that is supposed to be filled to overflowing with gay males, it seems unusual that not much of the population wears blinding colors, spends hours on their hair, or speaks with a lisp.  Go figure.  Maybe the approximated 30% homosexual population of the San Francisco Bay Area are all hiding in gay-bars or something.

Hmmm, maybe they all moved to West Hollywood, or "boy's town" as it's referred to.

And anyway, I think the popular stereotype of gay men has changed to big muscular men with pretty faces. Camp is still around, but it's not as common, and definately not as attractive (it's another stereotype that gay men have a huge sex drive, even moreso than straight horny teenagers. Well, on par at least).

I'm only working on one project but I can't really find much time to work on it with all this darn college search stuff. Maybe next summer I'll have more free time (if I don't get a job, which I'll probably have to).  ;)

Does anyone in the game actually have narcolepsy?

Yeah and on the whole gay subject, apparently a lot of women like to see two guys kissing and whatnot, just like guys like lesbians.

Wagner wrote tons books on non-musical subjects that influenced Hitler. He was big into anti-semitism, but I haven't really read any of his political stuff. But his writings were very influential on lots of people, not just Hitler. Plus he was a better writer than Hitler also.

What about Brave New World? That's a pretty good book, and I think it was the first to really describe that kind of a futuristic negative utopia. I guess it's not all that important though.

Well, to quote Minimi's avatar: "I'm sad that I'm flying"

I hope that helps.

The Laura Bow series is one of my favorites, I guess the Dagger of Amon Ra more than the first. It had a better story anyway. LSL is great also, but just the first three, the others were kind of dumb, but amusing in their own sort of way. LSL3 was my favorite, it's so great! I think that game has some of my favorite copy protection stuff. Follow the bouncing fruit!

I think he's working on that GAC game, I don't remember anything about it though. Maybe it's on the website.
