All I know is that family matters...

Edit: Darn, I can't even get my TV theme songs right.

Well I'm no computer expert, but something similar happened to me also. Whenever I started my computer about 10 error messages popped up that said some program performed an illegal operation, and most of them were system files. It turns out I had a virus that was infecting them all (somewhere in the thousands of system files), so if you have a viruscan this post probably wasn't much help. But maybe it's due to a virus.

Do you want, for instance, an entire piece of music orchestrated to large proportions, or just a theme repeated a couple of times? Because I started orchestrating a piano sonata and wondered if that was the sort of thing you were looking for.  ;D

Hmmm, was this a necessary thread to start? Somehow I don't think so...

Quid est? Nomen tibi est? Nomen mihi Nick(em) est. Ludum faciendus es, ubi conficitur. Fabula de filio reginae est quo feminam amat. Omnia faciet eam servare malo.

Uh, it's not really a second language, but...

I wanted to be an Archaeologist, Egyptologist, Anthropologist, and/or expert on African religion. All the subjects still interest me, but I doubt I'll actually accomplish anything in those fields.

The game was interesting (I didn't really understand a few of the background scenes). I didn't like a lot of the dialog though; the main character and the wife beater seemed too happy. I think you used the exclamation point too much.

The thing is though, that since it's an artistic game it's hard to criticize because the fact that it's artistic is an excuse for all its shortcommings. There's no animation, minimal background interaction, inconsistent art style, and things like that. But I can think of several excuses for each one of these because it was an artistic choice (but that's just my assumption, and is why you can't really criticize it).
I don't think I got a lot out of this game though, besides a general atmosphere.

Which is ironic because I choose the songs that reminded me of death and depression -- I had more but they simply would have been overkill.

You make some other points about atmosphere, but I can't really say much else of the same topic as I believe atmosphere is something subjective.

I find this curious because when I listen to Pachelbel's canon or Bach's air I definately don't think of death and depression. They're more uplifting than a lot of the music I've heard, but as you said, atmosphere is subjective. I just found it interesting.

QuoteDada on the other hand is trying to be "art" just for the sake of being "art"

Strange that that is the motto of MGM. "Ars gratia artis"

What? I don't think the intent of this thread is to discuss the subject, but post links to previous threads.

I was really interested in this story, until the end that is. But I guess that's why I didn't like The Blair Witch Project either.

If you like paintball so much why don't you try hunting Bambi...

Ok, it's an insane psychotic polka. You've been warned.

Ghormak: :) I did like it though!

It sounds good, although I'm a little confused as to why you wrote this. But as for criticism, I'd say you used WAY too much pedal, especially if you want it to sound like Mozart.

Doesn't anybody get sick of this?

I think his pant legs are too short. You could try lengthening them so they touch his shoes.

Cool! Good luck on your bidding endeavors.

That was crazily awesome! It did remind me a lot of Myst though.

Plus, Mittens is underway, so I guess you'll be seeing lots of updates on that in the AGS gen forum.

Well, I'm technically a professional pianist (that's cool to say!), since I get paid for it regularly. I live about 100 ft away from a church and they lost their pianist for the choir, which coincidentally was my old piano teacher, who lived about 100 ft away in the other direction. She moved because she was old and wanted to be closer to family. So the church needed a new pianist; I guess they didn't have one for a long time after that. The pastor called me and asked if I'd do it and I said yeah (hey, money for something that I do anyway, cool). It's (obviously) only once a week but I get paid enough to buy stuff, so it works out good. Woo.

Player clicks on cliff, character walks over to cliff
Player clicks on cliff again, character teeters precariously on the edge
Player clicks on cliff again, character begins to lose footing
Player clicks on cliff again, character falls to his bloody doom and the game displays an error message saying "YOU ARE A BIG IDIOT.  WHY ARE YOU USING A COMPUTER?"

Hahaha! That reminds me of LSL2 when you're walking along this really narrow path and it's almost impossible to stay on the path, but when you fall off, the game dislpays something like "woah, that was a close one", and you don't die, but it keeps giving you points (for surviving I guess). It's like Al Lowe was making fun of the way characters die in an adventure game. Hilarious  :D
