Make music based on this character. It can be a theme or some form of cutscene music containing this character. Have fun!

Woopsie, sorry I was on break from school and didn't really have access to the internet, I'll start a new one soon.

Moodyblues: I wrote it just in a notation editor but I recorded it with garritan personal orchestra. It has some nice sounds.

And thanks for picking me, I'll try to think of something good!

well, is this actually a midi file? When I click on it, media player opens and says it is not a valid file. And I tried downloading it but fortune city won't let me. Are you sure you exported it as an actual midi file?

Ok, I decided to enter this one. Enjoy all 8 seconds of it.

I like it a lot. It sounds a lot like Gabriel Knight music. What's this music for? It would be appropriate as background music in an ethnic setting.

General Discussion / Re: midi converter

That program seems to be a pretty sad attempt at converting any live recording into midi. And who knows how much worse it would do with an actual live recording, instead of a midi recorded to a wav file, as all of those mp3s are. I don't think technology is advanced enough for software like this. Don't waste money buying this product.

I think it looks really good, around the nose there are some weird dark tan lines that maybe shouldn't be there.

blackman, she looks hot? I think this was one of the ugly girls Larry slept with actually, she's supposed to be older and frumpy. I think perhaps she's too pretty in the VGA version.

Music doesn't HAVE to have a definite melody, but it seems a bit too scattered at the moment. At least use a few motives throughout it to unify it.

By scary do you mean something is happening? or is it supposed to be more of spooky/atmospheric background music? If it's the latter then it should probably be slower and more drawn out, like Damien suggested.

Also, seeing as you seem to be going for a 'somewhat' classical instrumentation, I would lose the drums, it ruins any kind of ambience you may be going for.

General Discussion / Re: Favorite Movies

The Indiana Jones movies are great. I don't know why I love watching them so much, but they never get old. I like the Mummy movies too. I think most of the old disney cartoon movies are some of my all-time favorites though, probably because of all the childhood memories and blah blah, but I dunno, I just love fairy tale stuff.

Unless that doorway is a mouse hole, the 'ark' is HUGE. It should probably be shorter than the doorway and way thinner. Also, I wouldn't call it an ark, unless it's supposedly a chest that contains the 10 commandments (there is only one ark), or it's a boat.

Well, considering this is an international message board, YOU have to change the board time in your profile to set it to your time zone.

I saw the Village too and it was pretty crap. I mean throughout the whole movie I was waiting for there to be a point... his movies are starting to be solely based on the twist, there's really nothing else in them.

The part at 20 seconds sounds better, it's more uniform.

What do you mean about the instrument slots? You have 16 channels, and each channel's instrument can be changed whenever by inserting a patch change, so you aren't stuck with the instrument you assign to a channel from the beginning. I think you'll have enough free channels to write what you want.

On my soundcard the brass melody thing doesn't seem to be loud enough, although it sounds fine on yours, but around 20 seconds the pizzicato (that quotes the indy theme) seems too loud on both my soundcard and your recording.

"I followed ya!"
"How did you get here Roger?"
"I followed ya!"

Forgive me if that isn't totally correct.
#36
Yeah, I got the same thing as hotspot.
#37
Ok, I think I was thinking of Exodus, ah whatever, I have no clue who was making that.

This one has tons of soundfonts too, but it's hard to know what some of them are since they don't really give any info on them.

This site is for Sinfonia, which is mostly orchestral instruments.

http://home.clara.net/fworld/sinfonia.htm

This is an excellent program if you want extremely realistic orchestral instruments. It's basically a VST. Only problem is it costs $250, but if you're serious about writing orchestral stuff this is definitely worth it.

I *think* Exile was written by Snake, so maybe you should ask him directly because I don't know if anyone has it posted somewhere. I think it's only a demo anyway. And I've never heard of Digital Spell. But if you're just looking to play some AGS games there are tons in the games section on the homepage.

.sfpack and .sfArk files are not soundfont types, they are just means of compression, like a zip file. Look on google for sfArk, and you should be able to find the decompression program.
