Thanks for the kind comments on music. Here's my original render of the soundtrack:

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Need any help with the game's English? I'm not a Russian speaker unfortunately, but I can at least help with the English already in the game.

Which is what I posted in the 'normal user' images above, correct?
It is, and that's what I'm getting too.

Dunno if anyone has reported this one yet (not noticed it), but I can't find any way to view my own profile.

Is all the text supposed to be centred?

Very, very nicely done artwork there, Visionmind. Quite like the inside of the Aluminium Mallard that you've done. And, well, I'd love to see a high-res Space Quest remake!

Posts have the option to add a little icon (not that people really use them very often).  We could add a couple of specific looking / offering type icons.  That, combined with a prefix like you suggested might help.

That said, the forums already have an "Offer Your Services" feature (where you select the things you're willing the help with in your profile, and a little icon shows up next to your posts).  I could probably throw together a script that checks the database and tells you who is offering their services in each category.
All of those things sound like they'd definitely be helpful, yes.

At the moment it's all with projects now having their own separate threads, but still only a sticked "Offer your services" thread. Seems a bit off that way - seems to be missing half of the point with a separate recruitment section of the forum.

I'd like to suggest two things:
* Either have prefixes like "[Offering services]" or "[Recruiting]".
* Have a separate "Offer your services" section of the forum (less likely, I'll admit, seeing as there seem to be much fewer offering than recruiting).

Good? Bad? Ugly?

I still haven't abandoned my intentions to make a game based on How to be a Complete Bastard.  In fact, it's going to be top of my agenda when I finish uni (well, 2nd from top... top will be finding a job).
That was a great game! Would you implement anything like the "reset" option on the computer you could find?

That does lend credence that all the Sierra properties Activision still own were licensed out to Telltale. Whether or not they planned on doing anything with Space Quest themselves, who knows?
#273
Sounds promising! I hope this works out.

Quote from: Ghost on Tue 10/04/2012 17:57:43Wishbringer's my favourite; I have even started some work on a graphical remake. It would make the perfect template for a small AGS game (SWARM project comes to mind). Could be a rather simple graphic style, somewhat King's Questish. The game map isn't that large and the plot is small, and I think it would work well with the MegaVerb template.
Hope you get further than that other guy a few years back who was reusing Return to Zork's graphics did.

Big difference between owning and licensing something. Naughty of Replay Games to insinuate that they owned the rights to Larry when they'd only licensed them.

As for Kickstarter, well... it seems to be appealing (and very successful) for veteran game designers who are overlooked by modern publishers, doesn't it. True, that could end up damaging its original purpose, but there you have it. Hopefully though it'll still be a good avenue for new game makers to use as well, although they're likely to need to have more to show upfront first.

And Blueskirt? Vivendi Games isn't dead. It's Activision Blizzard, yes, but it's still a subsidiary of Vivendi SA.
#276
Sounds good. Your sources available on a site like GitHub or Gitorious?
#277
Do we have a formal spec anywhere for the AGS VM and datafile formats? If so, someone could put together a small (PD-licensed?) reference application to show how it goes together and the ScummVM team could work from that. As no AGS code would be used in that case, license (in)compatibility would not be a concern, although it'd naturally take longer to get a working implementation together.

Everything has a time and place.

I'd be happy to see game developers releasing the source code to their games, but I am implacably opposed to forcing this upon them. You will scare off potential commercial developers from using AGS if this were so, and whilst AGS is primarily hobbyist those commercial developers should not be ignored.

Regardless of CJ's dogma (or not) with wanting more "permissive" licenses than the (L)GPL used, it is a pragmatic move to do so. As has been noted in other threads, the use of the GPL/LGPL can cause problems with other software libraries (primarily commercial ones). And while yes, most "permissive" licenses like MIT allow for closed source forks, the GPL does not exactly forbid this either (for internal/private use, for example).
#279
Can we stop with the open source zealotry, please, Timfonic. You are not helping. CJ has explicitly set a license and that should be honoured. With all the complications that could be thrown up by adopting the GPL or LGPL, we should either stick with the Artistic License v2, or adopt a MIT/ZLib/PNG license.

I find the graphics really pretty and charming; you'll easily find people interested in joining your team.

Keep it up and don't let anything get you down!  :)
Nice to see you combined efforts with Agentbauer! This game is getting a lot of love at the moment.
