Surprising that, given CJ's clear antipathy to open source, that he does not appear to have considered the opposite option - going commercial.

So. If he did decide to, say, set up a Blue Cup Ltd. to develop and support AGS as a commercial product, how many of you would buy it?

:o OMG, Very said to hear that, so the 15 Walking areas limitation will be last for Eternity.  :'(

I second ProgZmax approach, i guess its a lot of work in the beginning for CJ,
but when the Panel is well attuned, this would be the best solution for all IMHO.
The thing isn't dead yet, far from it. This thread is about the future of AGS.

Heh, quite an amusing little diversion! Unlocked the matchmaker trophy, I guess I'll have to see what other trophies there are...

See what you think of what this guy is doing with his adventure development system, and the reasoning...

I'm surprised decompilers do not already exist for the file formats. Nothing's going to stop a committed cracker. Consider the effort it took, for example, to reverse-engineer the Z Machine (the Zip interpreter), or Ultima VII (or any of the others - projects like Exult and Pentagram). Frankly, you're probably just lucky.

And "completely lose control" with regards to open sourcing the project? I'm not sure Larry Wall, Guido van Rossum or Linus Torvalds would agree somewhat with you. Ultimately, how much control you'd want to exercise (or lose) depends on you. Not to mention that there are more options out there than the GPL or LGPL - MIT and its relative licenses, Zlib etc. And I'd be astonished if AGS would just wither away if you were to open source it (in whole or in part) - that could be taken as being pretty insulting towards the AGS community at large.

You may want to (if you've not already) look at Inform 7's current model, which does seem to be somewhat similar to what you're proposing at the moment.

Nice to see you back around these parts!

Is this an evolution of Episode 0, by any chance? Do like the look, and verb-coin? I'm intrigued by verb-coin, so might venture into the fearsome territory it doubtlessly involves (got bizarre/stupid fantasies of recreating the RtZ interface though which doesn't help!).

Good luck with this one!

No, I meant when I tried it on my own, I used;
Clock.Text = "%02d:%02d:%02d", dt.hour etc.
Notice the String.format command.

If that's what I think it is, heh, nice reference to Ice Age!

I really like that music. Thanks for getting this made available for us!

Dumb question time...

How do you create a portrait that will always display whenever a character says/thinks/etc.?

Thanks!

Looking good! Amusing screenshots, too. Nice one!

Works for me. Did you try to stand on the left side?
Tried from all sides, no dice.

What the hell does "pub" in Pub Master Quest even mean anyway?

Bt
It makes me think of the local pub... mmmm, beer...

Quest to become the master of the local pub? Now that'd be entertaining!

I've run into what seems to be a bug with the latest version. After picking up the cork, I then picked up the flowers, the box and the hammer, but I am unable to interact with the cracked rock using the hammer.

Let's see.

The Phoenix Online team does have permission from Activision (who own the Sierra catalogue nowadays) for The Silver Lining (remember http://kotaku.com/5482221/activision-terminates-fan+made-kings-quest-extension the C&D fiasco?). AGDI also have (albeit reluctant, http://www.agdiforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18=13247&p=209978 from what I gather) permission from the same company regarding their remakes.

So the Sierra comparison is false, because the company that has control over its catalogue is aware of, and has given permission to, at least two major remake teams.

I am uncertain about Infamous Adventures, I'll admit.

Quote from: Snake on Fri 08/10/2010 18:37:01If I may make a suggestion, instead of this message under the Windows 98, 95, ME portion of downloads:
Sorry, but AGS no longer runs on these versions of Windows. Upgrade to XP!

Why not list the last version of AGS that does? I'm sure there are people out there that still use Win98 and can't (for whatever reasons) simply upgrade to XP... or just plain don't want to.
It might well be an issue of (commercial) support. What version(s) is Pumaman supporting these days?

Well, http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=41930.msg555619#msg555619 - this the kind of thing going on?

It's a good game, but very buggy unfortunately.

Was I supposed to get something in that maze that I tried to get back to after I messed up the first time and now it won't let me return. Please help me thanks
The http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?board=7.0 Hints and Tips section would've been a better place to post, rather than resurrecting a five year old thread.

Blah blah blah.

EDIT: Seriously - http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=9411.msg297376#msg297376 - you expect people to believe that you get a ban warning on their forums every time someone insults you? Give us a break.
