Very surprised to see you responding, Cirius. The mini-episode ideas sounds good, good luck with them!

I note the AGS documentation talks about using PCX files for splash screens. Does this still work (for 3.2)? Can we use alternative file formats?

For anyone that was requesting to see in-game footage, here it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP81GsciESk

His walking in the video is a little slower than the actually gameplay.  I should have recorded it a 60fps in Fraps. Oh well ;)
Could we have a clip with voice acting, please?

that set me on the right path.

I decided to go with - WaitMouseKey(180);  - which I looked up after seeing the last suggestion.

thanks, this will do nicely. Works with slow readers and allows the quick clickers to jump foward.

WaitMouseKey sounds more useful than plain Wait, really.

It'll stay that way forever unless you set the label text to something else (or nothing).

I guess you could just continue to VM it under Linux.  For most part the latest development version of WINE plays AGS games perfectly out of the box.
Yeah, a VM is a nice solution, that's what I do. And no problems with AGS-made games with WINE either (WINE 1.1.42). I'm not sure if installing the Windows version of Mono via WINE would help, but I've not tried it as yet.

I would love a linux version of the IDE, it would mean I could get rid of Windows forever.
Ditto.

So what would need to be changed/altered for the .NET IDE to work with Mono? Primarily System.Windows.Forms. I'm not sure if Mono has (yet) a functional-enough clone of this to work; certainly the version of Mono the beta of Ubuntu 10.04 supplies doesn't work with it. And then you'd need to deal with, say, the .NET bindings for Allegro and IrrKlang, maybe the C-script compiler as well. And the editor still uses, most crucially, C/C++ DLLs (AGS.Native.dll). So I'd say there's a fair few issues to be resolved before it'd be even thinkable. Not sure it'd be impossible, though it might easily be not worth the effort.

The interface that Ben304's games use (left click to interact, right to examine) appeals to me in its simplicity. That said, I like the other styles I've tried too, from the UI of Return to Zork to the Sierra-style verbcoins and the Lucasarts verbs.

Not sure why I didn't reply to this earlier, what with my deep deep adoration for Doctor Who (which I will not extoll at this venture....just because).

That said, I would gladly offer to help out with things...it'd partly depend on the Doctor being used for it, but heck, nobody ever said multiple Doctors were out of the question.  Happens almost all the time. :)

Allons-y!
That would be much appreciated I think. Nothing's concrete though, but that can be sorted soon enough!

Time Snare was an excellent game! Quite a bit of it got finished...

If I was into Dr Who I would offer to help out with a project but I just don't know enough about the show, old or new.
I don't think you'd need to know that much; just being able to help would be a good thing.

You'd have done better posting that as a new post to the thread, theRedPress, I don't think many people are going to notice it'd been edited if it's on page 9 of the forums.

SuperDre: Heh, one of these days there'll be a game without that one puzzle that gets you stuck. Glad to hear you enjoyed, hope you have fun with Hope :)

Sslaxx: Nope, the game interface was built from the empty game template. Any particular reason?
Because I like the way the games you make play, and want to replicate it.
#634
Stupid question time: Is this one of the standard AGS templates?

Dr Who is actually perfect for an adventure game since the doctor is all about logic and reason over brute force.

I would happily lend any of my meagre skills to the creation of a Dr W game.
Meagre my arse.

I'd be up for it if you are, that'd make two of us. But we'd need at least one artist I guess - I can't draw to save my life.

One of them is still available, Skerrigan's Episode 0 demo - http://dump.myxcp.net/mirror/skerrigan.co.uk/doctorwho.zip

I'd love to do an AGS-based "Doctor Who" game, but I find my lack of AGS knowledge (and my non-existent artistic ability) rather scupper that idea.
In fact, I'd be interested in doing a "Doctor Who" game - whilst I may not know much about AGS, the language is pretty obviously a C-derivative, and I know C/C++ quite well, so it'd mostly be an API and quirks-learning exercise. My lack of graphical/artistic ability, however, would be significantly more problematic.

Seems I'm out of luck then.   :(

Oh well, thanks everyone.   :)
Looks that way, AGS-wise. Dunno about other systems/platforms though - if you're on Gallifrey Base, asking a more general question along those lines might produce results.

It looks like Cirius has left the AGS forums, and I think Skerrigan and Duckbutcher have lost interest in AGS and/or Doctor Who.

I'd love to do an AGS-based "Doctor Who" game, but I find my lack of AGS knowledge (and my non-existent artistic ability) rather scupper that idea.

Dunno if this is part of it, but it seems the TSL guys want to buy the Kings Quest IP outright.

I'm not entirely sure this was the best idea they could've had though.
