Zor, the font you're using on your website looks horrible on my web browser. As for the game itself... downloading it now.

No mention of Floyd from Planetfall and Stationfall?

My favorite adventure game is... Starcross.

...hey, nobody said it had to be point-and-click...

Mmm, Infocom adventures. True classics! Zork Trilogy here.

Not posted for a while, been busy working on stuff and trying to find art jobs and failing mainly.  So I'm back to doing mundane desk/office type work which bores me senseless and pays really badly.:)

This is for a competition/ Draw off from an art forum I'm a member at, based on the topic 'ragtag futuristic pirate leader from 2050, with background and non futuristic weapons etc'

comments crits and santa referances welcomed

Is the pirate meant to be making himself look like a poser? Weapons aside, it's not a particularly threatening pose.

Nice artwork, though. What did you use to create it?

My god, this was so funny. i have beaten the game, and the anger meter was a good new refreshing thingamabob!

"How to be a Complete Bastard" had a piss-o-meter, where you could only perform some actions sober or drunk, or somewhere in-between. Nice to see another game using this idea.

anybody with me? Nobody? :)

Never played 'em, so I can't comment. Sound interesting, though.

Let me see...
IMO
Nothing beats Sierra Nevada, Saranac Pale Ale, or a good gin and tonic...

The classic, of course, is to take one of those little Dole juice bottles, drink half of it, fill the other half with vodka or 151, and shake it up a bit. That should keep you happy on the way to the party. :)

EDIT: Has anyone ever had pastis before? Nasty stuff, made from anise seeds, I think. Tastes like black licorice.

I was surprised to find Sierra Nevada over here! It is a good beer. Tried Scottish Heather Ale, that's good. Jack Frost is made with blackberries - yummy stuff.

...I'm running a 100% Linux system right now. The fact that AGS' development system is only available for Windows is a big problem for me, as I'd like to learn and use it, but can't.

Ehh...I'm sorry about that. I just haven't had the time to work on porting the editor (*if* it can happen). I'm attending university full time and working full time at the moment so I'm a bit loaded down :P

Well, I wasn't aware of that! Good luck with the porting!

Yes, I rememer people were able to run it under Wine. Not sure if it's stable enough but it run, afaik.

~Cheers

I guess I'll give it a go then!

And the results... nada. AGS crashes out (2.56) with WINE (20030813) with an Unhandled Exception.

Well, good luck to you! Just going to do Sierra remakes, or are you going to make other remakes or (preferrably!) all-new games?

Thanks for your comments. I redrew the picture keeping in mind the details you pointed out.
How does it look now? I don't know really if the walls shading is right, maybe I should shade the corner darker or something. This time I tried a darker colour for the walls to give the image a more realistic look.
I also added an image to the mirror, though what it shows it's not on the seen side of the room, mainly because then I should add small sprites of the characters moving up there as well. :) I drew the cupboard in the same style as the rest of the room, but I think I somehow pressed something I shouldn't have and erased the shades of the cupboard. When I noticed it I had already merged it with the rest of the scene so it was too late to fix it, and was tired enough so as not to draw it again. :P
So, what do you think about the picture now?

Absolutely marvellous!

this is really hard!
as sequals are similar in style i'll have to mention simin the sourcerer 1 and 2, as 2 didn't lose the charm of the original. Funny witty and great.

THe discworld series (a masterpiece) I'm a fan of the books and these follow them faithfully, with enough explination for those who haven't to understand and those who had there isn't to much so we get bored. Rincewind is great. Death is wonderful!!(the charactor mind)

then sam and max hit the road. Heard there was gonna be a sequal true?

"Simon the Sorcerer", eh? Well, I'm playing them thanks to the joys of ScummVM! Great piece of software, that. Don't know much about the third one, but haven't heard much good about it. Pity, that.

[EDIT: Mods, move this thread to the adventure games/related, please? Seems rather out of place here.]

For me, it's the original Infocom Zork text adventures. Now, if only Activision would revive Infocom again (and realise that they don't need to use the Zork franchise to do it, either!)...

Unless it can work with WINE. I haven't tried it myself yet, though I intend to soon. Has anybody else tried this? Does it work at all? Does it work usably? If so (or if not), what version of WINE are you using?

Thanks!

AGS Games in Production / id's Keen...

I've thought about Keen fangames from time to time, here, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of them.

The owner is 3D Realms and they are still selling it (thumbs up!) but i don't know if you have to ask them first. link: http://www.3drealms.com/keen4/index.html

No. 3D Realms/Apogee *distribute* the game still. There is a difference. Commander Keen is owned by id Software.

Nicely done, Foz!

Say someone wanted to emulate the ZVision system from the latter two graphical Zorks. Now, I'm thinking that the demonstration game's looptown shows one potential way to achieve this, but are there others? What would be the best type of approach?
#740
Woah! I'll definitely be looking forward to any game that uses this artwork.
