Have you got a link to the original story? Or would that be too much of a spoiler for the game? ;)

It would be rather a spoiler for the game, to be honest, as they loosely follow along the same plot.

The font has already been changed and it instantly makes it look much nicer and much more readable too.

Thanks to everyone so far for the kind and encouraging words. I'd be happy to have you on board, Frodo, as a beta-tester. I'm currently ironing out as many glitches as and when I come across them as well as enhancing animations, so hopefully your job will be a little less taxing!

I won't be recording voice acting until after the beta-testing. There's a fair bit of dialogue so I don't want to record things unnecessarily or suddenly need a second recording block.

Khris - I agree with you on the font front. I'll change it before any kind of release.

The Interzone story was published many moons ago (probably early 90s) under the same title - The Discontinuum Kitchen.

Well, after a few months of head scratching and slightly drowning at the deep end, I'm now making very good progress with my first adventure game - 'The Discontinuum Kitchen'. It's based on a short story I wrote many years ago (and which was published in Interzone). It's been extensively reworked and re-imagined to transform it into a proper adventure game.

Early in the game as your character arrives at his destination.

Exploring the grounds of Audsley House.

Further exploration.

An image from about halfway through the game.

The front doors of Audsley House, a closed down government research facility.

One of the secret documents your character will discover.

A shot from the opening cutscene.

And another shot from the same short cutscene.

The main character, sent to Audsley House by the Ministry to do an audit of equipment left behind at the now closed down establishment, must discover the sinister secret behind the old building. He will be met with considerable resistance from the house's sour and elderly janitor who may be hiding one or two secrets of his own.

Although it's hard to judge, I anticipate this being a medium length game. Perhaps other people will have an opinion on that when it gets to the beta-testing stage.

Graphics - 90%
Puzzles - 95%
Scripting - 95%
Music/Sound - 100%

I've got this quite advanced before announcing it as I didn't want to get hopelessly lost in the coding and have to give up. Now I know I'm nearly there and it will definitely be released.

I hope you enjoy the screenshots,

Stuart
