This plug-in is amazing! I really like the play tester logging. Makes solving bugs a lot easier, because you can see exactly what the person did, rather than trying to re-create what he did to run into the problem. The DirectX support, simplified cutscene programming, and 32-bit overlays are also awesome. I may not need to wait that long to create my game after all! ;D

I am also looking forward to playing the game. Keep up the good work! ;)

Well, the images aren't showing up. Try putting them with a different host than ImageShack.

I, too, think that music should have its own category. I thought that the music in 6DAS was great, but it didn't draw me in as well as some of the other games that came out last year.

Okay, I'll beta test for you, see if everything is okay. DLing...

EDIT: Download link is kind of slow. You should try something faster, like FileFront. I have an account, so I'll go ahead and make a second link for you.

After playing a bit of your game, I have a few early impressions:
1. Clean up some of the buttons and images. Makes it a lot easier on the eyes.
2. Make it easier to save, reload, and exit. I recommend making a small menu when you press esc. It makes the game look better and have a more professional quality to it.
3. Proofread the dialogue. I know this may sound basic, but when you're playing a game, grammar mistakes really get on your nerves. It also makes it have a more professional quality to it if you have good dialogue.

I'll continue to play and see how everything else goes...

UPDATE:
Spoiler
The tape is pretty hard to find. It takes some pixel hunting to find it, and I know from experience that that's not very fun to do.

Also, you should probably make the Load Game hotspot bigger. I really have to click around to load the game back up.

The AGS community doesn't overcharge games, you know. In fact, it's a great place to get games, since the prices are always so low! If you don't want to pay for a game, fine; there are plenty of fun free games out there. But if you want to play a certain game that costs money, the least you could do is buy it and show your appreaction for the hard work they put into it. In fact, I encourage people to charge for their games if they are awesome enough (like I did when a Heartland sequel came into disscussion)! The hard-working people in the community don't get any money from the hours of love they put into a game and release it for free. They need to pay the bills, get food, and buy other things to support themselves. So when you pay for a game, you are showing the developers that you really appreciate what they're doing, keeping the community alive and all, because we all know the state of commercial gaming right now, and it doesn't look like it'll be improving any time soon. We need to keep adventures alive and breating, and paying a little can go a long way. I probably sound like one of those TV preachers like Billy Grahm right now. ;D In fact, you could think of it like a donation, like how you donate to other organizations! You play and enjoy adventure games, don't you? Well, why not support that instead of some unknown charity that has no interest to you? Don't get me wrong; donating is great for charities, but why not give to the charity that has to do with one of your passions? Next year, my sophmore year in high school, I plan on taking Computer Science to teach me how to code, and next year a digital art and animation class, to learn how to make my own games and, hopefully, get into the industry. After I take these classes, in my senior year I will begin to make my project a reality (I already have everything else worked out), and if I feel it is good enough and get enough positive comments from other people, I will consider charging for it. Not a lot, mind you, just something like $5 or $10.

Anyway, I think if you feel the game is interesting enough, you should go ahead and buy it. It helps the creators, and it makes you feel good for actually buying it. I don't know how exactly this feeling comes, but it makes you feel loads better you didn't just download it for free. And that's all I have to say.

EDIT: Man, I should probably cut down on the ranting! This is really long. ;D

Just finished the game. I don't get why people didn't like it; the game was great! To the person who said they didn't get the pictures in the end, you have to play through the other games to understand them.

I thought it all made sense...the story was absolutely brilliant as a 4-game trilogy (though the Trilby's Notes game seems more like one of those spin-offs than part of the DAS series. How the psychaitrist became the caretaker, how the dude in this game became the welder, and how Trilby became destined to relive John DeFoe for eternity. I am curious, though; does this mean the dude in this game was the one from 5DAS and 7DAS? And it seems ironic that the caretaker helped the dude become the protecter of DeFoe's soul in 7DAS, and eventually became the dude's killer. And what of Chzo? Will he be killed by the real God, or was Chzo destroyed at the end of 7DAS?

Anyway, now that the storyline has ended, will Yahtzee retire from games again, or will he make a new game? I hope he goes back to comedy, too; something has to light me up from this serious game. ;D

It'd be cool if someone wrote down everything that happened in the series...not just a summary. That way, we could make it like a novel. I think it would be cool if someone made an illustrated novel. It would be a lot scarier that way.

EDIT: Also, I've been hearing some things of this game being like an interactive movie. How so?

I get the jokes (sadly), but they aren't very good. And the third drawing you did looks just like the first, only black. I think this could have the potential, though.

Critics' Lounge / Re: a comic

This comic confuses me as well, though that's not the reason I'm put off by it. The dots that are shown look drawn and the x-ray looks real. Usually I think that's awesome, but for this one...I don't know... it looks like it doesn't belong.

Well, Yahtzee doesn't need to promote his games, anyway. If he just posted on his site, "new game out now", he would reach 10,000 downloads in no time!

I don't remember Ticketmaster in the game. ;D

What I heard is that Yahtzee felt he became too egotistical, because he was making comments on the forums no one was very happy about. He decided to leave so he wouldn't upset anyone. Although, I've also heard he sometimes appears on the forums under a different alias...
#54
This looks rather interesting... ;D
#55
No, there's not going to be another one; Yahtzee said so himself that this was the last game in the DeFoe story line. But we all know what happened last time, when he said he was retiring from adventure games.  ;D

If anyone is curious as to what my last post meant, one of the nessacary items you need to complete the game comes from interacting with your stool; the stool leg.

Hey, walkthroughs can be made by beta testers, you know! Anyway, the walkthrough helped a lot. Thanks for posting. :)

This looks like an amazing game. I really loved your comic (readers, look it up on his website. It's worth it), and I can't wait to play an adventure game made by you.

I really like the game. Nice work!

And by the way, if you're looking for voice acting, why not buzz the people of Valve? They have always supported the freeware community, so (though it sounds crazy) maybe a few of them would like to help. I know from their games that the voices are always top-notch, so I think it would be really cool to do so.

Also, what I think you should do is form one huge game, and maybe sell it. Put it on a CD (or DVD if nessacary). That way, you could make the backrounds at a higher resolution, add more music, more special effects, and more things to do in the game, without people ignoring the game because it's too big of a download. Although, you could make a CD AND downloadable version, for people who don't mind downloading the massive file size and for people with dial-up, so they don't have to deal with the massive file size. Also, I may be able to try and record voices. I don't have any experience in the field, but I could invest some of my money into a high-quality mic and give it a go. I've always felt like a freeloader in the community, taking games and not giving any in return. And, since I'm not a very good artist, coder, or script writer, I need to think of something to do, don't I? I could send you a sample that I record and you could decide for yourself. For pricing, I'd say $10-15 would be good. Especially for how scary and immersive your game is. I've seen blockbuster titles with worse quality!

Before I say anything else, I would just like to assure you that I am not being sarcastic. If I remember correctly, there was a little misunderstanding last time we met. ;D

Also, I would like to add that you could also go the way that the people at TellTale Games have, releasing episodic content for a low price. Or, maybe not for this kind of game, since continuing it for 100 episodes would be a stretch of content, wouldn't it? This game freaks me out, too. And honestly, besides the Yahtzee series, a game has never made me turn on all the lights in the house, blasting The Beatles through my small speakers, looking around anxiously to make sure no invisi-person comes to get me. I'm starting to sound like that insane guy now, aren't I? ;D

I actually wrote this much? Incredible! I hope I didn't break a forum rule I forgot, for fear of Darth Mandarb.  ;D

I should probably finish this one up, so thanks for making such a high-quality short game, and I hope to see any future work you pump out!

Awesome game. I especially loved the off-beat puzzles.
