I actually do remember your nickname, but without an avatar I'm not too sure anymore. You had a green one, right?

I remember you Nikolas, I can't even remember the last avatar i had, but i think it had green in it and was a character of myself.

One person I'm not sure has got mention is Spiros, I remember him being helpful back in the day

Wow, i made my 1000th post over 9 Years ago, And I've made over 2000, But this is my 1st post in over 2 Years. I stopped making my last game 10 Years ago and it is was nearly completely finished, A remake of lsl 3. Still have it somewhere. Haven't been active here for ages but have a look occasionally. Nobody probably remembers me apart from a couple of people from fb

I'd say most of the people that played all the old adventure games, and had an interest in creating their own, have eventually ended up here, It has even got to the point where it is probably kids of people who played the old adventure games have become members and wanted to make a game.

It will die out eventually, and probably have waves of new popularity before then.

As far as forums go, as others have said, they are less popular cause of Facebook etc

I'm not sure if these things are a passing thing, or the developing process of the way of the future. I guess they are all experimental, and it just depends on the trend of the time.

Myspace was the popular thing before facebook, then sometime in 2007 everyone jumped on the FB bandwagon.

FB keeps changing to try and stay popular, and everyone bitches when it changes, but people get used to it, then it changes again, and people want it back to the way they didn't want it before, I find it quite funny. But it is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family that you normal wouldn't keep in touch with.

I got google wave, but that just seems pointless as far as i can se, it has a lot of work to do if it wants to be ahead of FB.

I find Myspace is still the best music site out there, any band no matter how small, has got a page, and some tunes up. Often if I'm going to see a band, I can even look up the support bands and hear a few songs. So it still has a place out there.

I've been on these forums as long and longer than some of those people mentioned, and I hadn't posted for ages until recently either. I fly under the radar in most places, but that is just who i am, and have succeeded here too.

Yeah, I've heard of this director, he made one of my favourite movies as a kid.

Piranah 2, the sequel to a movie no one asked. Who would have thought of that, Piranah's flying out of the water and attacking people.

Be interesting to go back to look at anyway. Just like peter jackson, did "bad taste" & "meet the feebles"

I haven't really watched tv for over a year, didn't even hear of avatar til just before xmas cause one of my mates saw it, still haven't even seen a preview of the movie. heard something about blue people, and 3d, and the story is basically every block buster movie combined with the iraq war. Cant be that exciting, oh and yeah, haven't really read this thread incase i do see it one day.

Migraine's are often also caused from dehydration, and most people aren't even aware.

Drink 2 litres of water each day, and you will reduce the chance of getting one.

Seems a strange idea for a bar, but it might work, I suppose a lot of gamers can drink a lot cause of the size of them from sitting around playing games, hahaha, is that too much of a stereotype these days? I thought people would want to get away from computers when they go out and interact with people in the flesh. I guess you can probably log into a dating site from within the bar, hahaha, what is this world coming to.

I couldn't see an address, just that it is in Fortitude Valley

-13C outside, heavy fog, you feel your nostrils freeze in about 20 seconds outside, and there's 2m high snowpile under my window. If I was a kid, all I had to do was to dig a cave into it and have a dream igloo.

So yes... there's not much sense going outside and not much chance to meet anyone outside that would want anything other than to get inside again. I'm also not the nutty type that goes to ski, though weather is more than perfect for this.

It's hard for me to get the concept of those sort of temps, I know that a lot of places have been much colder than that lately, but below zero C is not something I'm used to.

It is summer here at the moment and the usual daily temp is 30C with a minimum of 20C, and in winter it is closer to top of 20C and a low of 10C. There isn't a time of year where you could go outside and worry that you could actually die because of the weather, more likely from being too hot. If you crash out drunk somewhere there is no chance you would freeze to death.

So it makes more sense I guess to do outdoor things here. I can see how the weather can effect your life and keep you trapped inside. I don't think I would be a happy person living in those conditions, but there must be something good about it, or why would people still live in such cold climates. I'm sure the beauty of the area must keep people interested, or just the fact it is where you live and you love it or know no other climate.

I quit smoking just over 5 months ago, after 18 years of smoking. I still feel like one quite often, just know i don't need it. To be honest, I've always kept pretty fit and I haven't really noticed any physical difference. One thing I have noticed is smoking does regulate a lot in your life, and you think more clearly and logically when smoking. I just figure I'll have less chance of having a few diseases earlier in my life. I don't hate smoking and I do really enjoy being around people while they are smoking, but the smell of a smoker is terrible, I can't believe I went all those years smelling like that.

Sometimes it is hard when you have multiple things you are interested in, and if you are good at multiple things, it makes it hard to focus on one thing.

Genius's are usually only talented in very few areas, they just spend a lot of time doing the one thing. sometimes it can make you money and fame.

If Bill Gates was a popular guy he probably wouldn't have spent a lot of time programming computers. Now he's just a rich fuck head, probably not happy at all.

Tiger Woods just concentrated (forced too) on Golf, eventually his popularity and fame probably got to him a bit, bill Gates probably couldn't get the sexy babes still, haha

A totally different way to look at things, is diet has a lot to do with the way your mind and body works, and a bit of exercise, and sun light can do a lot for you. It can totally change the way you look at things. Healthy mind, Healthy body and all that, it is not just talk, but it is hard to see without actually getting motivation to do it.

It will help you be able to focus on tasks and possibly finish something.

There's lots of possibilities with things like ADHD or just ADD not everyone has the hyperactive part, and are much harder to diagnose. But you don't need drugs to fix these things, Don't get me started on how bad drug companies are, and they pay doctors to prescribe certain drugs etc. When most things are due to a diet imbalance, that can be fixed by eating the right things, not taking a pill. A Pill is just a quick fix that will probably reduce your life, while making some greedy bastard even richer. There are use for some medications, but there is never enough study done on any meds before they are approved. Of course some can help, but there is usually a better alternative.

There's also things like Asperger's Syndrome, that is in the autism spectrum, which in reality, I think everyone has some level of what we call autism. Not that you probably have it, it is just something out there that people often over look.

I imagine you have quite long winters in Estonia too, so having to be indoors a lot doesn't help.

I stopped making a remake of a famous game at the end of 2003, to this day it is still almost finished, and that is a full length game I've been sitting on for just over 6 full years. I don't think I even want to release it now though. It is quite an immature game, and technically it is a big breach of copyright, even though I'd be quite sure nothing would happen, as other sierra games have had the same treatment. I don't care about it so much anymore.

I go through stages of different interests, they are all things I was good at as a kid, but eventually I get sick of them and move onto something else. Team sport is a great thing, whatever sport interests you, it is more the social aspect that you can get a lot out of. I've played cricket for 21 years, I still play pretty competitively and happen to be in a good team, and we are undefeated this year so far. It is my first season with this club as I have moved interstate, but it is a great way to meet some people around the community. Also get some exercise, probably also drink too much beer after the games though.

I'm getting back into making music at the moment too and have a few people I have collected over my life that I have connected with musically that I may do some work with at some point.

You might not have finished anything completely, but that doesn't mean you wont, things might just come together at the right time, maybe that time isn't right at this moment. Maybe you'll meet someone that brings all the goodness out of you, but don't let them take too much or you might not come back, haha

Do things you enjoy, if you stop enjoying them, look at why you lost interest. I think there are a lot of people in the same situation. Don't know if we can give any good hints, but yeah, diet strangely enough is probably one of the most important factors we all usually ignore.

Are you saying that a Swede speaking English and a French speaking English sound alike? Or am I misunderstanding something here?

No, I'm not saying they sound alike, I'm just saying that those 2 different accents whilst speaking in English are appealing.

They are quite different to each other

Where I say "though I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pick variations of those languages accents" I mean different accents of french or different accents of swedish

I don't find American accents that sexy or anything, as an Australian, we get to hear the accent so much thru movies and TV that it kind of just sounds normal, boring, I guess an unusual accent is more a turn on.

As for the American and Canadian accents, they are different, but I think even some american accents closer to canada sound a bit canadian too. Though not being north american it isn't as easy to tell the difference.

It would be similar to the Australian and New Zealand accents, it's easy for an aussie or kiwi to tell the difference, but they do sound similar to people from other parts of the world.

I find French and Swedish accents quite appealing, but when they are speaking English, not their native tongue. (though I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pick variations of those languages accents)

Which is an interesting point, Some people who don't speak English may not be able to tell the difference between, any English accent whether it be Irish or Canadian.

As I wouldn't know the difference between a German and Southern German accent, all sounds German to me.

So the finer details are really noticed the more you hear an accent, as I'm sure if I went to germany for a while and spent time in different areas I would eventually notice.

As I'm sure French Canadian accent is different to French (as i'm sure there are many varieties of french accents in other french speaking countries and within them too.) As with Spanish.

Interesting topic anyway.

As accents are changing all the time (as you notice when you hear old speaches from the 30's or 50's even 70's) I'm talking about speaches from within your own country (may be more apparent in US and AUS) You notice the accent has changed over time.

With more communication over the world, with movies, tv, internet, etc we are probably all effecting the way each other speak, it will only be apparent in generations in the future.

And will we end up with more pockets of different accents, or will there eventually be a common accent of the world. possibly eventually a common language we all speak, but that will cause more wars than religion, and I think if the climate doesn't get us, we will probably kill each other before we finally agree and are at peace.

Maybe it will eventually take an intruding being, for us all to team up as a united world, then we will still be trying to kill someone, just not each other, haha, i think i've gone off topic.

Accents that aren't as familiar are usually more intriguing to me.

The last decade of TV from any country has been pretty poor

There have been a few shows I've liked, but you really have to sift through the crap.

I would argue (in fact, I have argued) that on the contrary, this decade has been the best time for quality television probably ever. And I think that's mostly about cable channels like HBO getting in the game

Possibly a good point, and maybe a reason why I feel tv is crap, cause a lot of shows have moved over to cable. I'm not paying for tv. After not watching it a lot, I'm really glad I'm no longer addicted to it. It actually feels pretty good, I don't have to hang all week to see the next episode of whatever.

I looked thru that post you made, and I have seen some of the shows you mentioned, I saw the 1st season or so of sopranos but lost interest and never got back into it.

Someone mentioned Deadwood to me a few of years ago, it was only on pay tv over here, so I downloaded all seasons and watched it all, was disappointed it didn't continue.

One of my friends raves about Dexter, and i'll probably borrow the dvd's off him one day.

There's not many free to air channels in Australia, and they just play the big commercial crap.

A few of the alternative type shows get played late at night

I was more into sitcoms, and since Seinfeld, it has never really recovered, the first sign was when Raymond took over as the next big one. No other countries really make many sitcoms, or at least successful ones in recent times. The UK version of The office was good, not so much the US version. I really liked the UK version of Coupling, they also made a US version of it, but it didn't translate too well, didn't really work at all.

I'm more happy to be out of the tv addiction, and plan on getting out and doing more exercise, see what's really happening out there, not living on other peoples fantasies. just stick to a couple of shows and not be disappointed if i happen to miss them.

There have been a few shows I've liked, but you really have to sift through the crap.

Probably one of the most entertaining series from the UK is Shameless It's up to series 7 now, but as with most series, the first few are awesome, and what made them. Then they get more money to spend, and just seem to repeat the same stuff.

Probably the best series to come out of Australia was the first series of Underbelly Based on true events in the criminal underworld in Melbourne, not sure if it has been shown overseas, but probably can download, or buy (it wasn't shown in the state of Victoria at the same time as the rest of the country, cause trials were still going on, certain characters names weren't revealed because of this)

Flight Of the Conchords is ok, I really like some of their music, but the show can get a bit lame

American TV has gone down hill a lot, prob cause there is just too much of it.

I suggest finding a good Radio station, and forget you had a TV, I've probably switched the tv on an average of 2 times a week for the last year, more often to watch a sporting event, or the shows mentioned above, which are usually on the same night for me.

I use ubuntu, and I use deluge which I've found is better than the others, but that's because it was the first one I found using ubuntu and stuck with it. I think they've got a windows version these days, so not sure what the windows version is like, but haha, there is still people actually using windows, haha, gotta laugh

Edit: but just out of interest, I went to jaunty, but went back to hardy, too many bugs, I think hardy is where ubuntu is the shit, after that, FUCKED, just crashes just using firefox after 5 mins, so I don't know where to go after this, if anyone has some better operating system let me know (just not a windows or mac cunt fuck)

edit 2: yeah sorry about the cunt language, haha

major news outlets care enough to cover it.

of course, cause there's major money to make out of it.

I've never enjoyed his music (over his entire career), just never appealed to me, and I'm old enough to remember thriller. liked the clip but could never get into the music.

Pretty strange life, we'll never really know which stories to believe.

Good example that money can't make you happy, I guess it depends how you use it.

I found it sad that he went to the lengths that he did to look like his sister. He was good enough to just be himself. His parents robbed him of his childhood, which was the start of all his problems I guess.

Sad that he's dead, but I'm surprised he lived as long as he did with all the extra stuff he's gone thru. though that extra stuff would be a contributing factor to a heart attack, probably from getting hooked on some prescribed medication and abusing it. pretty common in our society, not just celebrities.

He would have done more in his life than most at 50, so he's had his time, and dying early will only create a more legend status.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it (slept well last night actually)

didn't that famous chick die as well from cancer farrah fawcett or something, she's been building up for a celebrity death for ages, finally dies but happens to be the same day as someone more famous, oh well, we are all going to die at some point.

Just have fun now cause you could die while I'm typing this

Got many stories, but one involving Absynth, and some home made spirits.

I got home from cricket (a sport) hadn't eaten all day, and if you know cricket, it is a game played in summer in the sun all day, well, we play from 1pm to 6pm. Arrived home to find a bunch of friends having a few drinks on the common balcony on my floor of the apartment building I was living. I started off with 3 shots of absynth, then my neighbour got me to try some of his home made potatoe fermentation spirits, it tasted like metho, had a couple of shots of that, then 2 or 3 more shots of absynth.

This was all within an hour or less, on an empty stomach after being in the sun all day exercising (the pizza hadn't even arrived) I don't remember a thing after that, though I have seen some video footage of me trying to stand up, falling and hitting my head on the table, smashing my nose, and falling to the ground completely passed out. I apparently was staring and pointing at the breasts of someone I didn't know that was sitting next to her boyfriend, and verbally abused a neighbour. My friends took me to my apartment apparently one got her tits out and put them on my head. There was video footage of that too, but I was never shown that part.

I woke up at 2am in my bed in my underwear and there was blood in my bed (from my nose) and I couldn't work out what had happened. I was completely sober with no hangover, grabbed a beer, went back to the common balcony and wondered where everyone was. called a friend and they'd gone into town but were on their way home, and were suprised I was able to even talk.

very strange night, I never usually drink spirits, just beer or red wine. can't handle my spirits, cause I get too excited and think I can handle more, but you cant just drink it like beer. I know this before I start drinking spirits, but after a few shots, rational thinking goes out the window, It's best just not to start, and stay on beer.

I'm not much of a drinker to begin with, not my drug of choice

saw them in '96 at the Big Day Out festival in Sydney was a big fan then, Killing in the name was and prob still is my favourite song of theirs. They really didn't progress much I thought, still the same sort of stuff. Never bought any of their albums, but have heard most. Good to just hear an odd song on the radio once in a while. They toured here in '08 but didn't see them
