Is it a problem to convert the wavs, to mp3 or ogg files to reduce the size. That won't make any noticable difference in the sound.

I've got broadband but still have a download limit per month so 100MB per day is about all I can download, to ration my bandwidth to last out a month.

lots of people round here have broadband, but most probably have dial-ups, so it will limit the audience.

EDIT: Also, are the wav files for sound effects, music and voice or something, if so, Have the music.vox and speech.vox as separate downloads, that will decrease the download size considerably, so people can at least play the game.

Human ears can't really tell the difference between a WAV and a 192kbit MP3, especially on the sound systems most people have on their machines, even something less than 128kbit is hard to tell on most peoples machines.

I use win98se and I have never had that problem, very strange

have you tried playing around with the games setup options, otherwise someone else may have a solution.

I often remember Kikme saying he was from Washington, and his family moved to China temporoarily (probably for his parents work or something) so that sounds right to me.

edit: I think deep down people still like the idea of having someone to take out some frustration, sure some people who got emails, might feel bad, but how much other spam is more annoying,

kik him out, or don't, personally, I don't give a shit

Welcome back, You probably don't know me but Sam the pirate monkey was one of the first ags games I played a long time ago, before I became a memeber round here.

I also enjoyed Slacker quest & Bert the news reader, hope you've come back to make some more cool games.

Ban him if you like, but I like cj's attitude so far by not banning anyone,

even if this fella has been spamming, being childish, a friggen moron, It has obviously been something interesting, that has caused many an interesting topic, and just face it, if kikhos was banned, we would never know what he'd come up with next.

As much as evey one has no respect for him, his little entries create a little bit of joy to the community, maybe in a sour way, but still, everyone seems to jump on the bandwagon.

I just say let him be, being him must suck enough.

Yes, obviously my first part was a joke although it is a valid possibility

Aloe vera can help but I prefer not to use it, but I also try not to get burned in the 1st place, but still, it happens evey year many times,

an old remedy is also putting cold tea over it, but whether it works or not is whether you want it too.

That DOS history is quite interesting, cleared up a few things, or misinformed me even more with those 17 errors,

the first version I came across was 2 or 3 with my 8086, there were 80286 machines at the time but they were top of the line expensive things (eg. $3000-5000 AUS [ a few years before that IBM's were about $10,000 and not much better than a c64]), plus who even knew then, that IBM machines would be popular. Lucky they are now popular or no one could afford them

Wait till you peel, then start trying to peel off as bigger pieces as possible, then see if you can see through it, that'a the best way to deel with it,

The pain can be bad, other than trying not to irritate it, I wouldn't recomend putting anything on it as it probably is a placebo, or will lead to infection, although if the placebos mentioned work (it means it's all in your head[as a placebo obviously is]) a burn is a burn, any oily substance can cause more harm than good.

learn from your yearly mistake, and remember prevention is better than a cure

Lucky bastard, it's going into winter here, (probably similar to summer in canada)

That's an interesting point Flippy, I have the same problem with an animation sequence where, my character animates, and just before he starts walking to the next point, he quickly faces UP, when already facing right, then walking right.

Also when I release character view in many of my animations, he always faces a different direction, (doesn't matter which way he was facing to begin with)

I just put up with these things and put it down to either my lack of knowledge, or lack of explanations, or expectations of others without considering others thought processes, it just happens in life, (it's also not view 6)

I've tried face location with no luck, but it's no major problem, it just looks like a glitch in my game, but also looks less professional, (which I like) It would just be nice to know why it happens

Good luck MHawk,
It could take a year on your own, and that's before you even start doing your own graphics (depending on how much free time you get[depending whether you work fulltime or not] plus how long between breaks of motivation)

I've been working on a similar type project for a few months, which is coming along nicely, I might ad, I just don't like this sort of early publicity, when mine comes out it will be a surprise to most people, others that know what I'm doing have probably already forgotten, which is the way i like to work, under the cover of night, with hints here and there (this is a sly one)  but in reality, I don't want many people to d/l it, just the few who really care, I just want to create a commercial favourite, to the ultimate non comercial market, ie the ones who flukily pick up my hints, (but this is not one)

Again
Good luck Mhawk,

may your enthusiasm run through to the end

This is an interesting question King Crimson, I think if you want to make a full on game, time is no issue, just do it at the pace that allows you to do it, not neglecting more important things, like communicatation (not via internet, person to person physically) family (if you have one) and friends (if you haven't neglected them)

with that out of the way, and you have free time outside of School, Work, University or other form of education, and you still want to continue with a game project, means you have the right desire to create a game, then it is just part of your life as many others around here,

the longer it takes to make a game, generally means your lazy, have a major social life, or are just serious about making something you've always wanted,

good luck with your pursuits, and may your desire win out in the end

Edit: There is no rush around here, patience is a virtue

Just out of interest, haven't people just tried to click the icons on ther top of the default gui, just to see what they do or are they just scared? what else do they think the icon is for ????

Maybe a new icon is needed for the scared people that might click on a monster that will haunt them for the rest of their lives, otherwise, one of those door things is ok by me,

I don't know, I was familiar with dos long before windows and computers long before dos, but still, trial and error is part of programming,  I guess this new generation will try anything else before C:\> ,

and btw, I only remember C:\   this extra ">" throws me right off course, what the fuk is that, j/k it, was an extra ad on later on in the piece for lame arses that didn't know where to type from. that was dos for dummy's
and as you can tell, i'm probably pissed after drinking on a friday night, but i'm still deadly serious, have the door, it works for me

EDIT: actually I remember (well i don't remember) some code you coud type in that allowed you to see the path you were in, I thought that was so cool, it was something like $g$p or something else, it'll come to me later, it might have even added the ">" but the n some fancy DOS version came out where you didn't even have to type that in, boy were we spoiled, and windows, there were plenty of operating systems that tried to be wysiwyg before windows, but no one else took off and bill gates got rich the c*nt,

But it's funny that no one remembers that he started dos, everyone thinks windows took over dos, but it was gates that is responsible for both, so basically windows is a higher version dos like AGS is to AC

Edit 2: And yes I remember the Vic20 & C64 and the Early Apples, I think The 2c was the first I mucked around with and was much above the c64, but I love the C64,

what are we thinking with the internet, we are just not cool anymore
