Haven't posted a pic for a while, This is the view from my balcony

it looks like you photoshoped yourself onto that pic lol  :P

It kinda does now that you mention it. I'd say it is to do with using the flash, cause otherwise I would have been more of a silhouette. but I can guarantee that I'm not perfect at photoshop cause I'm sure a pro can zoom in and tell there isn't any photoshopping.

I tried to do something about it before it came, and I don't think we've seen the full effect in Australia yet.

Mid last year I was starting to feel it cause we kept having interest rate rises and I was struggling to pay all my mortgage and bills.

I thought about a new job and living somewhere a bit cheaper but somewhere pretty nice, not a major city but still one big enough to have enough opportunity for work.

Decided to move to the Gold Coast in Queensland, been here since 6thNov 08, and am renting my place out in Sydney for a good price guaranteed for 2 years.

Got a job before I planned to move, and had the flexibility of them giving me a few months to sort myself out and move. The new job pays more (I think I was just getting screwed in my old job) and I pay less rent, and am on the edge of a river, with river and ocean views from the 8th floor.

So far it is working out, the move was based purely on my financial situation, and seemed like a good opportunity to go somewhere different for a while. And it has been a wise move, warm weather everyday, probably too hot a lot of the time, just been getting a bit cooler in the evenings lately which is nice.

I don't know how long term this thing is but with all these stimulus packages, we'll all be paying it off the rest of our lives

General Discussion / Re: Snow!

While the Northern Hemisphere is getting loads of snow, I know it has been one of the hottest summers recorded over here in Australia,

Especially in the South Eastern quarter. Record amount of days over 40 celcius in a row in Adelaide, was over 45 one day (over 113 F)

The morgue's are full down there at the moment.

Melbourne copped it too, and Sydney and Canberra to a lesser extent but still high 30's and are expecting mid 40's over the weekend.

I'm living on the Gold Coast these days near Brisbane (closer to the equator) and it hasn't been quite as hot, around 30 everyday sometimes in the mid 30's.

I'm glad I've made the move, the summers aren't as extreme, but still more humid than down south.

Winters are getting colder and summers are getting hotter all over the world, supposedly to do with global warming, but it's really hard to know as these things have naturally happened in the long history of the planet without our input, numerous times over.

Interesting times though.

There's only a couple of places that get snow in Australia and it isn't that good, most people into winter sports fly over to New Zealand if they want better skiing, snow boarding etc or go to Europe or Canada.

I prefer the beach to the snow any day

There's also floods in tropical North QLD from a Cyclone (Hurricane) and been lots of fires in the south, cause all the fire bugs come out in the hot weather

Not sure if this has much bearing on weather conditions, but with the Earths elliptical orbit of the sun. The Southern Hemisphere's summer occurs when the Earth is closest to the sun, while The Northern Hemisphere's Summer is at it's furthest point from the sun. I think weather has more to do with cycles of air movement and water currents though. But UV may be higher in the S.H. and with the hole in the ozone layer, skin cancer is the thing to worry about

Sounds interesting, I'm sure someone would enjoy studying you.

If you get good feelings from it, lucky you, most people need drugs, if you can get sensations this way, it is much cheaper.

If it doesn't kill you, can't see any reason it would be bad, if the come down isn't good, that's the same with any good feeling when it goes. otherwise your body wouldn't know the difference between good and bad feelings.

Just go with it.

On a different note, I've been bitten by wasps a few times, it really hurts and burns initially, but once the poison effects you, it is the most insane feeling, probably just adrenalin, but it is something I look forward to. (as long as it is not a deadly one, or a swarm)

once I was bitten twice in 2 days, the second day, it wasn't as intense cause I'd probably already built up some immunity or tolerance. So best not to chase any good feelings, just let them happen as rare as possible and they will always be at the most intense.

Hey Squinky,

I've possibly noticed you not around, I haven't been here much for years but still have my home page set here, so I have a browse every now and then, it's good to hear from people you've know for a number of years.

Good to see you're still about

Yeah, getting more excited everyday now, my move will be about 1000km north of where I am, It'll be a little bit warmer generally all year, but probably more humid and a bit more rain than I'm used to (any rain would be more). A move to continue my adventure thru life, my job is an adventure everyday too. I've set myself up for lifestyle not money. and I've enjoyed it so much more. With investments to back me up, and just lucky I'm going from the biggest city in the country with property in a decent area, so it gives me something to set a family up with, when I finally get to that stage, it's all part of the major plan.

But ready to keep partying at the moment, and moving to another happening place, I'll hopefully settle down, I thought I'd settled down in my 20's but I keep living in places where I meet younger people. Even some of my friends have kids the same age as my friends.

But yes Cj the dreaded moving, driving the car back and forth, I'll be doing that this weekend, just temporarily at my parents before I make the trip interstate, I may get a furnished place if I can, to save moving much, and I'm leaving my place part furnished, so Possibly even buying furniture after I move. I've moved a bit over the years, but not as often as every year. Been at my current place for 3 years, but it has run its course. It's been awesome, and that is what I can take out of the last 3 years.

Yeah, that's not so much fun, especially when you are at a good place and you don't get a choice in staying.

There are other more major reasons why people move, eg. fleeing wars. And they are not accepted well in the places they end up. not all the time anyway.

General Discussion / Moving House thread

This is a topic everyone will come across in there lives, at any age.

I've been doing a lot of planning lately and am moving myself interstate. From Sydney NSW to the Gold Coast QLD.

I have my own property which I'm renting out in Sydney, which is in a good area and gets me a good return, I'm positively geared, if anyone understands, so in a good position.

I have already lined up a job on the Gold Coast, which I can start whenever I like, which I picked a date, and am organising myself around that. So will be relocating myself to a completely new area.

I do have friends there, and really good old friends that will be so good to see regularly again, but not as many people I can just visit randomly, but there is still phone and internet i guess.

It was also more an Idea, 'I don't get time for holidays with my work, why not turn my work into a holiday,' I'm actually getting paid more with the new job too, and will get more holidays, so everything seems to be working out for the better, and in these strange times, I still seem to be able to pull thru. I've done it tough at times but things are looking up.

I'm so looking forward to meeting lots of new people, it is such an open friendly culture up there, you only have to go there once to know what I'm talking about.

I plan to keep moving north till I collect everything I want on the way (ie wife and kids) and find a place to settle that we can all enjoy, prob somewhere more tropical. Well sounds like a good plan, and I will make it work.

It will be a big change but I've gone about everything so far, so casually, it will probably be a good transition.

What are other peoples moving experiences? or reasons for moving?

I had a whole bunch of ink cartridge's that I thought were for my printer but they were for another model of the same brand.

The only difference I could see was the plastic key on the cartridge not fitting the slot on my printer. I snapped off the key from the cartridge and then it fitted in fine and worked.

What is the point of having different cartridges for different printers of the same brand, where the only difference is the way it slots in, surely they would make more money if it wasn't so hard to find the right one. fucken idiots getting fucked by their own stupidity

Don't mind the Simpsons, It's interesting, They have stopped running the Simpsons every night on free to air TV since the start of this year (in Australia), which is good, as it has been on every night for who knows how long, at least 12-13 years (since they had enough series to run it every night) I think they are even playing the new episodes on pay TV so not everyone gets to see them.

So it's really the first time it has not been thrown in your face and if you are a fan you can still see it if you have pay tv, though they have replaced the simpsons with reruns of Friends, which is I guess better than running that Raymond show.

General Discussion / Re: I started a diet!
Fri 18/04/2008 08:06:50
I need to gain weight I'm about 175cm & 60kg, I've just lost about 8kg over about 6 months, which I really didn't need to lose, but just my lifestyle I've been leading has made me lose weight.

I eat plenty of junk food, and loads of beer, but I exercise too much for the amount of calories I consume.

working 8hrs a day, partying for 12hrs and sleeping for 4 hrs is probably part of the reason.

But just the simple facts, if you want to lose weight, there's no rush or quick fix (unless you do it biggest loser style [and even then it takes time]) it is as basic as burning more calories than you consume.

If you think you have a slow metabolism, after some regular exercise it will speed up.

Also remember if you build muscle exercising, you may put on weight, as muscle is about 4 times heavier than fat.

Also if someone says something about turning Fat into Muscle, it is bullshit and they don't know what they are talking about. it is physically, biologically and chemically impossible. you can shrink down the size of your fat cells and increase your muscle mass, but as for fat becoming muscle, if it has happened to you, you are obviously not from this planet.

Not being rude to anyone but I've never really considered anyone here a friend in the same way I consider friends I see.

I have never been good at communicating with people over the internet, it all seems too fake to me (note: this is just me), although this community is good, I'm not here often enough, there's people that have helped me with scripting etc which I've appreciated, but I've never felt close enough to anyone to consider jetting off overseas to meet up, that's all too nerdy for me, I've seen all the pics. I hate to mention names cause I'll forget some people but off the top of my head, the names that stand out as people I'd call acquaintances (and these people probably barely remember me).

Las Naranjas, MillsJRoss, Squinky, Gilbot, Dave Gilbert, SSH, Petteri, Juncmodule, Scorpiorus and my best buddy The RPG Creator but not CJ that wanker can go get F.....jk

This will be my 1991st post in 5.5 years

and considering that this forum only dates back 2 more months anyone saying they've posted for more than that, are forgetting that it doesn't include the count from EZboards, where they were probably little shits posting heaps there anyway

I've released 2 games, a medium length and a MAGS

I've also almost completed a Full length game that I've been sitting on for over 4 years. it's funny that it was almost complete xmas 2003, I've almost considered releasing it as a demo, but it would piss people off how close you actually get to the end without finishing. If anyone remembers what I'm talking about and wants to play it, I may be able to help you out. (but I have to know you [and you have to know what game])
