Just been up in Cairns in the tropical north of Australia again for a brief holiday, about 2,500km 1,550 miles north of Sydney (where I live). Had great weather and it's pretty consistent temperatures (20-29C  68-84F) every day.

Just thought I'd post a few sample photo's of my trip:

Catching a boat out to Fitzroy Island, 45min trip from Cairns in the Great Barrier Reef

Ariving in tropical paradise 8)

Going for a walk eventually up to the summit, quite a steep track but some awesome views

I could have sworn I saw Herman down near those rocks

Sunset

The beaches around this Island are made up of coral, quite large pieces

Leaving the Island :'(

Back on the mainland I did a little trip to a place called Kuranda on a scenic old fashioned railway

Barron Falls

The Barron River

Catching the Skyrail back to Cairns which is fairly long and goes over the top of lush rainforest

That's just a fraction of the photo's I took, I found it hard to narrow it down, and all the sizes are reduced from 1600 * 1200 and reduced quality to save download time, so the large versions are much better.

Hope someone gets some enjoyment from them.

If you missed my previous holidays, you can see them here:

the entire series was decided by two runs. Awesome.

That is about the difference between the 2 sides at the moment (or McGrath slipping on the ball in the warm up before the 2nd test hence twisting his ankle and being out of the match [really makes you realise what he's worth to the team])

Do they ship these outside the USA? cause according to the shipping restrictions:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
U.S. Protectorates (including Puerto Rico)

Only the following items can be shipped to U.S. Protectorates:

    * baby items
    * books
    * DVDs
    * music
    * software
    * toys
    * VHS videos
    * video games

Learn more about shipping to U.S. Protectorates.
International Addresses

Only the following items can be shipped to destinations outside the U.S.:

    * books
    * DVDs
    * music
    * VHS videos

doesn't look like they ship software internationally unless I'm missing something

So it's not really much excitement unless you live in the USA.

but I suppose it may bring down the ebay prices

Yeah, congrats winning the ashes, well, we had em for 16 years and 29 days even though they remained in the museum at Lords.

It was a great series, all 5 games, and to win 2-1 was as close as it gets, the weather was a factor, but I think England played well enough to deserve it as much as I hate saying it.

It's going to be interesting when McGrath and Warne retire, cause we are yet to have some experience to fill the gap. England have got some great bowlers in Flintoff, Harmison and Jones, and I think they were the difference (appart from all those fkn clouds and rain) Bring on 06-07 back home

Rain: haven't seen it down here, I heard it's something that happens in England

Spiders are my friends, I come across hundreds everyday, I don't pick them up, but quite often I see them hanging from my hat climbing up the web.

I walk through webs all day long, sometimes big spiders end up on my clothes, I just brush them off and continue on my way.

I also live in an area with quite venomous spiders and snakes, but it's actually quite hard to even find them unless you know where to look. (and when you know where to look they're quite numerous)

The Huntsman that Las mentioned is quite numerous and often found in the house, they look more scary than they are and are harmless, I've had them in my car while I've been driving crawl across my head and fall in my lap which can be freaky but lucky I don't have arachnophobia, the trick is just to stay calm.

You can't stop a well planned terrorist attack (everytime), no matter how good you think your security is. It happens when you least suspect it. It's a terrible thing but that's just the world we live in.

It creates wars that kill many more people, which causes more attacks, etc, endless cycle

Tsunami Kills more people than all combined, lets declare a war on mother nature, oh yeah, we allready have.

My advise, just be friendly to people and accept people for who they are.

It may seem like a small thing, but if it rubs off on a few people, it may spread, and eventually everyone will be friendly. (no i'm not a hippy)

Then someone thinks, why is everyone so friendly, I can take advantage of them, and bingo, vicious cycle.

I don't think much has changed, just the location of a few recent bombs, which happen to be in more media driven places.

You brag about living in a free country, then someone that doesn't gets pissed off and tries to make you see how they've grown up, it's pretty childish and taken to extreme levels.

I also don't see much point to this thread

I've had this one for a while, It's a photo I took just over a year ago looking up to Cape Byron, the most Easterly point on the Australian coastline

Can someone (preferably timosity or a moderator) go through the links on the first page and update them all adding in the new ones, deleting the old, editing the change of addresses etc.

I completey agree with auhsor above. Away with this thread already!

I agree too, as I don't have time to go through and edit the post, and yes, as auhsor said

I'm thinking that this thread is fairly redundant now because of the fact that this page: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/memberwebs.php lists members webpages from the link in their profiles.

although it doesn't update broken links, I'm sure people can find pleanty of info from the ones that do work.

It's turning into an interesting series, now still 1-1 after 3 matches.

The 3rd test was exciting, even though it ended in a draw after 5 days. There could have been a result up to the final ball, but the Aussies hung on after England were on top the whole match. that would have to be so demoralising for the poms. 2 matches left, it'll be hard to match the excitement of the last 2.

I saw a fair bit of the Test, It was nailbiting stuff at the end, I was on the edge of my seat and really nervous, It was really hard to watch. I really expected England to get the 2 wickets quickly, but Lee and Kasprowicz did unbelievably well to get so close.

A good result though, If Australia were 2 games up with 3 to go, the series would just about be over, Now it's very much alive, It's hard to see a match going the full 5 days the way these 2 teams play, unless it's rain effected.

It's about time Australia had some real competition in this sport. Looking forward to Old Trafford on thursday.

You're with your family I'm assuming and since you're under 18 I can't recommend any pubs.

To be honest, I live here and I hate going into the city, unless there's something specific to do. (but that's because I've done it all)  But it's always good to just walk around unfamiliar territory.

If you like the beach I'd prefer Manly over Bondi (which are the beaches we send the tourists  so the best beaches aren't disturbed) Manly is very nice though (as much as I hate the footy team)

It's been perfect winter weather here for the past few weeks 23 C with perfect clear blue skies, probably like your summer weather (until tomorrow)

It totally depends what you want to experience, whether it be Zoo's, Museums, bush walks, cruising in the harbour.

I'm sure you'll find something interesting (until you go to Canberra)

I was just doing some mucking around with Google Earth to see what places around the world were at the same Latitude as my place in Sydney, approx: "33 degrees 44 minutes 10.89 seconds" south of the equator.

Heading out East I quite comfortably pass over the top of New Zealand

South America
- just south of Santiago, Chile
- just north of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Africa
- halfway between Cape Town & Atlantis in South Africa

and that about raps up the Southern Hemisphere as far as places with names on Google Earth to reference from.

I also had a look at the equivalent latitude North of the equator (33 degrees 44 minutes 10.89 seconds) as there is more land mass up there

Japan
- pretty much in line with these cities, Koga, Nogata, Yukuhashi

Iraq
- Bagdad

Europe
- Pretty much passes europe completely underneath through the Mediterranean Sea until it hits Africa

Africa
- ad-Dar-al-Bayda, Morocco

It was easier to be more specific in North America as there is better coverage there and more names of places, malls, etc to get references from

North America
- On the east coast- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - and this is pretty much at the exact equivalent latitude
- Atlanta, Georgia - pretty much in the centre of the city
- just north of Phoenix
- On the west coast - Seal Beach, California, just South of LA, the beach directly south of Long Beach - exact equivalent Latitude

It's a pretty pointless excercise, but it's fun using Google Earth to find out trivial stuff about the world

Good Luck and have a great time, I'm sure you will

If that final Footy game you're talking about is the Broncos Vs Raiders, Go the Raiders (although I did tip the Broncos)

Congrats Kinoko,

I just read the thread from the hypothetical to the reality, well done and I hope it all goes down well with the folks, if you're all pretty close, I'm sure it will be exciting for everyone involved.

As for my personal views, I'd probably only get maried if the girl proposed (but don't quote me on it), as I personally don't see it as a necessity, if you love someone that much you don't need a fancy overpriced party, a few vowes, some rings and a piece of paper to prove it.

I guess it's just an old tradition.

But I'd go through with it if the girl wanted it. (and I wasn't financially involved)

Good Luck

I agree with everyone (well the ones I read), and I think Las summed it up the most efficiently or Gilbot

I think it's funny if I remember correctly, that Helm had a go at Yufster for a similar reason when she first arrived and then he seemed to disappear for a year or so.

As mentioned, it's just a cycle thing.

I haven't read a lot of posts lately so I have know idea how bad it's got, But as Yakspit said, if you don't find it interesting, ignore it and find something that does interest you.

I wonder if Kickme will come back, or was it just DG????

Congrats London, the best thing about the Olympics is the partying that goes along with it, The streets and pubs are completely packed 24 hrs and heeps of other free outdoor events go on. There's big TV screens everywhere, and there is just a buzz in the air. You'll probably never experience it again (unless you travel following it)

You'll never see as many people in your city either.

As far as Sydney's Olympic Park goes, it does get used for all sorts of club, national and international sports. Eg. Basketball, Hockey, League, Union, Soccer, Aussie Rules, Baseball etc

The stadium isn't filled that often, and I agree with Las that when there's 30,000 people there it still looks empty.

But when it comes to Grand Finals, Origin, Bledisloe cup etc, it allows most people if they want a ticket, to get it before it sells out. It's hard to beat 80,000 - 90,000 people cheering, although it did used to hold 110,000 temporarily for the Olympics There aren't many stadiums in the world with that sort of capacity.

Here it is on google maps.

General Discussion / Re: Origin II Tomorrow

Well the Blues Smashed em in Origin III 32-10, and at the Maroons home ground.

I thought Matt King should have got player of the series, how much does he look like Matt Stone, he even looked more like him when he had the hair.

I think I saw Kinoko in the crowd crying, they zoomed right in on her, and Matty Johns said now there's a woosy little Queenslander.

Well that's it for another year.

I'm quite a fan of Tennis and watch all the Grand Slams and have since I was a kid.

Federer has it all in all aspects at such a young age, I think he's only 23.

I don't like Hewitt as a person but he's the 2nd best Tennis player in the world, and I enjoy watching him play. It's sick that his 'C'mon' antics are catching on, I even saw Sharapova doing it.

It's unbelievable the shots Federer pulls off, He's a class above the next group of players down that are all pretty even. He beat Hewitt & Roddick in consecutive matches (SF & Final) in straight sets, and both those players were playing at the top of their games, and are the next 2 best players in the world.

As far as looks go with an attitude to match, I hope Sharapova doesn't go down the same path as that other Russian chick.

Attitude isn't everything though, cause I think McEnroe was a great player and his antics are part of classic History now, He's actually quite a funny guy.
