Beer is great, I enjoy drinking beers from all over the world, Australian beers are good, but as with most countries, the mass produced beers are not as good as the less commercial one's (excluding Guinness, [although I'm sure there are better beers in Ireland that I've never had])

In Aus the popular beers differ between states but the main ones are Victoria Bitter (VB), Tooheys New (new) and XXXX (four x) and are standard tap beers in pubs (although XXXX is a Queensland beer and tastes like shit)

Carlton Draught is an alternative to the other 3 which I prefer, but it's still not my favourite but a cheap beer.

Tooheys Old can be good for a change up occasionally, it's a Stout beer.

Tasmania produces better beers eg. Cascade, and Boags, The Cascade Brewery is the oldest brewery in Australia.

My favourite Australian beer comes from South Australia, Coopers, they have a variety of beers, more a home brew style taste.

International beers I like include Guinness and Kilkenny, more acquired tasting beers, but once you've acquired that taste every now and then that little voice in your head tells you to drink it. Malty thick type beers go off,

Stella Artois is another I quite like.

And it is true that Forster's isn't that popular in Australia, its not even on taps in most bars. It would have to make its money overseas or it would go broke (probably not but I don't know anyone who drinks it [in Australia]).

I had quite a  beer drinking weekend this weekend, Friday, Saturday and a few quite ones Sunday evening. I haven't done that for a while, but a good unplanned weekend.

I like beer threads, but most people around here are either too young, don't like beer or are recovering alcoholics.

I really cannot stress how utterly silly it is, you may as well claim that during one party's previous governments there have been more cyclones, ergo electing that party will bring more cyclones.

That's so true and unbelievably annoying (i'm no economist but I'm not stupid), in one of the tv ads, the libs quote the interest rates at the time of labors terms but fail to even mention theirs, so there's not even anything to compare it to (even though that would prove nothing)

It's also frustrating that the libs claim to have wiped out a lot of debt, but in the process they've sold off some major assets like half of Telstra, if there's more debt in the future there's no more assets to sell, therefore they are really just temporarily adjusting funds to look good in the short term, Fuckndumbcunts!!!

And I love the cyclones analogy, perfect way to put it.

Well there's less than 2 days to go, I'm sick of all the shit campaigning on TV at least it will be over soon.

What's annoying is I have got no idea what the Liberals have to offer, all they seem to do is put down Latham but forget to say what good they will do.

At least Labor attempt to have some possitive campaigning, I give credit to parties that don't just try to put the other guy down.

It's all just bullshit anyway as what they say now won't necessarily happen.

All I can say is we need a change of goverment and I'm not a Labor supporter but I'll put them much higher up my list, and as always the Liberals will be at the very bottom.

another thing in Aus is that it's quite big to have a Bet on the Election and you can pretty much bet on any aspect of it. Can you legally bet on elections in other countries? is it a popular thing?

the liberal prick (philip ruddock) in my electorate is not worth betting on, I read in my local paper that his odds are 1.01 to 1 with a minimum bet of $100, if I put $10,000 on it I make a cool $100, but I doubt they'd even take bets like that.

General Discussion / Re: Seducing a Teacher
Sat 02/10/2004 12:48:05
I think it has more to do with the fact it's a teacher and not necessarily the age.

I think if a 25 year old teacher has sex with their 30 year old student it is still a violation.

I know in Australia the legal age for sex is 16 (it may be 18 for homosexual sex, but that's another debate)

So all you have to do is either change schools or get him to change schools and everything will be set.

For the seduction, it's simple, just record a video of yourself shaving your bikini zone (most guys hate girls with hairy chests) and post it on your website, then send him an email. Guys love that stuff.

you could also just slip the video into his suitcase, but then you risk the chance of the masses not seeing it.

Of course a 25 yr old dating an 18 yr old wouldn't get much respect from the general community, but who knows, they could be perfect for each other. who would notice when He's 35 and she's 28. My best mate is 28 and he's dating a 38 yr old with 2 kids. I know that's different to being a minor but age isn't always a guide.

Most Australians missed our debate cause they were watching Australian Idol. Surely there was an ant walking across the table that was more intreresting

Is the debate in the US a popular thing to watch?

Sadly enough I live in an electorate with a fuckup for a candidate, who will win no matter what, as much as he's screwed up (which he has majorly). I just can't see how a seat can be so safe with Phillip Ruddock sitting in it, it boggles the mind, It just makes me sick.

It just shows that often people are just brought up to vote for a certain party no matter who the representative is in the particular area

Shit, after the 15th of September, (which you advertised for like 3 months) I thought we'd be rid of you for good, now you say you've been cleaning yourself of your past, well why are you coming back here for. :P

Sounds like your enjoying yourself, I'm sure it will be a good experience for you, just make sure you keep an open mind. I'm sure if you take it more seriously than AGS, you'll do great, and make some good friends.

So I guess we can expect a game about clowns with gonorrhea teaching safe six to sex yearolds ???

Enjoy, get as much out of it as you can, learn as much about yourself and others as you can before trying to pass on too much, Good Luck.

I saw a few snippets on the news, but I must say, I could never see bush winning a debate, ever, against most people in general. I hope the debate has some impact on the general public.

Our prime minister john howard is pretty bad at public speaking too, he can speak ok but it's all planned, he can't think on the spot and isn't even good at bullshitting to get around questions he doesn't want to answer (all questions)

We had our debate a couple of weeks ago and Howard lost to opposition leader Mark Latham (who speaks quite well) 66% to 33% which is the same percentage Howard lost in the debate in the previous election which he won. so it's not always a guide.

Our election is next weekend, which was made so it was before the US election, cause if bush goes out, howard probably would too.

I really hope Howard gets kicked, but I had the same feel last election and I was way off. Unless it's a close election, We'll know in just over a week.

When is the US election scheduled for?

I really hope bush gets kicked too, regular non voters could really make the difference if they decide to vote.

The most worrying thing in the Australian campaign, and probably every campaign strategy from here on in, is the fact of the size of the aging population around the world. Many of the major calling cards are to the elderly, now I respect the elderly, but the polititians on both sides buy votes by offering gimmicky bullshit just for votes.

I wont get into any specifics cause this post would get too long, I'll just mention the fact that putting economy before environment is such a short sighted view, there is NO Economy without an Environment, fucking idiots.

Deltree (god knows where he is) made a ags movie. http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=2826.0
The rest of the parts were french, but now the whole site is down. :'(

I guess you didn't read my post above, it is still available from the mirror on the games page, link above

It is possible to make movies with AGS, its just like making a large cutscene and you could pretty much do anything you like.

If done well it could be interesting, maybe starting with a short series could help you get started, and see if it's worth doing.

A full movie length production would be hard to pull off, I'd imagine keeping people interested would be hard, but I guess the story would be the key.

It has been done, deltree made a 45min movie using characters and screens from games like double dragon and golden axe.
it is on the games page, but the links don't seem to work.
http://www.agsforums.com/games.php?action=detail&id=146

I may have a copy of it somewhere, I'm not sure but if you are interested, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edit: the download mirror works, click the download link after clicking the mirror, then there are lots of files in the index, the game is in 13 separate downloads and each episode is a standalone game. It's available in french or english.

These tests are stupid and don't prove anything,

I'm not sure about that Andail, you could argue sun fits aswell if you enjoy your suntime or break

I don't understand the point of these tests, unless it's just something to do for a few minutes.

some people do well in tests, some people do well with girls/guys, some people communicate well, some people can spit further than others.

I'll kick all your arses in a spitting contest.

Spoiler
I got 28 and I still don't know what BANALITIES means and I couldn't give a fuck

A couple of years ago I was staying at a mates place for about a month and the nextdoor neighbours were taking advantage of the wellfare system, both parents unemployed living in quite a small rundown house, with 5 kids and 1 on the way.

The wellfare system in Australia is opposite to China, they encourage people to have more kids and offer more money per child.

It is a problem in some areas and it's usually the poorer people that have more kids and use the money for themselves, and quite often for drugs.

The particular family that I was talking about were just like this. The parents were nice people when you had a conversation with them, but they were both drug addicts which causes mood swings and they did quite a lot of yelling at their kids.

The kids were all under the age of 10, and quite friendly outgoing kids. They did wander off quite often, and often came to visit without the parents knowing. the parents cared and came looking, but looking after 5 young kids would be hard, especially when you're off your face all the time.

The eldest boy was often getting into trouble at school, but He cared so much for his brothers and sisters, from what I saw, he was a better parent than his parents.

I felt really sorry for these kids as they won't get the chances as many others given their circumstances, even if they are as smart (if not smarter)

Taking advantage of a welfare system for yourself for a while to get yourself on track is fine, but bringing up a family entirely on welfare just for your own benefit and having extra kids to get more money for drugs is the ultimate worst case scenario, but this happens much more than you'd realise.

I've got a whole bunch (100's) of AGS games from the dawn of time, I uploaded Permanent Daylight & Who Killed Kenny Rogers here:

http://members.lycos.co.uk/timosity/2ma2.html

I'm sure Linus Larsson wouldn't mind, but it's only temporary, if someone wants to host it, I can't give permission but go for it. At least it's now accessable to a few people that care.

I don't think you can hotlink from here so don't bother trying.

I'll keep an eye out for any other games people list that I may have hidden away somewhere.

Maybe someone with a decent server can collect these lost archives and have a site dedicated to re-found AGS games. Just an idea

As much as that holiday sucked, you'll look back on it in years to come and laugh about it, those little things will stick in your memory and it might even be something you talk about for years to come. You can tell the little one on the way in a few years that he/she was on that very holiday.

And what's this rain stuff you talk about, I've heard of it, apparently its like having a shower or something, but you're outside. strange concept.

I'm still on holidays at the moment, and it was a brilliant day today, it's really starting to feel like summer, so I went to some of my favourite places in Sydney. Forget the Harbour, that's just what they show tourists (although it is spectacular, it's not my favourite place), there's some really beautiful coastline and beaches in Sydney, and I'm not talking about the touristy traps like Bondi and Manly (that's where all the poms live) If you go a bit further North it's just incredible.

While I've been working in these areas lately I've been looking for some places to get the best shots, but it's really hard because you walk around every corner, even past every house and you think now that would be a great shot. If I won a Few million Dollars, the first thing I'd do is buy a house around here. I've included a photo I took earlier at the end to give an idea of where the places I talk about are (If anyone really cares)

This is Bilgola beach on the right and Newport on the left, Bilgola is a beach I frequent during summer.

This view didn't come out as well as I'd hoped, but this is Bilgola Plateau which has some great views down the coast.

Now if you've ever wondered why there was a TV show called "Bay Watch Hawaii", it was because it was originally going to be Bay Watch Down Under. it was all ready to go and they'd filmed an introductory movie episode but the locals kicked up a big fuss and didn't want them taking over their beach, so they told them to fuck off and behold the birth of  Bay Watch Hawaii. This is Avalon, where it was going to be. The next beach along from Bilgola.

Now this is Palm Beach, with the headland at the end called Barrenjoey Head, I was planning on walking up to the lighthouse but the track was closed because of a helicopter doing something. This peninsula is spectacular with the ocean on the right and Pittwater on the left. The Island on the left is Lion Island. There is also a golf course on the left.

Some people kite surfing at Palm Beach.

This is the helicopter that was buzzing around that stopped me from walking up the headland. Interesting, I never noticed the blades weren't moving, how is this possible??

They also film a soap at palm beach "Home & Away" which some people may have seen, I think Yufster watches it, but I doubt she'll see this thread. I took a few pictures of them filming.

This is just another view of Palm Beach from someones house, I read their water meter a few weeks ago.

This is looking up to the Central Coast of NSW across Broken Bay.

I've posted this picture before (Broken Bay), but I've labelled it to bring the photos into some kind of perspective. Sydney CBD is about 40km south in the direction the plane is flying.

So these are some areas I work in, but as spectacular as they are, it's probably one of the hardest areas as some of the streets are extremely steep and I have to climb up some cliffs occasionally. I park my car and walk around these areas and a few weeks ago I couldn't even drive up this hill in first gear, friggin steep.

I hope I haven't bored anyone too much but I've really been getting into this photography thing lately.
#337
Thanks for the replies people, sorry about the size of the files, I reduced the size of the pictures but forgot to reduce the quality before uploading, It cost me a lot more than 20cents to get these photos but it was well worth it.

As I type this there is a little bit of rain falling outside, so it does rain occasionally, but on the serious side of things it is still very much in drought and the weather may look really nice (which it is) but the dams that supply our water aren't getting filled at all. In Sydney I think we just went below 40% capacity and for a city with 4 million people it's really becoming a serious problem.

Yes and I ate a few Chickens on the journey

Timosity: I think there's a legal case that shows journalists can still own copyright over their work, even if they work for a media organisation. I think the case was De Garis vs Neville Jefferess Pidler in 1990. At least, that's what one of my books says.

You're probably right, but I guess it's always good practice to go over your contracts carefully
#339
There are separate copyrights for music and lyrics from the same song.

On the note of photos and articles in a paper, usually if you have a contract with a particular media group, within that contract you are probably signing the rights over to them, but I'd say that is not always the case. But the point is you can also own someones copyright if they sign it over to you.

But back on topic, I really doubt any AGS games reach enough audience to make any owner of any protected material care too much, they might frown, or maybe even be flattered, but I don't think you'll get sued.

I haven't been sued yet, so that proves it.

Just got back from my little trip up the NSW coast.

Started on sunday morning making the trip up to Byron Bay (a possible mittens location)

It was a 9 hour drive from Sydney about 780km (485 miles) North

It's much closer to Brisbane, about 160km (100 miles) South

I arrived just before sunset:

Looking south from Cape Byron (the most Easterly point on the Australian coast)

Looking north, Byron Bay at dusk

The lighthouse on the cape

Looking south towards the cape

Byron Bay

From the cape

Looking to Cape Byron from Lennox Head

This is the first time I have actually stopped at Byron Bay and had a look around, It's commonly known as a place with hippies and drugs, but It didn't seem like that at all, sure those types exist there but there's more of them in the city anyway.

I only stayed there for 2 nights but it was probably my favourite part of the trip, It's quite a small town, and it has a great aura about it. It was out of any holiday period which was a good thing, there were mainly surfers and English Backpackers hangin about, it's quite an alternative place.

I decided to drive up to the border of NSW and QLD as it was only about 60km (37 miles) further North, I ended up going past the border and made it as far as Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast about 80km (50 miles) south of Brisbane.

I literally got out of the car, walked onto the beach, took this snap, then raced back to my car and headed back to the safety of NSW.

I should have just stopped at Coolangatta, which is the first town in QLD on the border, which I took this photo looking towards Surfers.

So that was about as much of QLD I saw on the trip, but I didn't even plan on going that far north.

My next stop was in a larger town called Coffs Harbour where I stayed another 2 nights, It wasn't as nice as Byron Bay but it was still very nice. The place is famous for growing Bananas and the home of that thug of an actor, you know the one who always puches people out and also plays in a real shitty band, Russel Cow or something.

This was across the road from the motel I stayed in

This is the jetty that extends into the harbour

One of the reasons I stayed at Coffs Harbour was cause it's close to a World Heritage Area, Dorrigo National Park, about an hours drive from Coffs.

I went on a bushwalk in the park and ran into some interesting creatures.

This is a Brush Turkey, which is fairly common, but you don't see them in Sydney

This is a Goanna which is a fairly large Lizard

This was a nice little waterfall, Cedar Falls, I was surprised that there was any water falling seeing as there has been little rain for quite a long time.

This was a nice view of the National Park from a lookout.

From Coffs Harbour I made the trip south to Newcastle stopping at a few places on the way.

The first place was Nambucca Heads, I just like the name of the place, it is a nice place too

Port Macquarie

Tuncurry, I stopped here for lunch with the pelicans, I know this place fairly well as I used to come here for holidays when I was a kid.

Newcastle, this was one of my favourite places to go when I lived in this town a few years back. This particualr beach is 3 beaches in 1, the north end is Bar Beach, the middle is Dixon Park Beach and the southern end is Merewether Beach, I used to love watching thunder storms from here.

I realised that I wasn't in any of my photos and couldn't prove I was actually there, and this still doesn't prove it but I took a couple of photos of myself when I was bored.

I didn't want to use the flash straight at my head so they are a bit dark

Me proving you don't necessarily get fat by eating a shitload of junk food

Well that's about the extent of my adventure, over 2000km (1240 miles) of driving in 6 days, I enjoyed myself and I couldn't have asked for better weather as you may have noticed from the photos, not 1 drop of rain the entire trip.

If you missed my last holiday (Winter in the Tropics) you can see it here,
