Thanks for letting me know I wasn't stuck, man, it took a while to figure out the puzzle, but I got there in the end.

Cheers

I have this funny feeling I have to back track and I have no idea how far in The Shadow of the Templars.

I'm in Spain in the Well and I think I need a torch to enter the black hole in the wall, it gave some message about: I wish I got the torch off that bad dude, maybe in Ireland or something. And the old dude that waters the garden says he doesn't have a torch.

I don't think I can go and catch a plane anywhere, Am I stuck or is there some work around? like as if I couldn't pick up the candle,

silly adventures that don't have logical multiple solutions.

sorry to post this here, but I figure people around here will know (if they understand where I am in the game)

Spoiler
Green, That's the colour I think of instantly before I have time to really think, blue would be next. I think it goes back to those pot smoking days. I think pink too but that's a whole different story

General Discussion / Re: Athens 2004
Thu 12/08/2004 08:47:54
During the Olympics, if its in your city, prepare for a couple of weeks of partying, it's unbelievable & nobody seems to be at work for the whole time.

During the Sydney one's I was off for 2 or 3 weeks and I'd never seen the city so packed (and it probably never will have that many people again, well not until the next olympics whenever that may be, if ever)

And I don't mean anything about the actual sporting events, It's just an awesome atmosphere wherever you are, pleanty of free gigs and other events, Huge screen TV's everywhere.

The nightlife will never be the same in your life again so make the most of it.

The Australian media have been ripping Athens preparation since the last Olympics, and moreso in the last few months. I don't believe the media, and the only reason is cause Our media still hasn't got over the last olympics and they don't think anyone can ever top the success of the Sydney games, plus Australians are very particular when it comes to any sporting event.

Just Enjoy it whether you watch any of the sports or not

General Discussion / Re: Work boredom
Wed 11/08/2004 08:48:39
Um, My works totally different, I cant really do anything different when I'm bored, maybe light up a ciggy.

I walk around streets all day reading water meters, (includes jumping fences, digging in gardens, searching through garden jungles, getting attacked by dogs) If I finish early I just get to go home early without it effecting my pay.

I don't have internet access, but soon we might be updating the current system, so we have a phone that's hooked up to a wap site which instantly uploads the readings to the company. but I really don't think I'd bother using a phone to look on the internet.

At least I don't have to stare at a computer all day, I'm glad I got out of that fuktup world.

General Discussion / Re: Play your own games?
Tue 10/08/2004 08:45:00
I play my games every once in a while, just like I play all my other favourite games (not saying mine are my favourites)

I haven't for a while though, and as I've been remaking LSL3, I've played through my version of it 100's of times for testing purposes, and I've played through the original countless times so I know inside out exactly every possibility (appart from the secrets only Al knows about)

It's interesting to see where you were (in the head) at the time.

I often wonder if anyone actually understood all the aspects of my MAGS effort Saddson Issein, cause I really doubt it.

I just typed satellite photos into google and found this site

http://www.terraserver.com/

I searched up Sydney where I live and I could view a satellite image and pan around

I'm sure there's other sites you can find as well

If that's what you like to call saltwater crocodiles, It's only a 2metre female croc, they get much bigger, and the males are larger. But this was the biggest one I saw on the river cruise & I only had a disposable camera.

I posted a thread about my holiday a while ago but it slipped off the first page before anybody noticed (or cared) but if anyone wants to look at some sights in QLD (where mittens wont be) you can have a look here http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=14774.0

I would like to go to see the monsoon in north Australia... If Mittens could be timed to match this I'd come along! I may come along anyway, but I would REALLY love to see the monsoon. (I read about that it happened, and was almost as hooked as I am on the idea of visiting a mangrove swamp... do you get them in Australia as well? A Mangrove swamp in the monsoon, and I'd probably never leave!

The areas that mittens might be are not really close to the monsoon area and it's probably from about November to May.

But there are definately mangrove swamps, there are mangroves pretty much around the whole of Australia.

The tropical mangrove swamps also contain creatures that you wouldn't want to run into

This was in June this year in the Daintree Rainforest in Northern QLD, but it was in the dry season so no monsoonal rains.

As for mittens:
I'm not to fussed where it is, money won't be a problem, having time off work is probably possible, if not, if it goes over a weekend I could probably make a visit. but I hope it's not the Gold Coast.

Late June or Late September are best for me as I may have Holidays (although september cuts into my cricket season so maybe not) but Whenever it is I could probably fit it in.

If Kandy could host it in Townsville it would be warm in winter, but it would probably mean another plane from Brisbane. probably a bit confusing and more expensive

If nightlife is needed you'd probably have to crash at Layabout's place for a night out in Brissy, cause I have no idea what the nightlife is like in Byron Bay, (sit on the couch and smoke bongs all night or something) but I guess you have to go to Bris first to get elsewhere anyway.

Noosa sounds good too cause I've never been there, I'd Love to go to Broome too but that's closer to Singapore.

I still say what I've previously said, but I've recently played all the Broken Sword games, (well I'm in the middle of 1 atm) and I haven't got into games like this since I first played the Sierra & Lucasarts games.

Being at least twice as old as when I played the early sierra games, It can't top the nostalgic effect, but maybe when I'm 42 it'll become more clear.

I can't believe it's been and gone and I didn't even notice anyone was missing, and now you're all back in your respective homes.

I haven't posted or browsed that much lately.

All the photos are great, one obvious standout was the rubix one, the linking of the onion rings.

Well looks like a great time was had by all, and the location looked spectacular (and I'm sure it still does)

I didn't want to bring up any future mittens, but just out of interest, if it was in the Southern Hemisphere would people still want it in June/July (middle of winter [just like an English summer]) or maybe spring? Sep-Nov

General Discussion / Re: Food Update
Thu 29/07/2004 09:54:21
I just read this thread and thought how it turned into what it is.

Anyway, I eat most things, plant or animal.

Chemically they all mix iin with each other, animal decomposion and excretion helps plants to grow and the plants contain minerals from animals, so vegetarians eat nutrients from flesh anyway. and its the same as plants helping animals to grow.

So when it comes down to it, if you're happy with what you're eating, eat it, if not don't.

as mentioed about hormones with animal products, the same thing happens with plant products,

it's probably best to grow organic veges and eat your pets but it's not practical for everyone. this worlds economy revolves around greed, so growing bigger plants and animals quicker, puts faster money in pockets.

I wonder if any of these things assist athlete's without directly taking drugs?

I wouldn't trust this information too much, it may be possible but I'd imagine doing this long term would cause cataract blindness premeturely.

I've never stared at the sun longer than a couple of seconds at a time, it just makes your eyes water and leaves spots in your eyes so you cant see for a little while.

to stare for 5mins, man, that would be hard, and I don't think I'd risk it unless there was more evidence from a larger study than 1 person.

Interesting though

Yeah, I use lycos tripod, and I can't use ftp, it says it supports it and gives you a password for it, but It doesn't work in every country.

I did a google one day and found out it didn't work in Australia, I'm not sure about Greece though. but I'd say it's probably the same reason. It only works from certain IP addresses.

Appart from that, the ads, and the inability to hotlink most file types, it's friggin sweet

I had a lightning strike nearby earlier this year (or late last year) and I'd turned off and unplugged everything during it.

except I haddn't unplugged the cable modem from the wall

when I restarted my computer it didn't boot up

It had fried the network card connected to the cable modem, after I removed the card, the computer could boot up again and nothing else was wrong. I had a spare network card so everything was sweet.

I had a UPS at one stage, It saved me on a few occasions, but when there's a serious thunderstorm, it's best still to turn everything off and unplug everything.

If you turn off and forget to unplug, it means shit when lightning strikes nearby power lines,

just some helpful tips

I just looked in my street directory and there is no Didgeridoo Road of any spelling, in Sydney which is strange I thought.

Even though it was obviously a joke, by the name and the address.

It's funny how the people who did it put no thought into it, on a different piece of paper they may have fooled someone for atleast five minutes.

ermmmm....... the system clock for the machine or the virtual machine

and how do you do that anyway.

Is it a timer issue like a lot of the earlier games where you can use moslo, turbo etc or something else.

anyway, I installed GK3 on XP and it it gets further, it warns you in the install that it might not be fully compatible with XP but after running it, it seems to work fine, but that doesn't mean it will for the full game.

I'm not actually playing the game at the moment, I'm just testing things out,

Thanks for the replies.

I've run into one problem I'm not sure the reason but I tried to run Gabriel Knight 3, it plays the intro fine but when it goes to start the game (this is in win98se) it gives an  "Unknown error" and shuts the game down.

I've also noticed if runniing in full screen mode, on various occasions when I load a game and the res changes it shuts down to windowed mode saying the res was to big for the screen or something.

any ideas from some experienced users?

I haven't tried yet but can you run GK3 or 2 in XP?
