Elementary, my dear!

OK, more of a hybrid adventure game this time... (we're not obsessed with genre conventions, are we?)
Generally speaking, it's in the genre of AWESOME!

Hot, cold - Toonstruck?

These games have "outside" sources,
Lance The Penguine (mediafire.com) --> Not in the AGSarchives database!
The Legend of Rovendale 1 (Download page from Russia http://narod.yandex.ru/100.xhtml?jift.narod.ru/invis/LoR1.rar) --> "Coming soon" in the AGSarchives database.

If they're not stored "internally" they might join the unavailable list at one point. Any suggestions?

Just found this: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/193/

The screenshot is an errorpic from image host and the text says "This demo is no longer available."
That game is in the AGSarchives.com database though and can be downloaded.

If I'm not mistaken, we're through then. The rest of this list are the 'unavailables'.
Now we just have to check if we've got any of those long forgotten games on our computers.
Or the game creators, of course - and Leon!

...it's so much more rewarding to play with the 'Lucky Dip' option in the DB now. Can't stop pushing that button... :=

If there are multiple entries for a game, please let me know the details so I can merge the download counts and such for the two.  Please don't delete anything without consulting me!

I've got one, not with multiple entries per se, but a demo (which isn't available) while the full game is in the database as well:
DEMO: Lost In The Nightmare - Demo
FULL GAME: Lost In The Nightmare v1.1
We could ask the author Gord10 whether he'd be OK with deleting the DEMO, or if he wants to
upload a working demo game file?

Was it not possible to download the game and make a screenshot?

Ahh, darn, I totally forgot to report broken ones as broken - but on the other hand the rest of the list we get should indicate unavailable games anyhow, no? :embarrassed:
OK, sorted. Reported all unavailable games as broken download. Thanks for reminding me Cat! :cheesy:

I will check "Demonslayer 1"...

edit: Ah, these are DOS-games, that's why they don't work, you need DOS-box and some additional files for those.
I can edit those two if you like, Narushima?

From the other letters in the list I'm sure I still have some games so if everyone's finished I can have a go at the list again?
D and E might be still in the making and Q hasn't been done yet, I think?

I can safely say that the sections H I J K L and R contain only relics - no easy downloads, anywhere on the Net. Maybe you can find some in there Leon?

I'm confused, these are two completely different and unrelated game demos, aren't they?
In the database: Red Dwarf Demo by Dan_N released in 2007
In the In-Production thread: Red Dwarf: The Game by Blobby 101, Demo released 2010

Shame so lovely screenshots...to be had, the 'easy way'...arrrrhh! And why isn't the second demo in the database, looks great. Download link is dead though, gonna send him
a PM, he was online in March.

Nice! So far we seem to have covered: #,A,B,C,_,_,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,_,_,_,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z

If some of these are still in the list, it probably means they are either leftovers (i.e. games that are unavailable) or the changes haven't been administered yet.

That seems to leave us with those games starting with D, E, P, Q, R? (...never payed much attention watching Sesame Street though!)

Not absolutely clear about the S through Z section though. Leon and selmiak probably know more...

edit: I'll go with R (down) if that's OK. (Though I definitely wouldn't mind if someone wanted to help out and go bottom-up in R )
And maybe try some of the games in the "vanished" section - though at least half of those seem to be games by FSI++! :cheesy:

I ignored the games that were unavailable in the 'L' section as well. Not such a bad thing, since in the end we should end up with a list
of games that can't be found around the Net.
From there people could search for ancient game skeletons in their 'harddrive closet'.

Okay. I'm just going back through the ABCs using my new powers of editing, and then I'll make a start on MNO.
One game 'Bad Luck' doesn't let me update it and I can't work out why? Any ideas?
Quote from: Narushima on Sat 11/05/2013 16:34:30
I'm tackling M now, I think that's still free.
Check with Stupot, or maybe start from O updwards, Narushima.

I'm working from T downwards...
I know I can continue with gathering info but it has to be administered in the db at some point. Besides, I have all the images on my harddisk so I choose to upload them from there... That's quicker than loading images from a website...

Hey Cat, if you like you can help me do I,J,K. Just start from K upwards?

Have some trouble with an Indy game, gonna take a while anyway...

May I donwload comments that just say "the download link doesn't work" when I've fixed it?
Good point, I was wondering about that. AGA? Should we delete comments just saying download doesn't work?

Sorry for the double post but I get a Editing game failed. when trying to add an image to Gone, My Angel, Gone

Maybe because the author is missing? Not sure. Worked for me one time.

If there's no one credited for the game, or the file size is zero it won't like it.  If you can't work out the person's forums username, you can just copy the 'author' information from further up, and leave the credits blank, like "author: " and it'll work.

The earlier games like Wet often don't have credits, because I think that feature was hacked in after the initial database driven system was created.

Some more intelligent error reporting would probably be a good idea, I'll think about doing that at some point.

For that game it would be Tildy

Type in:
"Tildy: Author"   or "Creator" or "Author of the game" not sure what's more appropriate??? (game creators can edit it later to their liking)
...in the box at the bottom of this entry.

That way Tildy would be able to edit the entry too.

OK, I will cover the I,J,K section.

YES!!! :cheesy: I remember that one!
I used to haunt a local department store's computer section, just to be able to play that game (before knowing anything about computers or owning one).
I remember, I got chased away by the store clerks on a regular base, only to sneak back in after an hour or so!
Never knew what it was called though...

edit: That's so AWESOME!! Still can't believe it! (Sorry for raving - I'm' having kind of a moment here!!)
THIS game is how I got into computers in the first place! (Around later that year I got my C-64) WOW!
IT IS AN ADVENTURE???!!!

It is agreed then, we use the "AGSarchives.com download button link" as download link adress for the AGS game database. (if the particular game is available at AGSarchives.com, that is!)

To everyone that is watching this thread and willing to help out:
You don't actually need admin rights to be able to contribute something. Just choose a few games on the list
(e.g. games beginning with the letter 'E' etc.) and open some kind of document where you copy the screenshot/download link for each game. Either you or us can copy&paste those into the database later on.
(just quickly post what letter you chose, to avoid that two people are doing one letter...eh...sounds kind of kinky.)

selmiak has the # (By the way, I believe you've to hold the mouse button to start "9 minutes! Your late!")
Stupot collected A,B,C (!)
Leon is working from T downwards..
Did L
Come on peeps, any takers?
