To be honest, I'd rather let someone else guess that title. Got a slight hangover from yesterday.

But I quite like it, especially that they took a genre and went the other way with it.

Vanishing Point. Two Lane Blacktop. Thunder Road. American Classics all. 

I'm a sucker when it comes to road movies. Still, 'Vanishing Point' is something else. The plot is so simple, but it's so much
more than the sum of it's parts.
Best of all, the whole film feels as if it isn't 'trying too hard'.
And in this 'not trying very hard'-attitude it succeeds where other movies feel the need to stuff endless tirades of "elaborate symbolic intricacies"
into the viewer, all the while stifling their own 'flow'.
Vanishing Point, on the other hand is, first and foremost, flow. A fecking awesome movie to just sit back and watch. It's almost a sublimation
of a road movie. Meaning comes easy, subtle and seemingly effortless.   /*sorry for rambling...

Yes, I seem to know the movie and who it's father is.

The movie's title sounds similar to some non-medical physical culture invention of the late 70s.
(Sigfried & Roy e.g. seem to have excessively overused that particular gadget! )   

Well, it does look like the love child of "Clockwork Orange" and "Stalker"...

If anyone would've told me a few years ago, that one day I'd be spellbound by a movie about a
guy driving a CAR from A to B (!?), I'd have, quite fankly, laughed in their faces!



 

Now, that's a line of thought that's definitely worth pursuing!

Up to a certain extend very much in spirit of Sugarland E., but lesser known and lesser pretentious! (...and simply better. )

The protagonist has a very common Polish (last) name and, apart from one or two exceptions, is always addressed by this last name.

Getting even closer in terms of timeframe.

Even though it's hilarious , don't get too hung up on the whole horsy business AND
that guy in the pic is NOT the protagonist. (You'd probably know him - too easy ).


edit: ..also, to say that this movie has groove, is an understatement. This movie IS groove,
visually, musically & the feeling it evokes, while watching.
 

A great donkeythrilling movie. But alas, no...

Though, the timeframe of Thunderheart's setting is very, very close to the release date of the movie in question.

Nah, but couple that with "Days of Donkey" (1990) (...you know, the one starring that cheesy grinning, scientopathological sideshow freak )

Nope. Neither kinky donkey porn, nor that truely awesome film by the Coen brothers.
Though both of them share certain similarities in their depiction and use of landscapes.

This movie is one hell of a ride! Watch it if you get the chance.
One exceptional example of a subdued plot achieving greatness in it's wake.
