it looks like a really rushed mix of effects, filters and very anatomically crude drawing.

Well yeah, but I kinda like just cause it adds to the cheesy, cliche, action film sort-of-thing. Which Revan probably wasn't going for...

And he can draw better than me.

It looks cool and action-packed, but the character seems too disconnected from the background. At least to me it does...
I'd also like to see more shadows and contrast.

But it does look great so far!

Are you talking about the Windows X that's on every app?

Dang, meant to post the one CJ did but wasn't thinking... I think I should probably take a break from the forums.....

game.speech_text_gui        The textwindow GUI number used for sierra-style speech.

From the game variables page in the manual.

Ahhh, missed that part. Apparently I was up too late last night....

I can hear the audio, but the movie itself doesn't play.

There's also the Game.DoOnceOnly(string) function, look it up in the manual.

I downloaded your game Dualnames, and the video played fine for me. I'm running Vista and I have a bunch of codecs installed (I think it's the K-Lite Mega Pack), if that helps any.

My bad. It's a natural thing for me, so I'll try to tone it down.... :(

General Discussion / Re: Fair Use Question

If it's for a school tech fair (highschool? uni? college?) then I'd ask an administrator or section head on they're thoughts and whether you've exceeded copyright.

However, if done right, I believe that parody falls into Fair Use. (it's been a while since I learned copyright)

You can also use normal maps to fake detail and smoothness.
Agreed, modeling is half of it. Know how to correctly texture is a skill that is definitely worth your while to learn.

kelticpete, please do not post in threads that are years old.
Also, there is a forum called 'Hints and Tips' for any help you need solving puzzles for games.

The betas always have the warning. I'm guessing that you saved your game with the 3.1beta and tried to open it with 3.0.2

You shouldn't have to use the 3.1.1 beta, try using the 3.1 release (download here).

As for the debug/compiled thing, I'm not understanding what you're trying to say... Like, at all.

wikisend.com is a simple site that I usually use. You can specify it to be available for up to 90 days.

Got a psd file so that we can play composition and such with the layers?

And definite improvement on the Title, before was just hideous to my eyes.

Well, it's saying that you're trying to convert a GUI to GUIControl, so you probably called the wrong type in Description.GUIMode(). I'm DLing right now to check...

[Edit]: Read the documentation in the header. It says
Quote//  Description.GUIMode(GUIControl *gc);
//    Set the module to use the specified GUI Control (button or label) to
//    display text
So you need to put either a label or button on your gDescriptionWin GUI and then use its scriptname, ie.
Description.GUIMode(lblDescriptionWin);

Faceset is probably referring to something similar to Facesets of RPGMaker, so dialogue pictures. But yeah Miori, try to be a bit more descriptive.

I'm guessing it's a probably with GUIs Z-orders, and that the dialogue text window GUI needs a higher Z-order than the lines GUIs.
