More baby-AGSers! I think Zen Twelve is a really cool name.

As a teaser it failed me since seeing Ben just walk around in places is a bit dull but I like the look of it. Good choice of music too. ;)

Still I'm looking forward to it as much as any BJ episode!

Wow, that's so cool. Congratulations!

I think 640x400 is used mostly because adventure game players are used to the widescreen resolution, as it was used in the old classic games. Also, as GG mentioned, it's useful for those players who have widescreen monitors.

I like Kastchey's idea but my vote goes for abstauber because it looks great. Nicely imitated MI style. The idea isn't bad either.

Unless you're deliberately trying to copy FoA's style I think it's perfectly fine as long as the sprite's color depth doesn't clash with the backgrounds. If your background colors are bright then the sprites should be bright too. I can't see anything wrong as it is. Great looking sprites you have there!

RAT is shorter because it was recently cleaned up and restarted. OYS has been on there for a much longer time and probably has a lot of outdated posts. And yes, you are just lazy, 13 pages really isn't that much, especially since most of the posts in OYS are quite brief. You really should just read the newest posts anyway.

There's no point in splitting it into separate threads for each category because as it is the thread isn't used that much. It would just clutter up the forums even more and make it all the more confusing. Note that the 13 pages in the thread have been slowly generated throughout the 5 years that it has been on these forums.

If people posted there more often then this might be useful but it's just not popular enough to benefit from this.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Font Test

Maybe I'm used to wider fonts but I feel it's too squished together. I personally find it difficult to read. It might help if there was a small gap between the letters.

Dude, that's just sick. What kind of a forum do you think this is? >:(

There might be kids reading... Jesus christ, man...

8th - 14th seems suitable.

I just hope I can actually make it. Things are bound to be a bit hectic what with all the moving and stuff.

Well, I was thinking of creating a paw of some sort. And place it behind the planet, but with the paw being quite transparent.

Since the planet already is a footprint of a paw I don't see the point in putting another paw in it. Also, using semi-transparent parts in logos isn't such a sweet idea. I think a good logo should be able to function in pure black&white. This one does, as it is.

I really like this logo. Very clever. :)

I'm glad to see some more laid back and NORMAL rules for a change. Lately there seems to have been a lot of experimenting going on with the MAGS guidelines. And I'm always intrigued by a sci-fi theme. :)

I can't wait to see what people can come up with! Good luck everyone who thinks about participating!

Now some idiot will go and post some game they made in 5 minutes just to claim this 1000th Game -title to themselves.

AGS Games in Production / Re: Abominations

Nice! Another fine looking Sektor 13 game! I hope this one will be proof read before the release. I remember your previous games having a lot of annoying typos and grammar errors which affected the mood considerably. Since this is going to be a horror game it's extremely important to sustain the mood.

Back in the time of NES and such all gaming was considered to be for children so few adults took part in it by themselves. Some genius game developer thought they might find a potential new group of customers in adults. Now, how could gaming be made more appealing to adults so that they don't feel like they're playing a kids' game... Of course! Drugs, sex and violence! \o/

And they saw that it was good. The more violence they put in their games, the more money kept pouring in. It worked, so why change it?

Then they overdid it. And here we are, still buying their games but now complaining about the violence.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that. I'm not much of a gamer myself and I don't really enjoy all this bloodfest that's in so many games nowadays. I was surprised how unentertaining I found GTA4 in the end. I'm not sure if that's got anything to do with the violence but I do believe it's getting a bit old. Like with adventure games, people will eventually get bored of it and there will be a new fad in game development.

Exactly  ;) if i would make a commercial game i would use another name of course. something like, hum...
Maybe CreatIV Games?  ;D

Do not do that.

I don't completely agree with Greg's points. Firstly, I don't see why Jakerpot doesn't sound appealing. It's original so what's the deal? And how do you even define appealing? It's so subjective that you can't possibly please everyone. I don't think such things as "bad/unappealing company names" exist. The important thing is that it's memorable. Jakerpot Games is a name you don't forget in an instant, unlike boring names such as CreatIV Games.

Secondly, by putting the Jakerpot Games logo into your free games you create an identity for yourself as a game developer. If you change the name all of a sudden part of this identity is destroyed, especially if you start using a boring corporate name. Also, people will see through it. They will think "Oh, he changed the name to something 'professional' sounding because he wants people to buy his game. That's so cheap."

And Nameless Enterteinment... Are you sure this is a company? I think most of the people never heard about this team... So why i cant use it?

I never said it was a registered company. In fact, if you read my post again you will see me saying "company" with quotemarks. All I was saying is that it's so overused you might want to reconsider. The fact is that if you tell people about your "Nameless Games" named website for example, they will probably go and google it and face a seemless list of other websites called Nameless something (I got over a million of these). You won't stand out. This is why it's boring.

On the other hand, if you have a more original name (like Jakerpot, which brings up 30 hits in Google for me) chances are that the people will find what they're looking for on the first page instead of having to look for a needle in a needlestack.

I used to have a website called Pabsoft, which didn't get any Google hits before I registered it, which is pretty much why I chose it. Originality is good. And rare. Now my website is called Pabstuff (I wanted it to sound less techy), which also didn't get any hits before registering it. Both names have a certain meaning to me, originating from my nickname. What meaning does "Nameless" have to you? I know you think it's pretty clever but it's not, really.

I'm not saying you should name your fake company Jakerpot but you should use a more original name, one that has some personal meaning to you. Otherwise you'll just feel stupid about it later.

If you've made up your mind already then that's that but do consider this.
