I have a lot of these...

One of my first projects ever, Apollo 27:

This is actually a scrolling background and there is a huge lens flare on the right edge, but it's probably best for all if we keep that hidden.

The next one's also a bit old. I never came up with a name for it. I started making it for the Hotel-themed MAGS. It was supposed to be sort of a The Sims style hotel simulator game.

Now then, some more recent projects...

Hail Pablesus, a game I considered my main project for quite a while. It would have been awesome to finish it but I doubt I can motivate myself to do that.

I started making the next one, Lunar Eclipse, for some MAGS I can't even remember anymore. Some of these are unfinished... And yes, those alphabetical characters are actually the two player characters.

I wanted to make a remake of Buna Wants Beer at some point. I haven't actually given up on this project yet, I'm just not gonna do it in this style after all.

Prisoners of the Storm was a game based on a bigger story I've been planning for a long time. I decided not to make it a classic adventure game though. I might continue on it at some point as an interactive novel type of thing.

When did everyone get so bitchy about this? Before long it'll be a Hate Crime to criticise somebody on the basis of whether they drink alcohol...

I don't think anyone was being bitchy. I know I wasn't. I think this is all a matter of everyone misinterpreting everyone as hostile because they bring this topic up. :P Nobody was deliberately trying to sound hostile or bitchy or in any way negative about the subject. Although I admit this is probably not the best place to discuss this and I shouldn't even post about it anymore, but whatever.

Again, peace and flowers.

Everybody is welcome, no matter if you drink or not.

Look, it's not about that. Some people (me) sometimes feel uncomfortable being the only sober guy in the group, and it's not a wonder this worries the people who don't drink. People aren't really worried about Mittens being a huge "rave party", as you put it. They just want to make sure they don't feel singled out.

I've been to two AGS meetings and both of them had times when I was feeling uncomfortable. It's not because people didn't welcome me to the group. Hell, there has always been someone looking out for me, making sure I'm not feeling left out, which was just amazing. It doesn't help though. If you don't drink and everyone around you does, you WILL feel singled out (no matter how much the drinkers want to avoid this) and it's comforting to know you're not alone.

I don't mean to turn this into a bloody debate on the rights and wrongs of Mittens and definitely don't mean to imply that people shouldn't drink at Mittens. I of course agree that everyone is allowed to spend their time however the hell they want. Just wanted to point out that the non-drinker people don't want to stop Mittens from turning into a week long drinking contest. They just want the comfort of knowing that if it does, they'll still have somebody to hang out with.

Peace, love and flowers and all that other gay stuff! :-*

so other than Progzmax, are there any other people coming who will just want to have fun without drinking?

Yep. I belong in the non-drinker group also. I'm glad to see I'm not alone, although I'm not that bothered by other people drinking anymore.

I absolutely adore it! Very soothing. Very awesome. :)

Search the forums for "banner games". You'll find quite a few similiar threads where this question has been answered.

If I die in the room of wine bottles and select Load from the given options, I get a message saying "Not now" and then I'm just stuck.

Apart from some errors, this game seems pretty fun. And I like how smoothly the interface works. :)

I'll update my module to work with the newest AGS version someday this week.

I can name a lot of games with good graphics.

I think you'd like Nelly Cootalot.

LimpingFish's games also have great pre-rendered graphics.
Heartland
Unbound

A Tale of Two Kingdoms looks beautiful.

Sektor 13 made some really good graphics too.
Infinity String
Stargate Adventure

This is only a demo but Gesundheit! looks really cute with an original art style.

Bernie's graphics are pure eye candy.
Reactor 09
Cedric and the Revolution

Both of the Apprentice games are worth a look.
Apprentice
Apprentice II

And of course all the King's Quest remakes.
King's Quest I VGA
King's Quest II+ VGA
King's Quest III

And last but not least this game is perhaps the best looking one I've ever played.

I'm not sure if most of these fit your description, since apparently you don't like low-res. But do give them a try.

You can't edit the default save and load GUIs of AGS. They are built in. As are any other interfaces that don't show up in the GUI list. You could take a look at the Simple Save/Load GUI that I made. It's pretty much identical to the default save and load GUIs with an added deleting feature. I'm not sure if it works with AGS 3.x but you could try. Been used it games such as Ben Jordan and Unbound.

It's been a while since I seriously used AGS so I'm not sure how to answer your other questions.
#253
Perhaps you missed this rather valid point that Eggie made...

#254
Because people don't judge games by graphics.

Anyway, this is pointless because you just will not get the point. The answer is somewhere in the big amount of replies you've gotten so far. Keep reading them, you should find enlightment sooner or later.
#255
All you can do about that is give the games attention yourself. Really, that's it. You can't change the world by complaining about it not changing.

People like different things. Also, people like to encourage other people if their games don't seem amazingly professional. You shouldn't complain about that.

No.

Game authors who've done a release in 320x20 get more respect on the AGS forums, in general.

Let's say this is the case. So what? How does this affect your life? Why do you care? What are your motives? You clearly don't like how this community works so why are you still here? To me it just seems a bit hypocritical...

What you're talking about has nothing to do with the website. You're talking about the games, and you can't affect on how people want to make their games. Some people like progress, some don't. Whatever it is, it doesn't have an impact on the website! Things will be the same around here whether or not people make hi-res games. As I said, this is just a place to share work.

Yes, everybody like old Sierra quest, even me! Few hours ago I post in "Best adventure game of all times"! Check my favorite games there! But these games are in the past!

Yes, unfortunately they are. And that is exactly why things like AGS exist. I think I speak for most of the people around here when I say we liked the past and we want to bring back if only the nostalgic retro feeling of those games. This is why your arguments about making this all modern are a bit useless.

It helps.

You're absolutely right. It's good to hear someone tell their opinions on how we could turn the whole AGS scene into a more professional corporate machine that eats babies. It does help. Makes us appreciate our current situation more.

I still think that we need to stimulate more the modern tehniques. Now we say - "There are not good enough hi res games". And thats all. But if this website have a future, it is in the more modern games.

Who the heck do you mean by "we"? We're not all just one big lump that collaborate with each other. We're all individuals here and do whatever the hell we please. You should realise that whatever you say will not affect any part of this community in anyway, not after all the silly comments you've posted.

This website is just a place where people share the things they make with each other. It's not a corporation. Nothing, NOTHING, is gonna change if everyone suddenly started making high-resolution games. Just because all these AGS games have been posted in the same place it doesn't mean that they affect each other and the website as a whole.

Quote from: Stan on Fri 17/10/2008 09:19:41
Think about what will happend with this website if after years the game authors are the same as now and produce the same low res games.

This has always been what AGS is about. Always. Sure, people have started making more commercial quality games that fit today's standards recently, but still the retro spirit is around. It's worked for this place for many many years and it's still working. The website and the community isn't gonna be destroyed if we stop making the kind of games most people here like. That'd be just illogical.

As ProgZmax said, you can't come to a community and expect the people there to change their habits to suit you more just because you want.
