So glad to see this is still happening! The new art looks great!

Creepy and very lovely! It took me a while to realize what was going on but after some time of just walking around talking to people I realized what I had to do and the solutions started coming naturally to me. I like this kind of flow in game design. You're not forcing anything on the player, apart from teaching them the game controls in the beginning, so they're left with a sense of freedom. Well done!

I noticed the offer on your website yesterday and immediately bought it. I'm playing it now and so far I'm enjoying the story!

EDIT: Well, I just finished the game and I gotta say, the story just kept getting better! Well worth playing!

Lazy & Sleepy and Projectoholic present:
Educating Adventures of Girl and Rabbit

DOWNLOAD HERE!

A girl meets a rabbit called Bunny in a forest. He kindly teaches her all sorts of interesting and important things. What does she learn from it all? Who does she become? It remains to be seen.

Girl & Rabbit is the winner of BEST GAME and BEST CONCEPT/WRITING in the OROW8 competition. It was created in approximately 4 days for the competition and lots of love and frustration went into making it.

Now, meet the team behind the game!

Well, here are some opinions. I'm not a big review writer so they're pretty short and basic.

Betrayal - I really enjoyed this game purely for the design concept. I didn't really get too much into the story of it but the way the room transition was designed was lovely and it felt overall very immersing. Well done!

Draconis! - Very impressive programming! I was pretty shit at this game though so I didn't get past the first level. :D

Educating Adventures of Girl and Rabbit - A couple of things. I want to mention the sound effects and the music, which were all made from scratch by qptain Nemo. The slapping sound you hear often in the game was produced by Nemo actually slapping his own face multiple times before getting a decent sample. I salute him for his commitment. The music was also produced under a strict deadline so he did a great job within those limitations!

Fly Paper - This one cracked me up and I actually laughed out loud. :D

Jack Trekker - Out of all these games, this one definitely has the best main character! Really funny dialog, great graphics and that intro video was just golden! Definitely among my favourite OROW games, all time.

Kanji Gakusei - Great to see we weren't the only ones making educational games for this contest! The graphics were cute, the puzzles were just right. I don't have much to say except overall a good little game. :)

MI - The voice acting and art was very good and I hope you continue this into a longer full length game. I'm intrigued by the background story.

One Dungeon One Week - Really really impressive stuff. I can't fathom how you pulled this off in one week! Combined with a good storyline this would make for a really entertaining experience.

Sinking - Now, I didn't play this much, apart from trying it out pretty quickly. I don't know what it was that put me off, maybe the whole feeling of being thrown into this hectic platformer environment all of a sudden. It looks very good and the controls felt alright. It seemed pretty solid but I can't say much because I didn't play through it.

Tattooroom - This one also made me laugh and it's among the prettiest OROW games ever.

The Addict - This one I didn't play much either because I was put off by the odd dialog and the simple fact that I didn't really know what was going on. I didn't mind the simple art though since I'm usually a sucker for simplistic art styles, as long as it's consistent and the gameplay is good.

The butler didn't do it - Hilarious music. :D Great characters and dialog too. The art style was effective and I can see quite a bit of effort has gone into it. I didn't finish it yet but I might get back to it.

The Crystal Ball - Brilliantly written game and good looking too! I played this through a couple of times and would love to see it expanded into a more diversely branching dialog puzzle.

The Reaper - Looks amazing. You outdid yourself with the art. I didn't particularly like the puzzles in this one but everything else was ace!

The Rebirth - Another fantastic main character! Really interesting and I found the whole concept immersing. Well written and the puzzles were clever and inventive.

Well, this made my day! Working with qptain Nemo on this game was tons of fun. So much fun in fact that we finished the game in just under 4 days. I did have quite a strict personal deadline going on. Thanks to everyone who voted!

I'm not at home right now but when I am I will write some of my opinions on the games. One thing I will say though is that I enjoyed most of them thoroughly and was very impressed by a few! Amazing job everyone!

Love the games, but I can't get OWOD, MI och Tattooroom working on my laptop, because of the resolution. Anyway to work around this?

Try changing the Graphics filter in winsetup.exe to a supported resolution or turning it off completely.

I second the idea about selecting the top two/three games in each category. It's a good compromise.

I think having the possibility to give each game a 5 point rating in each category is overcomplicating it. People often use those systems stupidly and give 5 points to games they like and 1 point to the rest (exaggaration, I know, but you get the point). We just want to figure out which game is the best in each category. So having people select their favourite for each category is enough. Simple and efficient and it will attract a lot more voters! I see absolutely no need for an additional scoring system. In the spirit of OROW, keep it simple! :)

I'll definitely post my opinions on each game later. So far I'm thoroughly enjoying most of them. :) Great job you crazy creative people!

EDIT: Peder's voting page seems perfect!

You're my hero. That was cool!

I was voting for this game in the game database and got this error message. I suppose my vote was still recorded because I am unable to vote again but my heartfelt and long comment was lost forever. :(

QuoteThank you, your votes have been recorded!
Couldn't connect to database: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 't put a ";-)" smiley face in dialogue, it just looks silly and breaks the immers' at line 1

Maybe has something to do with the semicolon? I'd imagine there's parsing for the quotation mark, right?

Oh what a lovely game. I also had not noticed this before and it was a very pleasant short adventure. :)

I'm afraid of jumping from heights and thought this might help to overcome this fear

That's a very healthy fear to have. Please don't overcome it.

I would love to try bungee jumping at some point and will when I get the chance. I'm kinda afraid of heights but I still think it'd be cool as hell.

General Discussion / Re: Gameboy Advance

Well this brings me back. :) Me and my friend both bought the original GBA pretty much at the same time and we both went nuts over it. I think I was 11 or 12. My first game was Rayman Advance which was a very fun game. My friend got Warioland 4 which was also pretty great but unfortunately I didn't get to play it much.

Golden Sun seems to be a popular mind blower and for me it was also the greatest GBA experience ever. Oh the neck pain I suffered from playing it for hours. One of the rare games I actually had the patience to finish. Oh and then there was Advance Wars which we played at school on breaks like the geeks we were. There were also a bunch of other games I don't quite remember anymore.

GBA was one of the most exciting consoles ever for me, along with the first PlayStation and a Famicom Clone I had when I was little. Definitely the only mobile console I ever really cared about.

Wow. One of my beliefs systems exploded too. That was sensational.

Yeah, there was some idiocy I'm embarassed about. But I was just 14 years old when I started using AGS in 2004 and at the age of 15-16 I became an active community member. So I'm gonna pin all the blame on puberty. I think overall I behaved ok but I wasn't quite used to interacting with people through an internet forum so I think there were some awkward moments. I think the most embarassing thing for me now is remembering how I whined about people not letting me attend Mittens at the age of 15. That was dumb of me.

Lovely tune and all the other songs you have on that page are excellent also! I listened to a bunch of them and I really like what I'm hearing.

A rather weird but captivating story. Immersive altogether. :) I enjoyed it.

I can relate. There have been moments when I wanted to give up. There was a time I was sitting, drunk, on the edge of a window in my 3rd floor apartment thinking "This fall might not even kill me but what the hell." but my basic survival instinct was still in tact so I pushed myself back inside. Didn't drink for a few days after that.

A couple of years of my life I suffered from quite bad depression and in retrospect I don't think there is a way down. It's either gonna get better or it's not but it probably won't get much worse. I find that comforting.

My advice: Move. Yes, you CAN run away from your problems despite what anyone might tell you. I moved to another country and my life got better. You can pretty much redefine your entire life. You might be surprised how many new people you'll meet on your way. And if you get depressed again, move again! Or develop a drinking habit like I did. Don't do drugs though because they're much less practical.

If you feel like you're at the end of your road, sure you can kill yourself. But that's a far more boring way to handle things than making an exciting new change like moving somewhere else or starting a new hobby that you never ever thought you would. You'd probably be far less excited about anything in the afterlife because it's supposedly eternal and is bound to get way more repetitive than anything you do in this life.

Then again, I don't know how trustworthy this advice is, coming from a depressed self destructive easily addicted runaway. Take it or leave it, I don't really care, just don't kill yourself because then you'd be the dead guy nobody wants to hang out with anymore because he's fucking dead.
