Hey, could you please mirror it somewhere else, since downloading it from that site is AWFULLY slow for me. I don't want to wait 2 hours to get a 700 kb file. :P

General Discussion / Re: Who ever made Roger?

I think it's a wonderful sprite and it's a great reference for people who want to practice animating. But still what EagerMind says is quite true. Some people are already using Roger in their games as the player character, which is bad enough.

With these sprites in the default game, and if you also replace the GUI graphics, we would rarely see new sprites again since new people want to use the default template for everything.

I repeat myself, no Roger replacing! :)

I completely disagree with dkh and Buckethead! No new sprite could EVER replace Roger. AGS just wouldn't be the same anymore. :(

It's probably just my opinion, but I think adding a slight amount of contrast would make it perfect. You are good. :)

September, eh? So soon, yay. \o/

It looks better than the first game, but that's of course understandable since you're not working in a deadline this time. I enjoyed Family Treasure quite a bit and am interested in trying this out when you release it. Good luck!

If you mean how you test the game you are making in the AGS Editor, press Ctrl+T or go to File -> Test game.

As for the real sequel *hush* *hush*

Yeah right. Like you'd really finish that sequel...

Some people just don't seem to have any sense of humour. ¬¬

30 minutes is nothing. Listen to the He-Man theme song for 8 hours (it has happened more than once) and come talk to me again.

Sorry I'm late, I forgot about this. Time to announce the winner then. After a half minute long consideration I've come to my decision.

OBI WINS!!

...*cough*

1st place: Inkoddi
-I think it describes the beginning and the end of evolution really well. In a funny way.
-I'm a fool for textless comics. :)
-The drawing style in all it's simplicity is very cute and works well.

2nd place: Krysis
-Quite original idea and I like how you've managed to turn it into a comic by using no dialog. :)
-It took me some time until I got the idea of the comic but when I did I found it really funny.
-I also love the way it is drawn and colored using mainly black and white but also a couple of real colors too.

3rd place: Haddas
-The joke made me smile. :D I like it how it ends just in the middle of the required word. The main idea of this is quite simple yet not too predictable. Well done!

Thanks to both Lipaoklipa and Revan for joining! :) Now Inkoddi, go start the new compo!

I don't want to belong, I just want to wear what feels good on me.

Those chains you wear just can't feel good...

Pablo: You lot tried to persuade a church? To do what? Hold a meeting for AGSers?

What? Er, apparently you didn't read the Lapaset threads. We got into this magazine during the AGS meeting when we were just passing by a church.

In my opinion it would be just okay to host the competition here in AGS forums. You could just start a new thread in the General Discussion (or Adventure Chat, I'm not sure which one would suit this better) and see if people get interested enough to enter. Since unofficial competitions have been held here before I would think it's not a problem if you start this one.

Guess I will have to commit a crime to be able to be seen on a newspaper or mag.

No, you just need to attend an AGS meeting.

But Kirota, that's just a piece of an example code. You really DO need to understand it if you want it to work the way you want. And if you don't know how it works, you'd just need to get someone else to script it for you. That's just how it goes.

I myself never really played much of those games that didn't have any graphics at all, but I really used to enjoy Sierra's text parser games. It was, like many have already said, because of the freedom it provided.

But I do like a graphical GUI just as much. Also I would enjoy a completely text based game too, if it was written well and had a good story. So...

Bottom line - IF or graphic, who cares? Just give me a good game!

Amen...

AGS Games in Production / Re: Tapir's Quest
Thu 03/08/2006 11:28:49
Oh my god! This game looks SO AWESOME!! :D

I'm serious here, those graphics are WAY better than "decent" as you say! That style is so very sweet!

Also I really dig the whole concept, although the Escape-from-locked-room -idea is quite much used. But still, the tapir is so cute and original game character, it doesn't really matter.

Great to see it's almost done. I want to play this very much. :) Good luck!
