I just wanted to say that I really prefer version 2 to version 3. There is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Apart from a few outlines being a bit too thick.

EDIT: Also to me the front view looks like his mouth is wide open.

I watched it a bit and yes, it has some serious spoilers. So if you haven't played the game I advice you not to watch this.

The state of General Discussion has been discussed many times before... and in my humble opinion there is really nothing that would not fit in this forum section. So I see no reason why Rosella could not advertise the new King's Quest here.

Scummbuddy, I think you got it wrong. I don't think it's xenogia's site. Correct me if I'm wrong, xenogia ._.

Anyway, I've known about this site for a long time. Yes, I love it. But since it's illegal it's not very appropriate to talk about it here. That's what the rules state. :)

Hobbes, don't give anything away yet. I'm still having my hopes on you! Maybe you will change your mind later. Buccaneer 2 was one of the most awaited games in my list! I beg you, keep the files to yourself just in case you'll change your mind on this. You really are the only one who is able to make Buccaneer 2. :(

Wow, monkey_05_06. Before this I had never really understood what pointers are or what you can use them for! Thank you very much for sharing this tutorial-kind-of-thing! It really helped me. :)

I made a quick and rough paintover for the side view to maybe give you some ideas:



Basically I adjusted the colors a bit so now it doesn't look so bright. Also I corrected the pose of his arms. Then I adjusted the pose of his feet a bit.

I like your character a lot but it needs some correcting with his pose and colors. :)

Okay, I tried this one. I haven't read all the replies in this thread but here are some of my own opinions:

-Next time you make a game, make your own GUI graphics. AND don't use the Roger character. Actually don't use any graphics from the AGS Default template. Make everything yourself. It doesn't matter how bad the graphics are, people prefer self-made graphics MUCH over ripped ones.

-About the humor of this game. I really truly liked some jokes. You're on a good start here pal, and I really hope you will stick with AGS and make some serious comedy games. :D

-You need to do much more testing with your game before releasing it. This game had some serious bugs in the score adding, like Lord Nipper showed in his first post.

-Use more time in designing the puzzles and story. Because these are the most important things in adventure games and if your game lacks good story, people won't like it. Yes, story is much more important than graphics.

-Also spend more time on your background art. Don't just wipe up some green and blue bg's in Paint. Use hours to practice drawing them. And when you feel like you've done all you could, post your backgrounds here on Critics Lounge and we'll give you advices on how to make them even better. :)

Last but not least, don't put this game into the games page of AGS website. People should never put their first practice games there. But if you really want to, put it in the joke games section. I don't mean to offend your game in any way, but it's the only place (if any) for the first practice games...

Anyway, you're really on a good start here. Please, don't get offended by some hard critics. You just need to learn from them and I really wish you'll continue making games.

I disagree with you Elliott. Companies have shown very little interest in freeware games (especially these AGS ones) that are using their music in midi format this far. So I think Cruz can safely use those midis if they want to. Also, midi can be hard to make if you know nothing about making music.

Word of advice to you Cruz: You should start this kind of threads in General Discussion, since this sub-forum is only for AGS technical questions. Thank you and welcome to forums. :)
