Yeah, as an Ontario native I would be remiss if I didn't at least try to make it this time.  Barring being shipped out to Alberta and forced to work for the entire summer, I should be there.  And even then, if it's held in later August I could probably get away in time even if I were.

There is no "black magic" or "white magic".  There is Divine Magic and Arcane Magic.  Divine magic is what clerics and priests use, it is power from God, whatever they call him and whatever god they happen to worship (The native Manitou grants spells too), channeled through the chosen faithful to enact miracles.  Healing, protection, creation of food.  Even divine fire to smite those who would threaten the cleric or his flock.  A particularily devout cleric can even summon the hosts of Heaven to his aid.  Angels and Archons and the like, or communicate with the dead spirits or even God himself.

The other sort of magic, Arcane magic, is more natural in origin.  It is enacted by gently shifting the patterns, or "weave", of the world to allow things that would not normally be possible to happen.  It takes a great deal of study and ritualization and physical sacrifice, though making pacts with various outer powers can reduce these costs.  The energy is channeled not from a divine higher power, but rather from the inner elemental planes from which all creation is forged.  These planes of pure energy and elements require great control and force of will to manage, but no sort of spiritual devotion or code of holy conduct must be followed.

I do indeed live in Ontario.  Ottawa, to be precise.  Canada's jovial capital, home of Jazz festivals, tulip festivals and a swell Canada day fireworks show.  Not to mention lots of politicians and forign embassies in case you get stranded.  There are plenty of lakes around you can rent cabins on, it's not terribly far from Toronto or Montreal.  I'd offer to host now, but I'm not sure if I'll be shipped out to Alberta for the summer or not yet.  If not, I would.

Games Workshop is evil to the core.  The minis cost an arm and a leg, espically if you want to build a decent army.  They keep rolling out new models and unit types so you keep having to buy new ones to tweak your army.  You have to paint them with official GW paints and GW brushes etc all of which is also quite pricey, otherwise they are not legal four tourny play.

Furthermore, they keep "updating" the rules and setting info, so you have to buy their books over and over.  What are they on now, ninth?   Sure, the settings are cool, they're what Warcraft/Starcraft are based on, but dude.

As for the game itself, not too bad.  It's much like battletech or any other mini combat game.  Plastic tape measures and lots of dice.  Crazy terrain, stat juggling, tokens, counters and arguing over rules.

Sure, I like metal.  Espically the Alkali Earth metals.  Sodium, Lithium and so on.  Though, of course, Francium is the most excellent one of all.  I think most of the precious metals are a little too pretentious for my taste, but copper is always a good standby.  I only like pure metals, though, no alloys.

Better drawn than megatokyo and it actually has a plot.

No, there isn't.  And even mostly pure gold is too soft to be useful for jewlery, but I was speaking of stuff that isn't even 50% pure, stuff that might even be only gold plated.

Also, ATOMIC MONSTERS!

Pete was right, it happens due to an allergic reaction some people have to copper.  The cheap alloys thing is to do with how some "gold" jewlery is cut with other metals, such as copper, and will leave people with a grean stain and ripped-off feeling.
