Well Za_Uvek, you are welcome to make a remake of those games ;D
Nobody dares to touch the monkey islands, because firstly they are tabu (the remake need to be nearly perfect or it will be said "you ruined it you bastard") ;) and secondly they already have beautiful vga graphics, so why remake?

Hey!! Its an idea!! I know thoughs games are average and thats why someone should remake em. Unlike Monkey Island, you could bend the game to your will and no one would care. Thats why they would be great to ramp up.  ;)

As for Monkey Isl, I would not agree with "beautiful" VGA graphics, I always thought they could have looked better, even for VGA. But yeah I see where your coming from when its tabu, Monley Isl is a bit too great for anyone to even make a single stuff up. Thats like IA doing SQ2, I cant wait but if they stuff it grrrrrrrrrrr  >:( . (Only cause SQ2 was like the first adventure game I ever played).

I do have another idea though. I think the book "Assassins Apprentice"  :o from the Farseer Trilogy would make a great adven game. Theres not exactly enough action to make it with a modern day engine, and there are plenty of ways you can incorporate the story into a adven game.

I love all the remakes that are coming out these days of all the lucas and sierra games, Kings quest, police quest, QFG, Manic Mans! How about some of the one not as popular, like Codename: iceman or conquest for camalot. But i think one of the best would be manhunter all VGA'd up.
OOOOOOOoooooooo, and someone should give the old monkey islands a crack, do up 1 and 2. That would be sick mate! hehe.

Agreed, I must have verbcoin mixed up with something else and it has no impact on the puzzles.
However, I will always see the Sierra interface as challenging and logical. Frustrating, no, really hard for some, yes!

I do have to say that all the points brought up are good. But, they are all opinionated! You can go ahead and say the Sierra and Lucas system make broken games, but only if the creators swing them the wrong way.
If you don’t like them, fine, but I think they are the most successful interfaces ever made (not so much Lucas). If applied correctly the Sierra interface can form some of the most clever, challenging and logical puzzles to be found. The verbcoin, bah, leaves no challenge and can be tedious most of the times. That’s my little opinion and nostalgic view on favourites (and yeah, not much of an argument, I have more, but its not why I write).
The real issue (and its painful playing most of these games) is plain and simple. NONE HAVE BEEN UTILISED PROPERLY. Every game I come across using most any interface has never filled in all the gaps.

If the set of things that I need to use "Talk to" on is completely separate from the things that I need to use "Use" on, and trying to use the other verb just results in a useless "I can't do that" comment, your game is broken.  There's no puzzle in it.  No thinking required.  Person equals talk, thing equals use.  That's it.  It doesn't make me feel more "in control" of my character.  If anything, I feel less in control, since my character systematically refuses all my commands that don't fall in line with the above diagram.

And this is why I say these are good points that have been brought up. I don’t agree that the interfaces are flawed. I believe that they have not been master by any amatures out there yet. Ya! The games are broken! But please, someone out there prove that the Sierra and Lucas systems can be used to make a great amature adventure game!

These are the remarks I left for SQ4.5:

I am an old space quest fan from way back, from what I can remember; SQ2 was my first adventure game. And I have to say SQ 4.5 has done ok as an armature fan game. The story leads as expected from SQ4 and drives all the way to the start of SQ5. Cutting it short Roger trys to find hes way back home to Xenon and find himself a student of the Starcon academy.
As the plot does deliver a good idea it isnt executed very well. The story itself seems dry and the dialogue very basic and tedious at times. As the idea of Roger finding his way home is good, how it is strung together doesnt give the series justice. All the events dont make much sense and a bit more random then even the original series are made out to be. The dialogue is very very very basic and almost humourless through the whole game (even with the odd references to other adventure games tossed in).
The big argument ive heard for graphics sake is about ripping through the whole game. I have to say it is a bit disappointing and takes away your imagination to see the same backgrounds from so many other sierra games. But then if you have a good imagination then this should not be a problem for some. The backgrounds are still very nice and do work well with the story. The animation through the whole game is poor, not many actions are maintained like picking up objects, activation of a switch, etc.
The music is ok, good classic music to fill a sierra games and some original (maybe), but hardly any sound effects at all, again taking away the imagination of the game.
The game itself has bugs riddled through, a crash here and there, Roger walk over the top of back grounds when he shouldn’t as you’ll find out. But most of all the puzzles though they make sense are very basic and don’t add much of a challenge to the game itself.
Overall the game itself seems much unfinished even for armature work, but if you are a SQ fan please give it a go and see what you think. It still gives some refreshment to be back in the world of Roger Wilco once again.
