General Discussion / Gamezebo and AGS
Fri 15/09/2006 02:26:37
Hey everyone, I used to hang out here a lot in the day. I've been making games for a while and wanted to let you know that I've tried to pump AGS up at Gamezebo, a popular online game magazine. http://www.gamezebo.com/2006/09/interview_with_amanda_fitch_am.html

looks good! I would use more contrast between the newspaper and the red text. they compete with each other. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

the trees in the front are awesome! how did you get that nice grainy look?

Very nice Andail! I would like to see what you can do with the first one at a higher resolution.

Thanks guys! Scotch, I wanted to do that, but unfortunately, my computer melted down last fall and everything on my computer was lost -- including my ags files :( Luckily this seems to be an isolated incident.

I was using the first version for Windows. I can't remember the exact version, but I  think it was before 2.52

Hey guys, what's up?

I've got a problem that I hope you can help me with. Someone sent me an e-mail and told me they were getting this error when they tried to start gaea fallen: 'roomstruct: allocall: out of memory'

I searched the old forums for a solution and found two. They require the user to open winsetup.exe, and the one for my game isn't opening (get an 'Error launghing ACWIN to run setup' message). Does the the winsetup.exe file point to the acsetup.cfg file? If so, do you know how I can  work around the following problem without opening the winsetup.exe file:

----------------------------------------------------------
Ionas:
Error: roomstruct::allocall: out of memory
Does anyone know what this could mean?

I tried uploading my Fatman.exe demo to chrille and when he runs it, it gives him this error msg. I have no idea what could be causing this, because m0ds and others have had no problems on thier computers.
--------------------------------------------------------
Chris:
Anyone with this error, try running Setup and selecting the WaveOut digital sound driver, see if that stops the crashes. If it does, try going back to Default Directsound and see if it works then.

Thanks much!
Amanda

I used to think I was shy, but later came to realize that most of the conversations floating around me were uninteresting. It's hard to say interesting things about uninteresting subjects. In these situations, I usually float off into daydream land.

Once in a while I meet fascinating people who get the wheels in my mind turning. Around these types of people, I can talk and talk and talk.

Maybe you're hanging out with your wrong type of people?

RPG guy, have you even downloaded and played the new version of the game? If not, I suggest you do before you criticize it.

It's great that you are creating a 250 mb game, but you may want to consider the end-user. Lots of people are still using dial-up and may not download your game because of the sheer size.

And as others have mentioned, you should probably release something before trying to set a standard. Not to be sour or anything, but there are tons of people here who start games and never finish them. If you are only 10% done, who can be sure if you will ever finish?

I think you've done an excellent job on this game. The intro that takes you through the land, up to the tower was great.  B.t.w., how long did it take you to do that??

The city scape is my fav and your female character looks very nice. The detail of her face (straight on) is great. Hurry up man!
