I've seen all of those movies suggested, and they hold no handle to the following director and movie.

ALEXANDER JODOROWFSKY'S

THE HOLY MOUNTAIN

He makes David Lynch's films seem like teenage comedies. Trust me, you've seen nothing like it. Watch the trailer. It'll convince you.

Never understood what the monkey means.
Excellent piece of cinematography, but you need to be in the right mood.

Shamefully i quite liked A Serbian Film, not for the content but the artsy camera work and the terribly uncomfortable atmosphere. I won't watch it again in a hurry.

Funny you mention this one, as I found it completly unatmospheric and boring. Rubber doll at the end made me laugh and I don't think that was its intention. Just another medicore shocker.

You should try other Grim's game, Downfall. If you don't have it - go and buy! I can assure you, you won't regret.
EDIT. All right, bought it yesterday. Can't wait for Halloween : )

If you want something messed up - try Salo or 120 days of Sodom loosely based on Marquis de Sade's novel.
If you want interesting take on horror and mythology - try first two Hellraiser movies.
If you want hard gore, try: Guinea Pig series (espetially one with a mermaid - that's the third one if memory serves), Cannibal Ferox or Cannibal Holocaust.
If you want something classic - you can try Freaks.

Spoiler
Misery was an easy one for me with Misery being my favourite King's novel : ) Some people can get stuck ther as it requires knowledge from outside of the game, but I liked that puzzle and whole Joe's return part even if it - as the Misery puzzle - requires a little outside knowledge to be fully enjoyed.

Let us know when the preorder is on - and meanwhile I'll go and get my card ready : )

Congratulations. Can't wait.

Maybe it's going to be the long awaited sequel to Limbo of the Lost?

I can even ignore the spelling mistake on account of how much emotion I get from this piece.

I can't believe it's a mere spelling mistake - there must be some hidden symbolism in this short message. Disire â€" desire â€" deus irae (angry god) â€" dies irae (day of anger); so many possible clues for interpretation.
We can’t ignore Eric’s interpretation â€" sure, impressionistic painting can’t be taken too literally, but somewhere in this picture I can see a burning city under red, apocalyptic sky. Is it a day of God’s anger? Or one’s desire can set the world on fire it it’s strong enough?
It’s one of most provoking pieces I’ve ever seen.

I can see new Rabo Karabekian here!

Very enjoyable game indeed. Some some minor complains and thoughts : )
Spoiler

- Isn't penanggalan (flying female head with intrails) an asian monster? I was pretty surprised to see her in eastern Europe.
- Why does 1920s townfolks speak better English than many people here in Poland today? : )
- Why does 1920s gentleman speaks so modern English? : )
- I really hoped for some more backstory behind Percy's longevity; his promise to Arthur was just a little... unfulfilling.

Overall - thank you Grundislav for this great adventure! Shame Ben left paranormal investigating.
Signing off to look for the secret ending : )

General Discussion / Re: The scariest monster
Wed 08/08/2012 09:53:02
When we see a human, we know what to expect. All the people share similar facial features, body shape, way of speaking and walking. When some of those features are removed or alerted - we fear the unknown. When changes are overdone â€" the creature becomes laughable. When there’s just little something like lack of facial features (Pan’s Labirynth monster, chatter cenobite), unnatural eyes colour (Grudge ghosts, 30 days of night vampires) or unusual behaviour (Orlock, Pan’s Labirynth monster â€" just look how they walk).
This might come from primal fear of the ill and disfigured; in animals world sick, disfigured or insane ones are feared and isolated.

You can find some explanation in the novel (Hellbound Heart) and first two movies where they explain their motives (“We are explorers of the further regions of experience”, etc.) and see creation of a cenobite (their tools and outfits come from their dimension: endless, techno-organic labyrinth). They aren’t really villains either â€" Frank and Chennard are the villains there (only in the later movies they are turned into villains to bring more focus to them).
Maybe they aren’t really scary, but at least interesting. Showing the monster and keeping it scary is nearly impossible.

Cenobites.

Great mixture of grotesque, symmetry and body mutilation.

My mistake. I knew this kind of people as "brilliant idiots".

Not as much a servant as an excellent prognostic tool in my opinion.

For me she was more like an autistic genius than unhuman; just living computer.
