Here's a nice (and successful) Swedish project on Indiegogo:

Might be worth a try. Sure can count on my pledge :)

I've always wanted to play this. I heard it's "the best worst game of 2013" :)
Not really... it's a great game with numerous flaws, if this makes any sense. It's not The Room kind of bad, the bad is not what you enjoy in Deadly Premonition - but if you can look past the bad, you'll find interesting world, great story and lovable characters.

Deadly Premonition coming to PC was the best thing in 2013 :)
Things that help to make the game more stable:
- Disable multiple cores,
- Set the game in Win98 compatibility mode (don't do it if you use dpfix, the game will lag)
- If you run non-Steam version (GOG or GamersGate) be sure to apply the latest patch.
- 'Run as Administrator'
Using those tricks I was able to 100% the game with only three (location-specific, I believe) crashes.

You know, you can always scan the thing and add it as bonus material for Steam and GOG buyers (not sure if Desu supports such thing as bonus material). I'd certainly love to see this :)

The game's Golden Ending (I didn't even know that that's what it's called) is now common knowledge to most Cat Lady fans. Back when I did it, I remember considering giving out a special prize to the first person who managed to get it (a notebook that contains sketches, doodles, scribbles, to-dos and dialog WIPs from the game; since I never went with that idea it's still resting on a pile of junk on top of my fridge;) ) )
I'm afraid I would've broken this competition - had that ending before the game even came out (due to pre-order 'week ahead of everybody' promo) and - as mentioned earlier in this topic - wasn't even aware it's something special :)

All right - I was able to move from one man's picture put through some photoshop filters to another man's picture put through similar procedure (looks like I can't go back). I don't know who am I, why am I there, why a random fella asks me for a sample of my blood (which, somehow, reminds me of Drugs and Aliens) and, most importantly - what's my goal for that part.

This game needs:
- Introduction,
- Plot,
- Understandable dialog (I'm not a native speaker and I can point at least one mistake in every sentence),
- Different interface so I know where to click (the art looks like very quick - and mostly failed - try on being artistic and leaves me clueless). I think BASS interface would work here - you only use 'talk' and 'hand' icon.
- Serious bugfixing, if I'm supposed to go to any other location (currently all I can do a one-time change from one screen to another).

Excellent! Well done!

Along with "unknown", horror game may benefit from "unexpected", a broken faith.
(...)
Make player doubt in his senses. Make him feel a confusion, uncertainty about what's going on. Play with his expectations, make him wonder if the "signs" he witness are warning him of something dangerous, or just random life/natural events. A creepy sentence said by NPC (which turns out to be a silly and irrelevant joke); a random sound, a slight change in the room which means nothing but feels ominous.
Again: make player scare himself. People are quite good at that.
A nice illustration of what you say.

Urpney, 1.4 is the version Rem wanted me to sell saying he thinks its the most intact one. No idea on previous version numbers myself, sorry. I'll PM you in a few days about a promotion. The deal is for Desura key, it's pending approval there at the moment. It won't be possible to get the soundtrack via Desura. I'll be happy to upgrade you and other customers of the DRM-free copy (via S7) to Quiet Haven deal in due course (and for free).
The one I had was 2.0, currently sold at GamersGate :) It removes save\load\exit parts form the game screen, fixes multiple shotgun bug near the end and adds one really nasty bug (crash due to a missing variable) near in one of the endings. One you sell keeps the GUI elements on screen (I don't mind them) and fixes both those nasty bugs, so it's far superior to the one I had :) It still has few typos \ syntax mistakes ("I can't use X on the Sophie" or suspension points expressed by number of dots other than three) and one walk behind area problem, but I guess you have to look for those to find it :) I know no update is currently planned, but if you ever decide to release 1.5, I'll be happy to send you a more detailed list :)
For now, thanks for bringing Downfall back!

After some request, Downfall drm-free with OST:

http://www.quiethavenhotel.co.uk

Only £2.22 until the end of the month. And as we have a promotion on, here are 3 keys for The Cat Lady on Desura :) When they're gone they're gone:

All right... I hope I won't regret not waiting for Quiet Haven deal :)
Spoiler

- My download link says v1.4. Wasn't version 2.0 the newest one?
- Hope that those nasty bugs (multiple shotguns, broken 'Surrender' endings) are gone? :)
- Is it possible to generate a gift code? I'd like to make you a little campaign on GOG, just like with The Cat Lady :)

If anybody's after Slender-like scares (good atmosphere with no\very little plot), this one is worth checking out.

I'd love to make a Slender adventure game by the way!;) I bet it's all been copy-righted by now, though...
Use a better and much more mysterious creepypasta

Also what happened to that AGS horror game with the film grain and the people crawling through walls. I think it was at AdventureX two years ago and the demo was really cool.
This one? I'm looking forward to it too. Seems still in production.

Bethesda's Daggerfall, by contrast, was one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I've had. Partly because of bugs, but mostly because so much time is wasted on stuff that doesn't really matter. You can talk to any person you meet anywhere, but almost none of them has anything interesting to say. The story gets lost in all the sidequests and open world faffing about, and even when you get to a dungeon it's procedurally generated and almost impossible to fully explore.

I feel just the same about every Beth's game - when first playing Morrowind, I got lost in the woods, attacked by a demon when I tried to find a shelter in some random cave and when I finally found some town, I accidently turned everybody hostile because I took some rubbish that, it turned out, belonged to someone.

Finally, I think in general stories should be about people, that personal stakes matter and resonate more than generic "save the world" quests. So even in an RPG I'm not in favor of the blank protagonist, completely customizable to be whoever you want. (Though it's fine to take on a basic role and decide what version of that role to play. As if you're playing Batman and choosing whether to be goofy Adam West or the tortured Dark Knight.)

This sounds like you were talking about Planescape: Torment only without mentioning the title.
