I loved "9 months in" :) I hope it doesn't matter that I did some voiceacting for it, but I definitely had nothing to do with story or art. Looking forward to designing some nice box art!

I'm also looking forward to see 304's interpretation of "Escape the Barn". If you need any of the original svg files (for example the title text) I can upload it for you :)

Do you also have a VGA->HDMI adapter?
#3224
Yes, do the flip-flop!

On another note: is anyone going to show and tell something? Do we need some kind of adapter-thingy to connect a laptop?

I found an error too:
Spoiler
in the end, when there are those guys standing in front of the saloon, when I open the menu and close it, the granny is suddenly small size. This also persists when I entered the house.

That aside, great game!  :)

AGS Games in Production / Re: Kinky Island

I tried the demo. The graphics are nice, the lines are fun and the music is nice. But I hate the GUI. It feels like the unwanted bastard child of Lucas Arts and Sierra. Having to right-click every time or clicking the "use" button (where the sound starts to get annoying pretty soon) is complicated. I prefer the standard right/left click interface, but if going for verbs either use the standard LA system with right-click default actions or Sierra style with keeping the cursor mode and not changing to walk after every action. This mix starts to get tedious.

Btw, I'm still stuck in the room with a vine.

Edit: Is there a way to save a game? I tried several buttons just to get the game restarted  :(
Edit2: I like talking to the brain  :)
Edit3: Just read the other posts, so, yeah, what Armageddon said :P

On the main page, where the 3 random screenshots are shown: Sometimes there is the "missing image" icon shown, although on the game's page it is displayed correctly. Example: Draculator II: Byte of the Draculator

I'm in! I'll try to do some concepts on paper during Mittens.

+1

It also would be nice to link the trophies back to the competition thread.

That's bad news  :( Could you at least change your flight so you can still be with us that weekend in Berlin?

Well, it looks traced and if it wasn't for the clean lines on this grid thing, I'd say it's a photo converted with a filter. I think gameboy traces a lot, so if this is what you want it to look like, you're going in the right direction. But as you said, there are too many colors.

Box art sounds great, too! But I'm with Ilyich, I think everybody should choose themselves which game they want to make the box art for.

What about a character design workshop? This could include a portrait, but also the complete figure and considerations about the character's personality, role, look,...

There is this amazing book by Tom Bancroft about this topic.

I'm not too much interested in portraits, but I think I might join nontheless. Please wait until after Mittens :)

The "Tt" button in the post editor adds a [tele] tag which does not work. This should be "tt" as suggested by Ryan Timothy in another thread.

@selmiak: I thought about using backspace. Rightclick could be indeed a bit more complicated. Shouldn't be too hard to do. You need one ringbuffer for the last, say, 10 lines and another buffer for the messages yet to say. The only problem could be that a complete custom implementation of Say() might be needed...

@Ryan: Ah, then the button creates wrong tags.

@Radiant: Might be more difficult, but maybe there is way to work around. You can still use the dialog system and say all lines using the Say() function.

The purple and dark blue on the jacket are too similar, I can hardly see the difference. This is also the case with the two darkest and two lightest gray tones. Use more distinct shades. The way it is now it looks blocky.

Also, while Anian's paintover does a great job in showing the muscles, the arms are a tad too short.
#3238
@Snarky, I don't think this would be too difficult. However, you'd have to use some kind of [tele]cEgo.SayCustom("bla");[/tele] function instead of the usual Say(). Would you be interested in such a module?

Edit: Strange, the forum's [tele][/tele] tag doesn't seem to work...

Happy WHAMday! (and no need to remember, the birthdays are written on the bottom of the forum's startpage :) )

I like to play adventures together with my boyfriend. This way, (2) is annoying because we have to somehow let the other know when we have finished each line. I prefer (3). Letting the player not skip dialog is annoing, even if it is super-timed and fitted to music.
