I've played the demo for this a bit.

I guess this is a student project, made on campus in Cordoba Granada? The game does a good job of showcasing the campus and telling the player all about it and what you may find there. You get points for finding information about the campus and student life in general, not just for advancing the story or completing assigned tasks or puzzles. I believe the primary target group will be Spanish-talking people who know the University or wants to study there, although it's no hassle playing for anyone else either. But I think the game will be most appreciated by those familiar with the locations, or by those who can learn their way around before coming there.  :-D

As the game progresses, we get to see the equipment the protagonist will use for his own film project, and this is probably the same that has been used for the game. Maybe the game is the product of the same task the students in the game receives?

While I may not spend money on this, I still think it's a pleasant experience. The grade will most likely be good! The game has run smoothly as far as I have played. There are far more locations than items/characters, which adds to my thoughts about this game being used to learn one's way around campus. Some of the jokes are internal, like jabs at the odonthology students attending the same school, some are references to known works like Back to the Future or Monkey Island.  The English pronounciation has a heavy Spanish accent, but there are subtitles, so it's not hard to understand. Spanish speakers should choose Spanish sound, though.

Congratulations on the release and good luck with your grades! (Is the professor in the game your real professor, perhaps?)  ;) I would not mind seeing more games from you.

The amount of feedback hasn't exactly been staggering, which I guess means that my game is crap.  (laugh)

Anyway:

Unexpected Guest by Pell:
Spoiler
It's just a picture, turned in to fulfill the obligation of saying he was in. Not a game, so far as I have found. The picture is nice and far outweighs my own abilities in that regard. But I don't really know if Pell meant this as a real entry - it looks more like showing what he did.

Halloween with an Unexpected Guest by Heltenjon:
Spoiler
So, I made this. It's not a great game - you could say I was aiming for two cups, but would be okay with getting one. (So please rate it on the games page!) It's made for fun with still pictures using my kids' toys and no music and no animation, so that's definitely an area of possible improvement. The story wasn't written out before I started coding, so it's a case of writing a story to fit the pictures, more or less. But there are lots and lots of jokes/puns/allusions, which people may or may not like, interaction feedback for almost anything (except using one item on another, which I forgot), often different when you do it later in the game and a couple of easy puzzles. I love dialogue trees, so there may be a bit too much of those. I was actually curious about one of the dialogue puzzles (prior to Jack's date's arrival), as I thought it was a bit clever when I wrote it, but later thought that it may have been unfair to the player and just an annoyance.

Who should win?
Spoiler
I actually thought I'd win this one be default, too, which is a lousy way of winning anything. But unless there's something I haven't discovered, mine is the only game entered, bad as it may be.

I did try adding it to the games database... it told me it couldn't find the file location. I'm not sure where to point the directory, as it's hosted on itch.io and the download button is on a popup window, but I finally have some money and am going to be getting my own website where I can host it soon.
Simply put https://dogandahalf.itch.io/the-occultist-old-growth in the download link panel. You usually can't hotlink to host sites. They want the hits from users.  ;)

After the WanderingWizard, formerly known as Esper, released his latest game, I discovered that his old games needed an update on the link front.

Esper: The town on the Edge of Darkness can be found at https://archive.org/details/esper-the-town-on-the-edge-of-darkness
Heart of Abraxas can be found at https://archive.org/details/heart-of-abraxas
Alpha X Tech Demo can be found at https://archive.org/details/alpha-x
Alpha X â€" Project: Smash can be found at https://archive.org/details/alpha-x-project-smash

I just discovered the PNG file in the game directory with all the Esper classifications. Oh my! Just to make a case for each abbreviation will make this a long and interesting series.

I'll go with "Hey this could be cool"!  :-D

Are some of the older videos (with the giant spider) from the older version?

is this fuses of different colours? Ignore the pattern on the wall and look closely on the wires instead.

I played this tonight, and was very pleased!
Spoiler
If "pleased" is the word I can use about the ending I achieved...

I'll chime in with Shadow1000 and the others that the game is very atmospheric - I loved how the Tower looked from afar, towering above the woods.

Excellent use of the mycologist - learning while having fun, and at the same time as the main character learns. It also shows us that Ian is an adaptive fellow, a worthy protagonist of a series. I also liked very much how the writing suggests more than we get to know. I won't know for sure before I reach ending number 2, but it certainly seems like some mysteries are left unsolved until the next games.

I hope you add it to the main AGS database/games page as well. When you are done with your bug fixes?

Congratulations on the result from the game jam! There are too many entries in that one for me to delve heavily into it - I'm primarily interested in the adventure games.

EDIT: Got the other ending as well. Turns out
Spoiler
that the ending I'd got was the good one. The horror genre will do that do you! (nod)

I can make some suggestions, but I’ve picked some times now, so perhaps someone else ought to chime in.

M*A*S*H: The adventure game hits the feeling from the tv show very well and was well received by those who played it. Unfortunately, the spelling of the title may mean that it’s hard to find via search. Also, I proofread for this, so it may be too close to home for me to nominate. But I’d say it’s a pretty good game.

If this section is mostly about overlooked gems, then If on a Winter’s Night: Four Travelers probably doesn’t fit, as it was met with universal praise. Maybe the best AGS game ever. (Hell, best _game_ ever, if you ask me.)

If we’re looking for older games, then why not nominate ! by Ben304? It’s a minimalist masterpiece, with all the locations in comic book-like panels on a single screen. Great variety in the puzzles as well makes this a true classic.

One game that really gets me in a good mood, is Slasher’s The Rat Pack Do Cheesy Castle. Short and easy MAGS entry, but all those music cuts about cheese really makes me smile when I think of it.

One of my all-time favourites is Elia, Alaria & The Kids Having a Good Time at the Beach (Or at least they try). It’s a short slice-of.life comedy as Elia have to make everyone ready to go. Beautiful Lorenzo art and hilarious Lorenzo humour equals a great playing experience.

I think his blog was here (http://cmioe.blogspot.com), but it's gone...

Yes, I meant I couldn't find the blog where I expected... did anyone download all the stuff before it went down?

At http://www.g4g.it/2011/11/21/the-curse-of-monkey-island-classic-edition-demo/ the download zip is nearly 80 Mb, and it looks like it contains both compiled and raw data. But the upload date seems to be 2011, so I'm not sure everything is there.

Yes! Happy to see that you took up playing this game too, I appreciate it, thanks!
Happy to oblige! It's fun, after all!  ;)
QuoteIf I still manage to make another adventure game I'm definitely learning to script that visible hotspot thing, that gives the name of the hotspot. I usually prefer it too in games.
That's easy compared to much of the other stuff you do!
QuoteAs for ending 2

Your on the right track. It's propably just about the green puffs now. Two identical sets, hmm...  ;)

Not exactly:
Spoiler
I've already found the sheet music, but haven't freed the guy in the cage. It doesn't seem to really change anything. The only way to advance time seems to be to sleep in Coney's house or the jail, triggering the paths to the known endings. Either there's something I've missed, or there is some way to escape ending 4 - it's possible to run away for a short while, but I don't think that's it.

Edit: Ending 2 achieved!

Bill Burr has a great rebuttal for that idiotic conspiracy theory.  "Why would you kill off the obedient ones?"
I have an idea. It's all the other way around. This vaccine is not against covid, it's against another deadlier virus that is not here yet. What would be the most efficient way to separate obedient and rebellious people? The world government would fake the covid and spread vaccine, so only obedient people who easily believe in their lies would vaccinate and rebellious won't. Then they would release a real virus for which there's no other defense, and all who did not comply will die.
(laugh) (laugh) Please, somebody make a game out of that idea!

Out of all the seven levels, I think level six was my favourite. All the levels add a new puzzle to solve, And now my daughter and her friends are playing it a lot!  (nod)
