These early versions are also available on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/ags-v2_6_2 is the one in this case.

Quote from: gabriel19681_1 on Mon 21/04/2025 15:20:01Hello, I have a game that is very difficult to find, Abstract, Or at least I think so, since I can't run it. I'll leave it to you to see if anyone can tell me how to run it. Thanks.

QuoteAnother missing game no more lost. Thanks for your efforts in preserving them. Downloaded and tested on DosBox: nicely working

Welcome, Zwiffer. We look forward to playing your game when you're ready to show it. You'll find many Sierra fans here, and the community is awesome.  (nod)

Bizaron, the guy behind games such as Joe's Miserable Life and Joe's Horrible Hell, also has a game in Czech that's not in the database, namely Schoollout. This looks just as morbid as the other games, starting in an elementary school after a revolution/school shooting. I don't know the language, so I haven't played this. Probably not everyone's cup of tea.

Mew_Mew16/WeeklyJournaling also has a couple of games not in the database yet:
Detective Promo Game is a short investigation game.
A1 Romanian Introduction has a Completed Game Announcement thread, but is not in the database. Like the title says, it's a language learning tool/game, teaching the player how to introduce themself to other people, among other things.

I'm sure I will hate it, but I better wishlist and buy it just to make sure. Probably buy a t-shirt with that depressing office image as well.

So...you're waiting for Godot to be coded?  (laugh)

Downloaded! Please add it to the database, too.  (nod)

Congratulations, Soulstuff! Two for two! That's impressive.  (nod)

I feel silly just by suggesting this, but is there any event on the right side that should have been enabled by the lightning icon in the editor? I guess that's the most common thing to miss if copy-pasting code, at least if I'm doing it.

Quote from: Snarky on Mon 14/04/2025 20:18:03I would disagree that "inverted logic" is traditional in adventure games. This sort of key-before-lock "backwards puzzles" have been widely considered bad game design at least since Ron Gilbert's classic 1989 article Why Adventure Games Suck, and most skilled designers make an effort to avoid them. (Though they can be hard to completely eliminate in very non-linear games.)
Agreed to the key-before-lock thing, but picking up everything that isn't nailed down and carrying around strange collections of items in your inventory in the hope of needing it later is quite common. Rubber chicken? Though some (most?) modern games avoid this.

Hints & Tips / Re: BUG the game

Quote from: matdogpig on Mon 14/04/2025 16:35:42Hey, thanks for playing the game, and sorry for the slow reply, I need to check the forum more often!
If you click the button marked "No Alerts or Emails", you can choose to be notified when someone makes a post in this thread. "No Alerts(...)" is just the current setting.

Like CW says, this is highly subjective. I don't know if I even can agree with myself from one game to another. As a rule of thumb, I don't feel pixel hunting is the fun part of adventure gaming.

Various solutions:
* The small item in the grass sparkles and gleams.
* Item description on mouseover. It should be clear what the active part of the mouse cursor is.
* Pressing a key show all hotspots. This solution lets the players decide what they want.

That was funny. The interviewer clearly had no idea what this was he was asking questions about, but he was positive anyway.  :-D

This game isn't in the database yet. It's a short course, teaching how to introduce yourself in Romanian.

While this should be fairly basic beginner's stuff, it's quite complicated if you have a language with a system with fewer conjugations, cases and gendered words. Nevertheless, it's a helpful short lesson. I like that the two characters speak and use themselves and each other as examples.

Quote from: WeeklyJournaling on Thu 19/09/2024 20:52:09The sequel is finsihed ! It is called Foodie Frenzy A1-A2 and it  is in the database.

It can also be found on itch
https://mew-mew16.itch.io/foodie-frenzy-romanian-a1

I just realized this thread actually covers three of these games! I'm not so sure that's a very good idea in terms of getting feedback, but all right, I'll post here, and if the mods want to split it up later, they can do so.

I played the Foodie Frenzy game first. I liked that there were small minigames or -levels that tested what I had just (hopefully) learnt. I also think you hit the right amount of words for this not to get entirely overwhelming.

Small bug:
Spoiler
The player can make a recipe by adding the same ingredient twice instead of using the third one.

Quote from: cat on Tue 25/03/2025 20:09:32I don't know how to continue. I looked at the various objects and he said their colors. He says that he is tired and should go to bed, but doesn't. What am I supposed to do?

Sorry about that, it was one of the first games I made so if I remember right it ends when you click the clock or something like that. You're not missing out on anything if you finished the mini lesson and explored the apartment.

I think there is no ending, unfortunately.

I liked the language parts of this, which are the most important bits, of course. This time, the Sierra verbs are partially used, but I'm still not convinced that template is the best one for this type of game. And walking around is both unnecessary and shows that the character sprite does not scale up or down - he may end up "floating" and looking the wrong size.

I keep saying Barbatul Manesc to my daughter whenever I'm grabbing a snack, so the learning aspect works.  :-D

Thanks again, Gabriel!  ;-D

@DrSlash or someone with Linux - Someone has reported an error with the Linux download of this game. Could someone check if there is an error, or if this is a false report? (I don't have Linux myself.)

EDIT: There's now also reported an error with the Mac download. Please check.

Quote from: Marion on Wed 09/04/2025 19:54:01I got an error message when I try to add a new game on the AGS website... So here is the announcement !

First: There's been some technical problems with adding new games lately. This one ended up being added three times. AGA's looking into it. Meanwhile, I've disabled two of the entries, keeping the one with the Deviant art link.

Secondly: Like Rik said, congratulations on the release, and I'm really happy that you're still making games. I haven't watched the tv series, but will try the game anyway.  ;-D

On the front game page, https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/ , Under Most recent games, it looks like games without working thumbnails are not listed. (Rosewater is most recent game, and it does not show up here.)
