OK. Firstly, there's a decorative band at the bottom which doesn't add anything to the general ambience. I hardly noticed it to start with, but after a while I wondered what it was doing there. Secondly, the text is often difficult to make out against the background; maybe outlining would help? Next, the dialogue is occasionally a little too quick -- I'd be looking at the facial expression of one character as the other character's dialogue flashed past. Lastly, there's a lot of exposition between two essentially static people: movement of some kind could add interest?

I didn't make it to the end of the prequel either, sorry. Like I said, apologies if this is all rather negative...

I just had a look at the Hydra's Head prequel. I've got some observations, but they are a bit...harsh. If you're OK with that, fine, if not I'll keep my big mouth shut!

I'm a beginner here, but I would guess this is anti-aliasing at work...

He he -- ok. Thanks for the lesson.

ps. yes, the English word 'brackish' is derived from the same origin as the word 'brak'.

I don't understand -- I always thought "brackish" meant salt water mixed with fresh water, like in a salt marsh...

Your subjective view of the worth of your games clashes with other people's subjective views. No-one can win an argument like this.

I mean. I'm just a noob here, but couldn't you use Snarkey's 'Particles' module?

Noob here. Using Windows 10. I was looking for the 'modulus' operator, and couldn't find it. Is that missing as well?

AGS Games in Production / Re: Tardigrades ©

I read today that researchers at Delft University in the Netherlands are hoping to bounce a tardigrade on a "quantum-mechanical trampoline" to demonstrate, for the first time, interaction between a living being and the quantum sub-atomic universe.

That second shot is a great composition.

In other software you could display a black rectangle covering the screen. You would start with maximum transparency, and gradually decrease the transparency until the rectangle is completely black. Would this work?
#13
Thanks for that! Just downloaded it - I intend to take a look at it tomorrow.

The 'Draculator II' gives a 403 error (not even a 404...), and the 'Open Quest' link directs you to the AGS Archive Torrent, which I have never been able to figure out. A little bit of detective work led me to a better link for Open Quest: https://archive.org/details/openquest.
[EDIT]
The accompanying Open Quest readme.txt file says "The source project file is available as well as the final executable." There aren't any source project files in this incarnation. So it looks like the 'Demo Game' scenario needs a bit more work if the current version is to be replaced. I'd be interested in something a little more advanced.

Personally, with how bad Christmas cracker jokes are, I kind of wish they'd go all the way and make them anti-jokes. It would actually make them funnier in my opinion, because you wouldn't expect it.
What do you get when you cross a snowman with a crocodile? A snow crocodile!
How do you stop a skunk from smelling? Spray it with perfume!
No, that doesn't work. It goes beyond anguished groans and into uncomfortable silence broken by dry coughs...

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

In the spirit of dubious logic pervading this competition, I'd like to congratulate Sinitrena, and give thanks for finishing ahead of a serious case of administrative malpractice! Second place is more than I deserve...

I thought my simile was apt, and related to both of your points. But that's just my point of view...

Ok, here's a longer answer.
Imagine we're still in the middle of the Cold War. I'm an East German, and I've saved all my marks, or coupons, or chickens, whatever, and I'm ready to buy a car. I visit the nearest car showroom, and the only car I can buy is a Trabant. I sit down in the showroom to fill in my party form. I'm asked for a review of the Trabant. What do I write? What makes the car stand out for me? What special characteristics does the car have that I feel would complement my lifestyle?

This isn't about you, or me. This is a dichotomy when there are only two (genuine(!)) responses to a contest, and one of those people is asked to comment on the other entry. This may be easy for you -- it's not for me. In the previous contest I entered I did indeed take the time to vote and comment. I respect your outlook -- can't you respect mine?

Then pick between your own and mine. That would still be better than nothing at all.
I.Can't.Pick.Mine. Don't you see?
