Here be Normans...

Anim8or models, Bryce render

The quality of the submissions in all of the competitions, lately, has me wondering if I have anything worth contributing. Nonetheless, the recipe for an awesome game might include one of these fellows. An elseif:

And no, Adeel, he's not doing what you think he's doing. That's a switch in his hand. It directs the data path.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, here, going through the portal before I know where I'm heading. I have some additional thoughts, and I'll try to update, but I need to figure out, exactly, how to do what I have in mind. I also need to add some more stuff to bring it into compliance with the rules.

If Myst had been made in the Kindle era...

A portal to my Blitz entry?

640x480. An Anim8or model/render. The wood texture is something out of a Carrara Tutorial.

Edit1:

Fired Bryce up and made a gif fly-around.

Don't think either Anim8or or Bryce can "play" a gif file on a surface, so I'll have to do some manual labor for a work around. Trees and shrubs are from Bryce, as are the textures used in gas station.

Edit2:

Got the fly-around into the Kindle:

Now, need to figure out how to make the transition. How to make the portal work...

Edit3: I think I'm done?

I'm going to drop the img tags for the earlier attempts, but I'll leave the links so if you want to look at the WIPs, feel free. Hopefully, that'll knock down the time required to load the page.

Time seems to wield the ultimate wrecking ball, witness this gas station that has seen better days:

Worked from a Googled image that "seemed" to have a hand pumped gas pump, along with what appeared to be a fairly new pay telephone. A bit of a contradiction, but the pay phone is also a victim of time.

Modeled in Anim8or and rendered in Bryce.

Guys and gals, I haven't had much luck with my modeling, lately, and was nearly ready to let this thread pass off into oblivion. Was Googling around the web, just now, and found this:

I figure the critter must be a distant relative of The Ponch.

And, thanks to some recent photos you posted, I'm watching you, too.

This is correct.

I was afraid it might be. Well... How about something locally grown:

Or, maybe Gribbler can dig something else out of his vaults.

Looks like one of the Realms of Arkania games, perhaps Star Trail. Interesting games, but I never finished any of them.

Thought it was time to feed the herd.

I understand Cassiebsg's point. The back leg may still be off. I'll know more when I attempt the walk cycle.

Love the goats! :)
But just one thing, in case you did not do it on purpose, the back legs need to be flipped... the bone should point backwards, not forward. ;)

Cassie said there's something wrong with my butt...

Thanks cassiebsg - I tried to fix.

those reindeer toes! 8-0

That was caused by a wrong extrude that went unnoticed until it was too late. Okay for the creature, but not for Santy.

I've been held up on the courtroom drama. I played Goat Herd and the Gods, which has nothing to do with the characters in this -- I swear!

Just don't tell the folks at Dropped Monocle, okay? Andail might should be worried. I read his post, went to Steam, and now have Paradox.

Still need to rig and etc.

Ponch was invited to lunch, recently...

Edit: Uh, let's make that invited to Christmas dinner:

Merry Christmas to all!

Found the perfect man for the camera:

Need to rig the judge and the bailiff, is why they still have the yoga pose. The floating heads will go away, soon. I've attached them to the bodies, which may prove to be a mistake. We shall see.

Edit: At the risk of giving Ponch nightmares from that motorcycle accident, I decided to make this a personal injury case. This made a new T-Pose necessary:

These add-ons make weight painting difficult, and I don't always get the results I hope for. The doggy Cone-O-Shame seemed more appropriate than a neck brace, in this instance.

A couple of things pointed out to me, on the Anim8or Forums:

Economics explained in terms of two cows:

And, that the scene should show the camera and crew. Don't have the crew, but did make a state-of-the-art camera:

I have had a variety of issues, lately, that have scrambled my model files, badly. Not that they were all that well organized to begin with, but I have lost some stuff. Word of warning, the CryptoWall Ransomware was part of the problem. Anyway...

Ponch and Baron have a legal dispute. Decided to see if this venue might provide a solution:

More may follow, but I make no promises.

I'd been messing with this one for a while now. In general, I'm not being pleased with anything I've tried lately, but here it is, nonetheless:

If anyone reads this within the next 5 hours, A Golden Wake is on sale for $9.99 over at GOG.

Appreciate the post; it generated one additional sale for you and saved me some money. Thanks for an enjoyable game!

Minor nitpick: If the green car is a four door, the whole side of the car is opening. If the car is two doors, than the doors are too big.

Started on the always enjoyable commentary replay. Big chuckle out of the first Historical Comment by The Professor.
