Says Thomas Regin has a birthday today. Thanks for those Blackwell tunes. Still listen to Jamie's Song from time to time. Have a great one!

I couldn't read the rest of the Chocodile article, is it me or is this sentence wrong? "Chocodiles /ˈtÊÆ'É’kɵdaɪlz/ was a confection created by the Hostess Brands company."

Should it not be were? Please advise.

My opinion is that was is correct, here. Chocodiles is a collective noun representing a single type of confection created by the Hostess Brands company. In context, you wouldn't say "a confection were created by the Hostess Brands company." I tend to be wrong on this type of stuff a lot, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Not a GoT fan, then. How about MIB?

Zed, we have a bug.

Anim8or models, except for the foliage, which was generated with the old PlantStudio program.

Edit: Or this, which was a natural outgrowth of the other one, a Blues in Black, as it were:

Just add the hats. "Zed, we got another bug." Tried for the car, too, but didn't work out all that well.

So, Ponch, whatcha think about Game of Thrones?

My choice of critter to put in here turns it into a cartoon, so the juxtaposition may not be as obvious as it should be. Other words, I've got some 'splainin' to do. I thought taking a look at camping/camp grounds might inspire me, since there are some contradictions in what we seem to need to live the simple life outdoors. I found a captivating photo, that someone had staged, of an old pickup in front of a new looking fifth-wheel trailer. Set out to model it. This is what happened along the way:

It also answers the age old question about what a bear really does in the woods: he drinks coffee and works on his AGS game.

I may work some more on this. I have a couple of things I want to do with the truck model, and I'd like to work some more on the terrain, close and distant. Make no promises, however.

@Cassiebsg - I wish that were true. I bumble around at best. They never, ever look like what I see in my mind's eye.

@Adeel -

I recall you saying quite a while back that you'd been sick. Is this a continuation of that, or something new? And, you don't have to tell me, if you don't want to. I'll send good thoughts your direction either way.

I should have built this a bit differently; it might have rigged better.

Don't talk about mom like that!

Sorry, didn't mean to touch a nerve.

You could have told me I could have used the Urkel car here, instead of making a whole 'nother one. I was going to put some cow horns on the hood, but the avatar said, "No way!"

Edit: When I came up with this, I debated about starting a whole new thread entitled "Ponch is really in trouble now!" But, I decided I should probably keep it here, where the folks are tolerant of me. Then I debated bumping the thread, but decided against it. So, here's the latest thing I made to torment Ponch with:

Gingersnap, I know a win by default may not feel like a righteous win, but that is still a wonderful background. I'd have loved to have seen the entry that would have knocked it out of the running. I'm declaring gingersnap the winner and wishing gingersnap better luck in topic choices than I'm having.

Gingersnap... Wow! Impressed the heck out of me. Worth the wait.

Anybody else need more time?

Lots of good suggestions and things to consider. This is how it stands, at the moment:

Still trying things. I believe the extra dimensional explanation is going to be used. Except for Adeel. He's different because he's from Pakistan.  ;)

I still need to teach Adeel to walk, but Data and the Browncoat have already learned. These are antialiased, and there are artifacts, but not very noticeable (at least to me).

@CaptainD - I figured a RoN game might be most forgiving with this mixture, and your explanation could work.

@Problem - I'd concluded that I was probably going to have to work on the model lighting in Anim8or to pop out the colors better than they were looking in-game. Appreciate the input!

I think I need a scene where "Data" first arrives in RoN:

Would any of the particle system add-ons in AGS be helpful, here? Industrial Light and Magic has nothing to worry about from me, but the folks who did the Transport Rings in SG1 might have cause for concern... Or, maybe not.

Can you tell what the idea behind the mixture of elements is?

And I guess Roger is just an object on that vending machine, not a character?

I've got a nebulous idea for a RoN game, but don't have much in the way of 2D spriting skills. I might be able to use my 3D characters, but if mixing the elements is too off-putting, then it would be a waste of effort. I could also set out to model RoN, but that would be very time consuming, and not of much use to anyone.

The scene is from a default game using a mixture of RoN assets and my models. Roger is the only character in the scene. I was looking at screen resolutions and sprite sizes to find something that I thought might work.

You, my friend, just wasted $10. Aseprite is an opensource program and you can get its full version by compiling the source code or have someone compile it for you (if you can't do so yourself).

I wouldn't say it is wasted. I've already found it does a couple of things easier/better than Gimp. Seems reasonable to support people making software that is useful to a person. It seems much improved to the previous version, which I had taken a look at, but not found very useful. I'll keep you in mind next time I need something compiled.  :-)

Edit: Watched the Blade Runner movie (again). So, Ponch, tell us about your mother?

Uhmmm, come to think of it, that didn't work out so well for the guy who asked the question, so, never mind.

In general, how unsettling is this mixture of elements?

Adeel, to the right on screen, is just an object at this time, and I'm just displaying from an interaction. I'm trying to decide whether to proceed, and if so what resolution to shoot for. I didn't like the look of my characters at 320x, but this looks better to me. That might not be the public opinion.

What? What is that? Who are you? That isn't 3D!

Based on the votes it's getting me, it isn't 2D either. Maybe 0.6D, maximum.

My votes:

1-AprilSkies
2-Ghost
3-Tabata (Ghost just edged you out)

Been informed by my critics outside this Forum, that the black jacket would be more suitable for a RoN Matrix based game, rather than a RoN Blade Runner based game. I will endeavor to fix the jacket. I'm also off to the library to check out a DVD of the Blade Runner film; it has been a while since I watched it, a fact that will, without doubt, lessen my current standing with Ponch.
But it does get me thinking about The Matrix. Any Pakistanis in that film? Would that Data face pass for Neo? Has Neo ever visited RoN, or Arnold? I'll maybe be back.

Edit: Worked a bit on the "replicant."

It is really easy to mess these up, and they're not looking as nice in-game as the RoN assets.

Edit 6/29/14: I also improved the eye/hand coordination of the Mounties, a bit.

On an unrelated subject, I downloaded the trial version of Aesprite, liked what I saw, paid the $10.00 and bought the full program. Worth a look, seems to me.

I have something I'm working on for this, but I need a bit more time. Sunday (29th) should do it, if no one minds.

I see no reason not to extend it out to, say, July 1, 2014. I'll change it. Thanks for the interest, gingersnap. You too, Stupot+

So when are you going to make an AGS game jwalt? :)

I'm beginning to think I may be close to trying. In fact, I'm wondering if I may not have something that might work as a RoN game, of a sort. I was trying for a face along the lines of Blackwell's Durkin, but wound up with something that looked more like someone from another franchise. Mr. Eyebrows, with a change to the dream coat and suitable weapon, might work for someone chasing a replicant around RoN. And somebody, don't remember who, posted something about a RoN template, somewhere. Might work.

Wonder how Apu Adeel, would feel about taking a couple of shifts at the YahtzeeBrand store? Don't know, at the present time, how to work a wolf's head into the mix, but I'll keep thinking about it.

I decided to take the dream coat for a RON walk in Anim8or.

I also wanted to try Anim8or's multiple camera option. Don't know if this proves anything, just sharing. Background is a RON asset.
