Looks great to me. You might consider dialing back on the shadows that cloak the stuff on the left side. Those would, likely, be heavy curtains, and while it isn't impossible to support their weight by rods hidden behind the moldings, my eyes want to see a box structure above the molding where it juts out. That might complicate the ceiling, since it looks like it is curved around the edges. Oh, and get the character to wear a different vest. Green and purple?  (laugh)

Thanks for the suggestions, Cassiebsg. I tried a couple of things, but decided it is probably best just to move the camera outside for the porch shots. I think I can get an angle from the porch into the restaurant interior that will do what I want to do. Here's a spinshot inside my model:

Foliage is from the old PlantStudio program, and renders nicer than it looks here. It's also got a whole lot of points, but Anim8or seems to be handling them.

Well, a casket, at least. Screen capture from a default game to look at a setting. I need to find a texture that makes me happy for the road/road apron, but feel free to tear up the rest of it. Time frame is late 1950s.

The intent is the guys in the hearse have mechanical problems with the hearse. The trucker suggests a course of action that sends them on to the next destination, which involves my Diner in this forum, see below or above -- somewheres. Haven't created the characters, just yet, but I do have some heads in my closet.

Three entries to check out and two days remaining to put something together. If you need more time, let me know. I might extend the deadline, a bit, since trophys are unlikely.

In my defense, I've been laid up for the last couple of weeks with broken bones and stuff.

Oh noes... Broken bones!

I added a porch and some more stuff. One couple, mentioned in the initial post will take their conversation outside to the Pepsi machine, while the other couple will stay inside. I messed with the exterior wall between the porch and restaurant, and it might do what I need to do. It is, however, confusing, since there would be windows and walls between the two areas, along with a door beside the Pepsi machine. Not sure what to do, here.

I just did a screen capture in Anim8or, since it gives a better idea of the space. The green box marks off the area the camera would render at current resolution. The figure in the scene is a DAZ Studio figure I'm using in an effort to keep to scale.

Thanks for the kind words, Jwalt. None of the tracks on the soundtrack are supposed to loop. All looping tracks from the game have been edited to include two whole iterations on the soundtrack and then they're fading out. I know that there are a few minor cracks on a few of the songs on the soundtrack (not in the actual game), because I was in a slight hurry to compile the 34 original songs and made a some minor mistakes here and there. If Dave's up for it, I may re-edit those and submit a "patch". :-)

Thomas.

It isn't worth worrying about. It's a segment of eight or so "ticks," and may well be what you intended. It just sounded out of place, and I thought something might be up when the basic tune returned. That's why I thought it might be looping. I have a copy of Jamie's song on my desktop and listen to it quite often. (nod) It was perfect for that scene/place.

Well, you actually can get from here to there, but you might wind up as a hood ornament on the 120 Limited that does not make this stop.

If I can find the time, I have a couple of additional things I'd like to try here, but I can't promise anything.

Edit: Rainy Sunday kept me indoors, so I did a bit with my image:

Edit 2: Still Sunday, and still raining. Dumped a couple more things into the scene, but I maybe should have quit while I was ahead.

I had more in mind with this one, but I got frustrated: don't like the car, don't like the way the sofa "unfolds," and the clothing is doing weird things to me for unknown reasons. Still thought I'd share it.

+1 to those congratulations!

You might want to take a listen to the music track in the gym. I'm getting a tick-tick-tick-tick sound when it loops, at least on my system. It might even be intentional, a part of the track. Music throughout the whole series has been really good.

Is there "only" one possible ending? If so, I can think of two possibly better endings. I have completed the game, but I want to go through the commentary track before I visit the complaint department.

It is was a wonderful series.

Hope this fits into what you had in mind. :)

Thanks for the entry, and that is what I had in mind.

There have been two local events, recently, that have prompted a lot of before/during/after shots on TV newscasts: we had a major flood, and the dome of the state capital building was restored. The subject of this ball is Transitional States.

What I propose is to fill in my shape with a before/during/after image, looking at transitional states in your subject matter. You can resize/rotate as required. You can also change the order to emphasize the state you feel most important, or open to your best creative interpretation.  If the order is not obvious, please share the order when you post your entry.

So, put in your Vivaldi CD and show us three of those Four Seasons. Or, give us a glimpse of your latest pixel-ing effort, from sketch, to midpoint, to final. Or, give us a picture of your bathroom, before, during, and after you cleaned it all up bright and shiny. Or, show us your inner child, the mature adult you've become, and the old fogy that will be looking back at you from the mirror before you realize it.

Open through May 5, 2014.

Voting through May 10, 2014.

I see. You are correct, Citizen. I had not taken the number two nominations into account. I stand corrected. I shall have a new one up in a bit. I have to make it into a .png, and post it to Photobucket. Thanks, everyone.

Thanks, Citizen. Although, I think actual nominations put Hobo and myself in a tie situation, and if Hobo wants to run the next one, it is okay by me. My competitions tend to crash and burn, badly! If not, I'll try to come up with something, soon.

Snarky made a beautiful background, but the fun-factor in HanaIndiana's won me over. HanaIndiana.

Take out the spaces before and after the "img" tags. I did the same thing first time I tried to link one into the forum.

I'm stuck far too early on in this game.

On the shore of the Thames having just found out I'm contaminated...

Spoiler
I have a piece of coal and the vial of glitter and the press cutting about the rock. I guess I need to make a fake piece of meteorite to get the policeman to go so I can get through the barrier, but combining the glitter and the coal doesn't seem to work and I can't work out what else I need to do...

Hints or outright solution welcome!

If it makes you feel better, you are not alone.  ;-)  I am standing right beside you.

@ Cassiebsg and Problem - I was just playing with the shadows. I've only recently began experimenting with the lighting in Anim8or's Scene editor, and this fit in nicely with that. I had nothing major in mind, just a passing thought.

@ Problem - Your model continues to stand me in good stead.  ;)  The Anim8or Forum is very active, lately. The creator of the program retired from his full time job and is pushing out updates on a regular basis. There also seems to be around three forum regulars who are cranking out Anim8or scripts to add features. They keep talking about keyboard shortcuts to implement this or that new feature. It has me worried. It's sounding an awful lot like Blender.  (roll)

ayyyyy.

yep, still my favorite thread on the internet

Ponch's response gives me a green light for more stuff. Thepeacefulman's post got me thinking about shadows as something that gets lost using 3D models in 2D games. Thought about it and came up with this:

I put down a magenta cube, dinked with some of the settings, played with the light quite a bit. It looks "okay" in a default AGS game:

[imgzoom]http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o756/jwalt10705/shadowPonch1_zps162fc0d8.png[/imgzoom]

Obviously, the shadows won't bend around objects, and similar shadows are possible in 2D. It may not be worth the effort, and Anim8or's ray tracr, with shadows enabled, tends to darken everything down. Nor is magenta the best transparent color, but that's what I used here.

T Think those 3d pictures will be good to use in games.

I'm troubled by the question and risk Snarky's wrath for another post to make additional comments. That, and a chance to poke more fun at Ponch's avatar.

There are a number of 3D plugins for AGS, some of which I've played around with. Regarding 3D elements, once converted to images, they will insert in games. For example:

[imgzoom]http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o756/jwalt10705/scidsAlley1_zpse0f29470.png[/imgzoom]

I took my model -- well, it's actually a knock off of Problem's model -- and rendered a small image, which I then put, unretouched, into a default AGS game. Allowing for the gray cow in front of a gray wall, you be the judge of whether or not the cow would work in the scene. The background and bum character are RON 2D assets.

This response should also enlighten Ponch as to what happens when one refuses to take off ones tuxedo.
