Ow I see you changed the sprite while I was doing an edit...but I see my edit is still appropriate...

There....He looked like he desperatly had to visit the toilet...or he would crap his pants...his pose looked kinda unnatural...tried to fix that...
but still...Love this sprite...

Yeah Rince you can start a new one...congrats.
Sorry for not closing this friday...::)

Well I think it's time to start voting...again two entries this week...At least extending it for a few days gave us an extra entry...so there's some competitions after all...;))

I vote Rincewind for his kickass animated entry!

Controling the spaceship was not that bad...Though I think as you turn off an engine the ship shouldn't loose all it's velocity instantly....just bring it down slowly...
As for the second part...just as stuh I had no clue on what to do...well you said the purpose is to set up a parallel and a serial configuration...but most things I tried didn't seem to work...the wires and resistors that did fit in place on the board seemed totaly random to me...(but that could just be me )...after randomly clicking around for like 5 minutes I got agitated and pressed the quit button... ???
so yeah like stuh said...give some clues on what to do...(That german that's actualy dutch didn't help me out either)....

- Some part do look blurred (could be compression) like the shoulder, hands and feet....
- His rope belt is to pixelated...I'd go for a antialiased brush for that...same goes for his beard and haircut...they stand out to much now...
- If he's supposed to be a funny kind of guy...keep that walk...It realy made me laugh...in a possitive way...realy adds character...I'd love to see the complete cycle...

The last two steps (according to the progress thingy) seem to kill all the nice details you've added...I think the opposite aproach is better...make the image so that colors, tone and darkness are correct, keeping in mind that it will be set at night. Now instead of darkening everything except the area where the lightsource is casting it's light...Lighten those areas up...
The colors just don't seem right for a nightscene...The buildings look as they would look during the day only with a nightly sky in the back...
Still, I think it's a pretty good b/g but it could be better...I liked it better before you darkened everything up...

Hopes this helps...

I made another, more complete piece, last night...

I'm aware it has a few problems though...serious C+C appreciated...

edit:

Thanx Stuh...yeah the harsh crit is good...I think you're right on the points you made...I couldn't get any of right by tweaking it..I tried to get this whole light issue right in PS but no succes on that....Also I used loads of different references for it which, didn't seem to fit together...I had difficulties putting them together as one piece...I'm going to work on that for sure...
thanx for pointing it all to me...

Darth's idea is not that bad...let's extend this blitz for a few more days...so that rincewinds effort hasn't been for nothing and everyone who couldn't finish their b/g in time can still compete....Let's say we'll extend it till friday...
Sorry if I sounded aggitated...I wasn't, really...just hoped to see some kickass entries...

Cheers!

Hey Synthetique, Realy good sprite...I did a quick edit :

- Added some Highlight on top of her hair.
- Made here buttocks more present.
- Turned up the contrast (Maybe to much...but I like to     overdo on contrast).

Hope this helps

I've been told it would have only infected your pc if you played the copied version on the 1st of april...

I considered making a game based on a lovercraft story called...not sure what the english title is..."the tomb" or "the crypt" or something...It's about this gravedigger who gets trapped in a gravetomb...after he manages to escape the tomb a creepy plot is unraveled...I tried to write 2 different scripts for this but never got to the point where I was satisfied..even made some conceptart...never felt it was nearly as good as lovecrafts shortstory...It's damn hard to transform a tallented writers story into a gamescript....my script lost all the suspense....so I dropped it...

hmm yeah I still do that...But since I spent way to much behind the comps..I sometimes get this soar feeling in my arms, wrist shoulders etc...who some call RSI...so I end up doing these laughable exercises...Now with the wacom that could be prevented...more as an unforseen circumstance....so I try to avoid the mouse now.

awesome? better than sex...

I second that...best purchase I did in ages...best gadget on my comp...beats the readon 9800 I bought a while back...but then again who needs a 9800 playing crappy adventures...;))
Though I still find it quite tedious to control windows with the wacom...so provided that you do lots of drawing ya can't go wrong on a wacom...

Thanx mr C and Stuh...realy appreciate this kind of comment...
I used a somewhat darker, less satured variant of the main skin tone for the shadows..pretty good point..It probably creates more depth if I used more colors for the shading...for now I'm a bit stuck on that though...I'm not going to trow in random colors...without actualy knowing what i'm doing...but since most refs I used were black and white that could be the issue...or maybe I should do a bit more reading on that specific subject...
I gues your right on the yellow skin tone...I went mad with the yellow paint ;) I guess the lightsources in the background didn't turn out like I had in mind...a balance between your edit an mine would probably look better idd...Having read that you finished Art school and your comment seems appropriate I eagerly receive yur comment...
Since it's not the result but the technique i'm going for I refuse to use PS for the lightning effects..;)) I made the mistake of dropping resaturation to much on her cheeks...sow it turned out to green...
well anywayz...I'm off, back to the drawing board...

Cheers!
