That's a great piece. The lines are excellent but you could probably improve on the coloring...maybe use more pressure to get more defined colors (or lower the pressure sensitivity)...so you get a bit more contrast...I Agree with andail on the background....Other than that good job!

agree with mods....Take some 'simple nudes' as ref instead of porn...as for the pic...not bad...Not to keen on the head though...probably b/c her chin looks asif smacked with a hammer from the right...her right hand looks strange aswell...

I'll just keep this thread running for a while if no one objects...I worked on another study of the female body this night ;) Considered some critic on the previous 2....

#3

Tried to focus mainly on the highlights on this one...aiming for a more dramaticaly use of shadow/highlights...I think it finaly could have used a bit more contrast...?
ow and I kept track of the progress on this one for those who might be interrested...

progress

I was going to add comments but got lazy...I might add it later...

Cheers!

could be an interresting style you're heading to here...I like the idea of hand drawn combined with rendered parts...but as penquinX stated...it's not very convicing yet...I'd suggest using at least an antialiased brush for the objects you draw in yourself...For example those cracks look to pixelated to go along well with the crisp rendered look...Also be sure to add some light/shade to those handrawn parts...and maybe try to avoid common 3d objects such as the half donut that don't seem to represent anything significant (I could be wrong here)...

Cheers!

PenguinX : I bought the Wacom Intuos 2 A4(9X12) regular...which is already quite big...at least big enough...If you are willing to invest in one I'd realy recommend that size...Though I haven't tried the other sizes I think A3(12X18) would be overkill....and A5(6X8) , if you mostly use it for graphics, is a tad small...but probably just about enough...
I must say I'm extremely contented with my purchase...And if you do a lot of digital art it's defenitely a must have...though doing pixel art still feels a bit uneasy/strange...but that could just be me...

Maybe the light looks weird cause I had to improvise on the coloring since I used a black/white reference photo for that one...As for the foot looking flat..I tried to dislocate the focus from the hands and feet and place it on the middle parts of the body...maybe I failed in doing that...
Anyways...thanx for the comments...

good character design!
some points of critique though:
- in the second frame after her head swings away from the 'camera' she drops back...which seems wrong...
- some frames are blurry while others are sharp...
- The animation doesn't seem fluid...but maybe that's just the low animation speed...?
- her head sway is to abruptly to my likings...

I'm diggin this one...agree on what's been stated above...but can I ask what it will be used for ?

I feel that the critics lounge is a pretty good forum as it is at the moment...Though I agree in some way with LGM...but on the other hand most posts seem to bleed to death as soon all the possible critique has been given and the pieces on which obviously lots of effort is put into seem to get all the attention they deserve...I myself tend to post more C&C than actualy posting a piece myself while others seem to do the opposite and post 3 rushed pieces in a few days....so as far as that goes it surely would be a good idea to split it up...or have more strict rules maybe ?
Just some thoughts...

edit:

I, personally, am not sure how I would fit in if the forums were split. I am not currently working on a game, but rather am working on the skills I would use in making a game.

Same here...not working on a game at the moment but feel C&C on my practicing is very usefull

Cheers!

I finaly decided to get myself a wacom...since I spend alot of time painting and drawing (digitally and on paper aswell). Equiped with painter8 and the wacom I feel the digital result comes much closer as to how it would look in the old fashioned way...Here are 2 paintings I worked on last night and the night before:

#1
#2

I know they're extremely huge...so I posted the links....
Some C+C is appreciated....Also any other people here who use painter8 and a tablet ? Maybe they can share some of their works here....I'm more than willing to see what people are capable of using it....

Cheers!

hmmm...I was going for a long story but when I hit the post button my session seemed to be expired....anyways I was trying to say I liked the older version much more...the one with the brownish sand...I feel the sun draws attention to a complete irrelevant spot and the yellow sand just doesnt look as good as the brown sand...If I were you I'd fiddle around with that version...it's a pretty good b/g...

Hey that's a great entry rincewind...can't remember that scene though..it's been ages ago since I finished that game...To bad I couldn't find a screenshot of it....maybe anyone can capture it...I'd love to see the original...
#75
I like #8 most...though #7 has better coloring...but since it's still in concept phase...I'd say go for #8....though I feel the big red eyes are a bit overdone....apart from that...pretty good concept sketches!

Okay I was browsing the blitz inspiration topic to come up with an idea when I came across this guy (hmm not sure what his name was) who suggested to do a "your favourite monkey Island scene" blitz...pretty cool idea if you'd ask me...I thought it would be even more cool if we'd do a
"Your favourite scene from your favourite adventure in your own style" blitz....
Which means that if Hugo's House of Horrors happens to be your favourite adventure and you accidentally happen to have the exact same drawing style choose your second favourite adventure game ;) This doesn't necessarily has to be a commercial game...but just name the game and scene you refered to...Also it would be cool to paste a link to the original screenshot (not necessary though)...
Okay since this blitz has a pretty flexible theme let's not get to strict on the rules as well. Just stick with 320*240 or 320*200 @ as much colors a you prefer...
Well I guess that's about it...rest me to wish you happy blitzing.

Cheers !

I think I remember seeing darths farm b/g in a blitz way back...if i'm not mistaken the theme was draw whatever you see when ya look out of your window...I could be wrong though.
