no offence intended...just correcting some words you brought as facts...I find it sad aswell that ppl tend to visit holland just for the hashbars...ofcourse its totaly understandable that people do visit a hashbar once in holland ( and they should...since it's kinda becoming dutch culture) just as sightseeing windmills, tulips and such...

EDIT:

We can't even blame on them, they're just young people having a good time, it can probably be the most savage expierence they'll have in their whole year, let's them enjoy it

Totaly agree on that one......And I couldn't disapprove on it cause I tend to do the same thing when I'm in a foreign city...though I like to visit the countryside aswell...
And yeah in some way it is destructive but isn't that the case with most good things in life..apart from having sex ;)

to farlander:

1 Pot is not legal in Amsterdam...they tolerate it which is different..
2 They have the same policy in other countries in europe ( Belgium,   switserland) maybe a bit more strict than holland but still...
3 It's obvious you've never been in amsterdam...calling it a cave full of whores and yonkies...

I'm not really sure if it's what you are looking for, but here are 2 links, for over thousand of brushes :

http://www.cybia.co.uk/brushes.htm

http://www.freephotoshop.com/html/free_brushes.html

hmm most of those brushes rather seem like textures than brushes to me ;) they're not what I'm looking for...
thanx anyway minimi...
It'd be probably a plugin instead of a brushset what i'm looking for since all those ps brushes seem to have the same 'phsysics'...

it's also a good idea to do those major lightfx, like the lightbeams coming through the window, at the end when all the objects and details are in place..so you don't have to draw those light effects on the objects self on which the light shines. Make a new layer on top after wards and add the cool lightfx...since the lightbeams might look different if certain objects are blocking its way...

hope this helps...

General Discussion / Real Photoshop brushes

Couldn't find a topic on this subject on the forums yet....What I'm looking for is a set of brushes for photoshop that feel like real brushes...A brush that actualy looses it's paint (could go for the fade brush setting, but still it's different)...and kind of reacts to the paint allready present on the layer like real paint would do...I remember using this app. called Satori someting (think it was called film fx, though it had nothing to do with film ) a while ago which had great brush 'physics' simulation...It realy felt as if you were painting on a canvas with oil paint, but apart from the brushes it sucked...Maybe there's a way to archieve this in photoshop aswell by tweaking your brushes...I spend quite some time on this but no way I could get close to the desired result...Though getting a waterpaint look is no problem....
I hope it's kinda clear what i'm aiming at...maybe people could post some cool brush settings they use alot and have that feel to em that I was trying to describe...

Cheers!

I prefer the left for sure....

This is a marvelous background...nice style...I'd say theres nothing wrong with the colors...fits with the style nicely...only suggestion I have is to get rid of the straight line on the left side of the wall...here's a suggestion :

I just let the stones bulge out a bit instead of just ending in that straight line...looks better to me....

Hope this helps....

Get rid of the sun...a sun in a background never seems to work out (at least to me) and what happened to the horizon ? anyways I did a real quick edit to point out what could add to the quality of the background in my opinion

I balanced the reds up a bit (alot)...I felt it was a bit to blueish...

Hope this helps a bit...

cheers!

I like this b/g alot...I'd say give the floor a bit more structure (since it's just plain green now) and it's perfect! OSC's edit is good not better necessarily...to my oppinion the black outlines fit well in your style...

Cheers

That avatar is 'An Armpitreeker'...pretty annoying person...once he found your armpits and he likes 'em...you'll never get rid of him...You're stuck with him for the rest of ur life...matter of fact he's standing next to me right this moment...saying : "come on, let me smell"

Excellent game !
Although I think there's maybe a bit too much pace in it for such an epic story...felt like I could just click my way to the end scene...but apart from that I enjoyed this game big time...really proffesional feel to it! Looking forward to the sequel...

I'm convinced the best way to mimic or even just to learn from a style is to study the specific backgrounds thoroughly...Carefully examine how sudden techniques or effects are accomplished...
