Yeh, I mean it's all well and good poking your nipples for comfort, but if nipples didn't exist then the people who do it would be considered slightly eccentric, to say the least.

[edit]
You've got to laugh really haven't you..

Well, for the first part, people without nipples who play with their nipples are some of the most intelligent people I've ever met! Now, Ive never seen these smart people play with their nipples in their spare time, but I really bet they do! Seriously though, the whole over-the-top nipple thing is just a metaphor, an example of sorts, for what people do to find comfort in life. Brushing your teeth might give you comfort. Watching TV might calm you down. It doesn't matter - the concept is that people need beliefs independent of the verity of said beliefs.

I'm at a loss as to what you mean by the edit, though

Gil: I put in the Vista Compatablility thread that it works!

I also checked out the beta. The start-up graphic looks tres bien, and the interface seems soooo much easier to work with. The layout is more like Visual Studio, so I'm basically far more used to that. I'll make sure to give it a good run-through and see if it's stable enough to start developing ShipLife: Episode One on. If I run into any problems with it, I'll let you fellas know about in the most bitchy, moany way possible, alright? alright!

But did you follow my advice in the other thread to try test it windowerd or at 640x400? That'll probably work.

Yes! It works perfectly. I'll try running it outside of windowed mode (just 640x400) to see if that works, but it seems to be running smoothly. Thanks a lot, robot-based chum!

I agree with lo_res_man here.

Im my opinion, a belief is something that gets you through the day. If God(s) is/are something that give(s) you relief, then whether god(s) is/are real or not becomes irrelivant. It's like a guy/girl who pokes his/her nipples with a pencil when he/she becomes a depressed person/horny lesbian.

- If the dude loses his girlfriend, he pokes his nipples
- If the dude is lit on fire, or is fired from work, he pokes his nipples
- If the dude gets abandoned by his family, his friends, and his loyal dog, he pokes his nipples

It doesn't really matter if poking your nipples gets you through the day; the concept of whether it's feasible or not is unimportant, what matters is if the concept means anything to oneself. Other people might agree with nipple-prodding; a rare few might even be moderately offended with giving their udders a quick tug, but even those people have some unorthodox ways of getting through the day that they believe is a normal occurence to them. But in any case, the system works for everyone in it's own way, so I find arguing about the existance of a god to be an endless endeavor, not one to be partaken in by a machine such as myself.

There is also the argument of defining 'good' and 'evil.' Are all things really good? Are people we see as evil truly evil, or do they deserve a chance? (unlike most of the stuff I say, the following sentence is not a joke) A black kid named Frank beat me up and exposed my dick in public in the 1st grade over... get this... a torn calandar - easily reprintable, easily repairable. Do you think I have a vendetta against that kid? No, he was probably abused by his parents. So was the famed serial killer Iceman. No one is truly evil to the core. And who says good people are so good? How do you know they aren't truly doing evil deeds - that compassion isn't an evil deed - when the majority of the world seems willing to believe in blind faith? What if 'good' was actually 'evil' and we didn't know it - feeding the starving means less food for us, giving birth (a sacred ritual of sorts) leads to overpopulation, etc. Not all good is good and not all evil is bad.

Still, in any case, there is no god. Sorry christians  :(.

There actually probably are new drivers, but ATI is being a bit of a bitch. See, they don't allow updated driver downloads for labtops (Mobile Radeon is their chip brand), and that forces me to go back to my original manufacturer (HP) for updated drivers. However, HP isn't very good at delivering drivers made by other companies to the consumer. In fact, I can't even find a new driver for my graphics card online, so I'm stuck with a driver install that was updated way back in early August of 2006. I don't even think Vista was commercially available then, although I haven't really been keeping tabs. Therefore, put 1-and-1 together, and you get 'my drivers aren't even meant to be used in Vista!

I can still use AGSEdit, but the lack of a test ability and executable running means 1) Debugging is nigh on ipossible and 2) I can't draw inspiration from fellow AGS projects if I can't play them.

Hints & Tips / Re: The Great Casserole Caper

hmm... I should've tied in the toilet paper to one's accessability through the sliding glass door, not the extention cord. God damn it, I really need to get AGS 2.72 working so I can fix up these stupid bugs and actually get a compiled installer going instead of some silly zip files.

Don't worry, people! nick.keane will come through - just keep listing all your bug finds.

Vista works fine, and better than XP in most cases.

I agree with pcj. Vista has worked cleanly for me. In fact, I was able to install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 on my comp cleanly on Vista, whereas on XP the installer would always freeze up (important b/c I need that software for my C++ programming classes).

However, big however, AGS has been giving me turds and gravy ever since I upgraded to Vista. For some reason, I can't run an AGS game in Vista, which seems to be attributed to the lack of 320 x 200 support, I guess, because that's the kind of error I get when I try to run Casserole Caper (a 320 x 200) game in Vista. I tried updating my graphics card, but that didn't help much. Not sure what to do. Need help. Send biscuits.
!
EDIT: Sorry, I just realized this particular thread was a little outdated! Blame Gilbot!  :P

I mean, I can get AGSEdit to run perfectly fine (the stable version, I mean. I'm going to see if I can try to get the beta version to run on here right now.) The thing is when I try to run a game executable (like TGCC, for example. I want to check it for bugs) or test a game, the engine crashes, saying that my laptop cannot support 320 x 200 graphics settings (and it's fairly unclear as to why). I've tried updating my graphics card, but that didn't help, so I'm assuming that it's a Vista issue (like maybe Vista Home Premium not reading the drivers right, but I'm not sure). My cousin pamela says she can get the executables to work in Vista Business edition, but I can't really say if just having the added fuctionality of Business is what causes the executables to work. Or she's lying.  :-\ I really do not know.

I can always just try re-installing said graphics drivers, but I still seriously doubt reinstalling the software will work. At the very least, I can still make games, but my ability to debug erroneous code will be seriously hampered until I can solve this problem.

But yeah, thanks for the thread! I'll check it out to see of anyone in there has found a solution to this.

Chris Jones, you never cease to amaze me! Now I can make a character that runs an animation that goes on forever... and ever... and ever.

You are truly awesome.
I'll give it a test drive right now. btw, this version is going to be fully compatable with vista right? Last time I tried to get AGS 2.72 (compiled executables, not the editor, AGSEdit) to function, I couldn't get it to work. My cousin can got the executable to work on Windows Vista Business, so I think it's just my graphics card. Of course, it could also be that home premium is a piece of shit! Meh, i'll figure out something.

I can't even imagine what v3.0 is going to look like when ya get there. kudos!

Also, make sure that the size you're checking is the sum of the 'Compiled' folder, because that folder is all that's required to run the game (not edit it, though). If the size you mentioned refers to the entire game directory, and you want to shrink that, try exporting all of your images as .png files.

And like Ashen said, zip it. My latest game TGCC is normally around 10 MB, but the zip file cuts it down to 3.2 MB - less than half the size of the original 'Compiled' folder alone!

Honestly, I think the sky above you is a hologram created by the government to cover two things:
1) The moon has been destroyed.
2) The Earth is surrounded by innumerable alien battlecruisers who don't know that we exist, and if we were to be revealed, even for a fraction of a second, we would be instantaneously vaporized by hundreds of thousands of laser beams and explosives.

Please, everyone, just trust the government like you trust my avatar.

"I gotz me a jobs to do, and I'm a gonna see it through"

lol - this truly is over the top!

My brother just got Resident Evil 4 for the Wii (we already played it on the PS2 and beat it, so I'm not sure why he got the Wii version), and I've never read an article complaining about Leon killing hordes of psycho mexicans (probably psycho due to horrible immigration laws, no doubt) as being in any way racist! Jesus christ, black people are crazy!

Actually, I suppose I'm more buddhist than atheist, because I do tend to believe in myself, and promote the belief's of self in others.

"Riddle me this, batman!" If all the matter and life in the universe came from god(s)/martha stewart, then where did such (a) god(s) come from?

As a strapping, single young atheist, I theorize that there is no devine proof of, well, devinity! And if there is, well...then

...damnit.

Hey man, play Vacation Quest. First game I made, and I tried to make it suck. While accept that it has clearly failed in being more of a failure than your crappy game, I do ask that you give it a look, to see what crappy games were like in 2003. kudos to you, friend!

awesome, now we don't have to worry so much about compatability!
Woud be nice to have an auto install package for it though :( I'll see if I can find such a service

Pamela, I didn't tell you to put up a wanted ad. I told you to plan for an ad. Didn't you read the chart I gave you? Delete this thing.
