I have no idea what I am suppose to do with that guitar guy in the cave inside waterfall.

Has anyone hints or walktrough you could share here?

I'm pretty sure that the guitar guy
Spoiler
has no function or use. He's just there. At least I never did anything with him.

By the way, can anyone tell me how the Spencer family puzzle was supposed to be done? I never had do to it as I ran into a bug that allows you to walk right through the solid closed gate without having proved you're a Spencer.
Spoiler
I think you only have exit and reenter the screen after talking to the pumpkins to trigger it. I know the puzzle has to do with the family crypt but where's the key?

A post in the Hints and Tips forum just reminded me of a bug I ran into in this game that you may want to know about.

Spoiler
It's possible to talk to the Professor after he's left the beach but before he enters the house.  If you do, he says not to talk to him until he gets to his house -- but he stops moving, so he never gets to his house where you can talk to him.  As far as I know, this makes the game unwinnable; when this happened to me, I restored a game from before I talked to him.

Didn't mention this before because I'd honestly forgotten about it; like I said, I was just reminded of it by a post in the Hints and Tips forum.

I've run into a similar version of this bug, where

Spoiler
although I made sure not to talk to the professor while he was walking to his house- because I read about the bug in the Hints and Tips thread- and followed the professor all the way to his house, The professor stop walking when he is almost all the way in door (you can see and interact with the back of his head) and talking to him result in a "not now" dialogue. The professor never appears inside the house itself and this brings my game to a standstill. unfortunately my last save was before I got to the master's grave, so I have some repeating to do.
[close]

I also found two other glitches:

The first
Spoiler
happens in the house where you get the tape from the mermaid poster. I walked behind the silhouette of the lamp in the foreground, and Jimmy promptly got stuck. I was unable to walk anymore and I had to load an old save.
[close]

The second
Spoiler
happens at the gate to the grave in the forest where the jack o' lanterns (pumpkins) are guarding the gate. Seeing as the pumpkins go on and on about having to prove you are a member of the Spencer family in order to pass and attempting to interact with the gate prompts Jimmy to say it is solid and the pumpkins repeat the Spencer thing, this causes me to believe that there is a puzzle you have to solve in order to get past the gate. However, when I was puzzling over this, I happened to click behind the gate, inside the graveyard area. Imagine my surprise when I suddenly walked right through the supposedly solid gate and was able to walk to the next scene! I'm pretty sure I managed to skip a puzzle here as  am positive I never proved I was a Spencer yet I was able to pass through the solid gate.

The bug I fixed in this update actually doesn't stop you from progressing, it just...solves you a puzzle too early.
:P

Is that the bug where if:
Spoiler
you use the battery on Crystal's phone before you got Grant's phone, it'll still let you see and interact with both phones?

I got that bug. I didn't really even realize it until I got Grant's phone from his friend and suddenly realized I had already looked through his phone and compared it to Crystal's.

@piperhcombs:

Spoiler
the bookshelf is a hint to another puzzle, the one to get the password to the quarters room with the locked door. The open-the-safe puzzle does not have a clue hidden in the game. And to find the safe you need a card and use it somewhere.
[close]

Alright, now that I realize my initial gut instinct about he safe code was correct, I still can't figure out the correct sequence. Can anyone help me here? This is the last puzzle for me, I've already solved all the other puzzles-the safe is the only thing keeping me from finishing the game.  ::)

A good first game with colorful pleasing graphics and logical puzzles.

However I have one nitpick. There is a significant lack of interaction dialogue (character's reaction to player clicking on a hotspot with look/use etc.) This make it so that the player may easily miss a key hotspot necessary for progress. For example,
Spoiler
I didn't realize there was a button thing on the computer to open the door because the character had no reaction to me looking at or attempting to use anything on the compute once it was plugged in. There should be some interaction dialogue with either look or use here- eg. the character mentions that there is a button/sensor on the controls that might be useful or something. I didn't find that button until I got desperate enough to start wildly clicking an inventory item all over the computer.
[close]
Generally, if you don't have the character have at least one reaction to each hotspot- even just a "hmmm."  or something so we know it's there, then you have that thing were the name of the hotspot (item/person/thing etc.) shows up at the top/bottom of the screen, or the cursor simply lights up/changes or animates when the mouse hovers over it.

i'm stuck in the computer room,i got the pc working and used laser to get the click.i start to walk back to the steel door and it clicks agin.go back to pc and plug is out,try to tape it to socket ,it dosen't work.what do i do now?

Yeah this one's hard to figure out only because the maker of the game for some reason didn't put any interaction dialogue (look/use) on a key hotspot on the computer. I didn't find it until I got desperate enough to start clicking like mad with random inventory items all over the computer thing. It has nothing to do with the outlet/plug although it does seem like it seeing as the maker of the game decided to have the computer unplug itself every time you walk off that screen.
Spoiler
Use the laser pointer on the button thing on the left side of the computer. Your character will comment that he heard something open, but as soon as he steps away, the thing (door) closes again. Know what to do?

Use the tape on the laser pointer and then use the taped laser pointer on the button. Voila!

Anyone get out of the final room yet?

I still can't figure out the password to the safe.
Spoiler
I've studied the bookshelf to death and tried every possible combination I could get from the bookshelf. I must be missing something. I can usually figure out these bookshelf code/sequence/password things by myself and usually fairly quickly but this one's just not coming to me.

I have just downloaded your game; however I've encountered a technical issue. It seems that you have optimized your games to run with the Direct3D graphics driver, and as the PC I'm trying to play it on doesn't have it installed, I switched over to DirectDraw. This usually isn't an issue with other games. However when I launch your game the game window is all greyed out like the contrast is off or like I'm viewing it through fog. It's the same all the way through the title screen, cutscene and gameplay. I'm pretty sure that's not how its supposed to looks because the screenshot above is completely clear. I tried a different AGS game and it was perfectly fine. Any idea why this would happen?

Hints & Tips / Re: A Tale Of Two Kingdoms
Wed 17/06/2009 14:14:15
I'm sure someone has already realized this, but I found out that
Spoiler
if you never picked up the matches, whether because you completely forgot, or if like me by the time you got to it you couldn't get them because either a)the jeweler was not in her shop to kick you out so the only way out is the water which ruins the matches, or b)the shop was closed; when you get to the cave sequence, Taliesin actually hands Branwyn a pack of matches saying you'll probably need illumination. Not sure about the lantern as I did pick that up.

Three golden rules:
1. Is your post interesting, helpful or funny? If not, don't post it.
2. Post in a mature manner. Remember, the minimum age here is 16 - if you're unable to act that age, don't post.
3. If you're not a moderator, don't pretend to be one. If a thread needs to be moved or locked, the moderators will deal with it.

What's wrong with just mentioning a thread is in the wrong forum? He was just observing that it was in the wrong place, not trying to berate/scold the poster or anything? He didn't break that rule. Where are these rules posted anyway?

Also, you're kinda playing at being a moderator yourself, with your quoting and/or writing of these rules which makes it seem like you're reprimanding the poster.

Where is the code for the computer? I've tried entering any numbers I've found and even using the hands on the clock but to no effect.

You're on the right track.
Spoiler
Look at the clock again- note where the hands are (and the fact that there are symbols instead of numbers.

Take a good a look at the desktop background on the computer (the picture on the screen).

Notice the symbols?

a few posts up and I think one page back as well. However, the answer/hints given are a little vague, so I'll repost.

Spoiler
There's one robot that can get the job. That robot is one willing to use his ability from inside the mug.

One last hint: what kind of air rises?

Make sure everyone's in the mug before you do anything.

@Alarconte: Perhaps you should read over the last two pages of posts....I've already covered your problems:

From the Hints and Tips Forum:
Making the second potion: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=34949.msg457530#msg457530
and the two following posts.
Also, there is a glitch concerning how you make the first potion- you can actually mix double the amount of purple incensium needed and still get the mixture to work. Because of this glitch, those people who made a simple computing logic error (as explained in my post above) carry the same error over into the second potion and thus run into a problem.

Not being able to start over if you mess up the second potion:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=34949.msg457569#msg457569
followed by:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=34949.msg457571#msg457571

Also, both of your problems combined in one post (still from me) on the Completed Games forum thread: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=34941.msg457934#msg457934
