General Discussion / Re: Russia and Georgia.
Sun 10/08/2008 19:39:56
South Ossetia is Georgias land. There are mostly Russian people there, and lots of immigrants. If those people want to go to Russia, then they should go, and leave the land for Georgia, because they don't belong there in the first place.

Russia is so lazy, its got a huge land, but all of it is rotting. it has always jerked off on others recourses and work. They act like wherever Russian goes, its now his land.

However, this doesn't go to all the russians out there. Some of my very good friends are russians, and they seem to be understanding people.

I believe US does not want to go into this. Its definately not itching to be in war with Russia, otherwise it would be WW III too. The reason behind is that USA is still itching for Iran, and Russia is supposed to support them. USA is playing the double game, most sleaziest of them all. Only thing USA is concerned about is that Georgia was the strongest point of force and democracy in Russian border and a very valuable segment for future western politics with Russia.
Also, as georgia is quite strong, there might be other attacks too, if Russia wins. Then the line of former SU countries have been weakened. Basically it has been stated that every country who has Russians in it, should fear, because basically that was Putins statement.

General Discussion / Russia and Georgia.
Sat 09/08/2008 20:04:48
Why hasn't anyone started a topic on this yet?

I just saw the clips in the news and it really saddened me to see all those peoples homes destructed. Damn sleazy Russia!

Clearly pre-planned course of events. Now its not only the matter of South-Ossetia, bombs are spreading forward. It is expected that Tibilsi will fall under attack soon. However, I am glad to hear that Georgian Army has started a good strikeback. If it were only in my power to help Georgia..

RussiaToday:
"The fighting in South Osstian capital, Tskhinvali, is continuing with Georgian troops once again entering the city. There are reports that Georgian Special Forces have been throwing grenades into basements where women and children are sheltering." Someting tells me not to absolutely believe this.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Is it finished?

Its defo not finished. The first thing that strikes me is the sunrays and lack of highlights. there are no highlights at all, in fact... Just look at where the rays are going and add sharp highlights to these places, right now it looks dull and lacks point of interest.

For the love of the gods, use .png
Seriously. Trying to post .bmp files will have dire (diiiiiiire) consequences, and most of the time, .jpg will make a sloppy mess out of your art.

Just for reminder. PNG is only good for final conversion. Don't save your wips in PNG, various programs tend to mess it up sometimes, I have had experience it going darker after too many oversaves. I make all my wips in bmp and I just don't care about your slow connection.

Final product is what matters.

My tip:

Don't cramp yourself too many different projects, wether AGS or not.
It is most likely they will begin to interfere with each other and take your time away, you lose motivation. It is also important to have some rest time when working on a project.

One question: Why my "That are not aliens, I am correct" is "more arrogant" than the "That are aliens spacecrafts, I am correct" than the believers claim?

Does it really matter?

The stepping back part applies to all sides, as long as I am concerned. But why grab on to that aspect at all? Its waste of energy. Searching for direct information is more productive in this matter. You simply take what you have and don't have and compare, some 3'rd party acts, be them from believers or non believers, are not important.
Its funny how most of the threads turn into personal arguments and in the end its all about proving who is smarter, who is right and who is wrong in the sence that the actual topic subject isn't on the front line anymore.

I never claimed to have Vista. I use XP. I know Paints in Vista and XP are a bit different, thats why I ask.

And, I should have Graphics Gale here somewhere, I even remember installing it.

But Isn't there a place in ImageReady where you could just turn off the stupid functions?

What?  I thought you were arguing on behalf of the claims he was making.

It's quite common in the "believers world". They come, arrogantly, claiming that "they know something that the rest of the world doesn't" (Which imply that they are smarter than the rest of the world, of course)

Then, what they believe is debunked by sensible people... They are proven that, they are not only smarter, but also sillier... They they step back and deny what they previously said. A classical movement.

I never claimed myself a believer ;) Thats something that you people said.
Actually I am very sceptic, friendly sceptic, I'd say. And I have absolutely no problem taking my claims back. And I didn't say any opinion about these videos, I just simply posted them. I just thought to spark some controversy or something. Its about information, not self promotion.

I also think that you people here need to calm down.

What do you know, now try with lots of colours and see if they remain clean. Black and white already are the primitives. And you wasted a lot of space there.
Do you use XP or Vista?

Yes, frame I meant.

It appears I do have to seek other programs... Oh well. I don't want my computer to be stuffed with all kinds of programs and logs of endless uninstalls. Fuck.

Unfreez seems to be great choice though, Thanks Lion! But As i do stuff in paint, I can't save files as GIF, and extra file saving is extra unnecessary work.

It appears that this Adair guy really seems to be fake. A compulsive lier perhaps? A trick to make money by selling his books and casually mentioning that he could make another rocket (needs funding $$).

Basically everything the guy says is uncheckable. 0 background.

General Discussion / Help with imageready!
Thu 07/08/2008 00:22:31
Hello!

I have a problem. This Adobes Imageready is driving me nuts! I know you can make some web pages with it, but I need it only for animation and PNG files with alpha-channel. It has so many unnecessary menus. But that isn't the main problem.

the thing is, i draw all my sprites with oldschool style, on a single sheet, using nothing more than MS Paint! So far it has worked great if I use single frames. I know the frames work as an animation, so don't argue. But now I am in a point i need to put this stuff into gif animation so I could get the right timing and a programmer could implement it into a game more easily. I use Imageready and this doesn't let me paste the sprites. Oh, well, it does, but when I have a layer selected and a layer selected, it automatically makes a new layer and pastes everything into all layers! I have about 100 of them, so manual editing is a no-no. Fuck. How can i paste things only there where I want them to? Grr. Fuck this shit, I am throwing my computer pout of the window right now!

Oh, I can't place the stuff because as I mentioned, I select, copy and paste it from a single sheet, I don't have the sprites as separate bmp files because saving them would be pointless extra work.

All this big program and nothing but time waste...

HELP?

The Rumpus Room / Re: The Game Idea Thread

I recently got an awesome game idea.

There is a boy who had a donut. Then the evil monster came and stole his donut. You have to get your donut back.

Did you watch all the Pts of David Adair? David Adair is actually a well known scientist.

If this stuff is boring to you, then there is no wonder you doesn't believe at all. Do you expect new War of the Worlds?

The second video was the famous Art Bell talkshow. Could be fake, yes.

Does AGS support Variable Bit Rate, such as for MP3? If it does, you get some converter like Razor Lame.

How old is old?

I also like the Platters, but I am not a fan. However, music from 20'th century middle era is very darn good, all that bossa, jazz and swing. I often browse all kinds of labels and sites that recover old music from old vinyls. I like The Jazztet, Golson, Goodmann, Raymond Scott with his experimental sounds. The list is big, actually, So its pointless to name anything. I also don't keep any favourites, i like what i like and i definately can't listen same stuff endlessly so that 'favourites' stuff is kind of meaningless.

I learned to draw because I wanted to make games. You can do the same. Its a 3 year progress though.
