Critics' Lounge / Re: Help with side view

I assume side view is only used with walking animation, and in that case it doesn't need to be perfect because it only flashes quickly when walk animation ends or starts. Just add a little curve to the brown line, and maybe reduce the thickness a bit.

Extremely dangerous jar of liquid mixture witch turns you into a zombie when made contact with your body.

It looks like a woman grown penis.

Aliens could not be humans, so they probably won't think like humans. Maybe evidence is there but is just ignored and therefore unseen. Maybe we are too stupid to understand their ways of communicating or maybe we are just not worth of communicating with them.

Aliens are on and IN the Moon! They don't have to travel lightyears. Moon anomalies have been viewed long before first manned space flight. You could even see blurred out areas of NASA photographs.

And space travel doesn't necessarily mean traveling lightyears, there could also be a time warp, bending space and time like Hiro Nakamura did.

I wonder why everyone seems to act like missionary, why not just let them believe what they want... You also may want to make a difference between reiligous people and religious fundamentalists. Reading the thread "Meaning of life" gives me impression that quite many atheists aren't quite exactly atheists at all.

Its idiots like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGMuIyBK5P4 who make religion look bad.

And KhrisMUC, yes, 500 million people share similar personality. But daily basis zodiac readings are just wrong. Peoples personality can only be calculated from exact birth time etc. Sodiac sign in general just shows a certain level, like activeness. So generalized daily fates are just wrong.

Good luck with finding a place though!

I don't quite believe in atheism. I myself am not atheist, but then again, I am not much of a religious person too, I don't follow some written manifest. Therefore, I quite cannot understand atheists, how can someone believe in nothing? I know some atheists who tend to believe in ghosts, now how can they be atheists because ghosts resemble some kind of afterlife? I believe that most people still believe in something, be it God or karma, in deep inside, they are just too buzy and happy to think about it. Take signs of zodiac for example, people are always interested what their sign is. And to be honest, by looking at people, it is quite easy to guess what zodiac sign they are and it somehow fits. Now tell me if it is pure science.

I saw some stuff about this a few weeks ago ... it was called 11:18 or something back then.  I can't really remember.
Its called as 1-18-08, and that is the date it launches :D

Here, I did an edit for you:

I only borrowed the colours from other characters. All it needed was some contrast in highlights. You may still want to make the face overall highlights shading a bit warmer.

Ah, the (in)famous ping-pong movie?

Watching now!

EDIT: Done. Admired camerawork and technique, but I was eventually bored as hell. Sorry.

I actually got the same feeling.

The main problem I see with it is that its not a film, its more like a book and someone is reading it. Basically, it suffers in the lack of visual actions.

Its not Godzilla, but it may be a remake of this.
However, it is also possible that it may have connections with Lost. Anyway, its known as "The Parasite"

When come to think about it... There are people who work in games industry, but they get stressed out too, still, somehow they finish it. Of course they have no much choice, they get paid for that and that is their living. You see, there always has to be some kind of reward that gets you off, once you lose it, you may get depressed.
Think of some reward you get when its done, some nice graphics to your portfolio? Get famous? Or, the most important of them all -- guts to finish something more, guts to step on depression and be a man who can take everything! Once you have set the reward, you can set the deadline which keeps you even more motivated because it works with the reward!

But if to talk about lack of motivation in work in progress stage, even when you have the guts, just play some good adventure games! Take some time with them. You get some good rest with them, and they give you ideas, motivation etc.
Remember, every person needs a rest after work. And while resting, rest like there is no project. Only thing to pay attention is to not let resting be your habit. Keep yourself still active while resting, especially with things that keep you motivated, play some games, go on a hike etc, the main thing is to not get louzy and scratch your belly all the day!

You know what else is good? Isolation. I mean isolation from all the things that may distract you. I remember I have done some of my best works when I was alone and bored as hell (I had no movies nor internets and it was damn cold outside!).

Ofcourse, there is always even one more option. Throw yourself off a cliff! After that, when you discover you didn't die, you swear to god you could have finished it!

Critics' Lounge / Re: Photographic Backgrounds
Sat 21/07/2007 00:16:17
Yes, indeed. The first bg in this thread works very well imho, I would use that one instead.
The thing with the fitting character is that it has shadow in this photograph and tonal value is similar to the value of the picture. So it gives the effect that the character is actually IN the picture, not floating on it.
So I hope you don't mind, I took a screenshot from one of your threads and modified it a bit.
Before:

After:

And

What I simply did was that I added some darker areas to the foreground to keep the composition balanced with the darker area further away, so that the viewers point is focused more to the center. I also added some shadows to the sprites.

So, instead of adding contrast and apllying filters, just take a basic brush, pick a darker colour FROM THE PICTURE and start painting with opacity. Use smooth eraser afterwards to clean the edges. Automatic functions will never do any good, manual works the best ;)

Note that the updates still aren't perfect, its mainly due because I think the characters sizes are not aligned to perspective and so they seem a bit big. You may also want to play around with the values more, just don't overwork it. Artists main skill is the ability to stop at the right time, you know. But you simply overdid the picture in this thread with the contrast, first one looked fine :)

Lol, that would be cool name for a TV show.
