Hmm, the melody is good, nice song. However, mastering needs work. Low and high sounds are too far apart, drums too sharp and a bit far away while bass guitar is too close. Do you have every instrument separately recorded or is the whole thing recorded together? I suggest you to put separate EQ for everyhting, especially bass.

General Discussion / Re: Thrill Rides

You are a brave person. I like to take risks and to be in dangerous situations, recently i have even gotten into some extreme sports, but I don't like the extremes where control is not dependent on me but on someones elses hand. This reminds me that a caroussel cought fire in local park recently. They couldn't turn it off, so people had to ride through fire several times, now that is awesome.

Well, some people enjoy the fools who get turned on by that.
Its because of supression, yes. if you look at todays world, you see that whole life is about competition, aim is to get into the "higher class". The thing about it is that every person does his own thing and there is a lack of social communication between people. When riding a bus, you see what I mean, people are just living in the shells. And because of all that, they have the need to stand out, to be better. Usually people make themselves smarter by bringing up the flaws of others, so they can feel secure because of keeping themselves out of the topic.

If all the game is planned out, then I am shure that a programmed base is better, you could do the gfx any time.
But if its a game thats story and presence is hardly dependent by graphics, or and idea started from a graphical idea, I find it better to do the gfx first.
As an artist, I always do at least half of the gfx first and then find someone who knows some programming.

Since this thread is here, I am not bothering to make another and ask my question right here too. How do you people actually plan the game?
I started writing the stuff down to a notebook and its a big mess now. I just can't keep things organized, every room is connected, has puzzles that connect everything else.. How should I organize it? I just can't write room by room, it just doesn't work.

General Discussion / Re: Church of Satan

In my school, there are some satanists too. I have never understood them. What they actually believe? They believe that Satan created the Earth or is satanism just a moral codec? Then whats whit the symbols?
I really want to know if those satanist take it seriously or is it just an ironic protest against chatolic church. If the last one, then most people are satanists... Only difference is that most of the people don't dress in black or something to show everybody what moral code they are following, they are just who they are.

True satanists burn churches and make sacrifices, like in Sweden!

Ehm, Ok, I subscribed and download some kind of plugin where I can play music. While installing it, it downloaded some winamp plugin too, does that mean i can listen with winamp and it logs all my tracks to the Internet??? While listening to winamp, there is no extra window or plugin running, everyhting is as it was before... So whats the deal, it works only via browser?

The reason why videos stay in Youtube is that the owners get free advertising (Like some funny Budwiser commercial etc... a new way of advertising)

But heck, if I ever hear a commercial advert on a streamed ambient & chill radio, I would be devastated and all my chill experience would be ruined. Music should be free! In Estonia, there are some famous artists whose tracks are all free (a good excuse to continue stealig samples) and most of the tracks are used in commercial advertising, now thats pervertion. But at least the artists don't complain about it, they get fame.

I think that it is time for you americans to start boicotting and sabotaging something.

General Discussion / Re: MMORPG

I once subscribed myself to Anarchy Online MMO, I played it only once. I am shure that AO and plenty of other MMOs are great but some people are just not the RPG type to do all kinds boring of level ups. Anarcy Online is officially based on monthly fee, but they do lots of discounts and give tons of free time. Probably you could play at least a year for free, or even more. One thing I like about this game, that its sci-fi based, thats the reason I decided to give it a try... (I don't usually bother with MMOs) But the bad news is, that AO is getting more fantasy-like... I guess its because of the lack of players.

Ok, I don't like those RPG level ups that are really boring in MMOs, but generally, most of the mmos turn into disgusting cheating pervertions anyway... There is always some bastard who tricks the physics of the engine or just cheats, I mean, look at ET, or Battelfield, these are not quite MMOs, but shure they are quite wasted now. (They were meant to be realistic war-simulations...) And quite possibly thats whats going to happen to FPS mmos also.

You know, I am into sci-fi, and I like sci-fi games, especially with strategical elements. You all played Half Life, right? Well, HL has a cool team based (with a leader) FPS mod with huge strategical elements called Natural Selection ( go look it up via google) and i was once a devoted fan to it, until the day when it gained more players and went mainstream. Now it is just more like people just jumping and shooting... So basically, I don't even care anymore about new online FPSes and MMOs because I know they are all going to be the same shit with a different tag.
And Caine already mentioned all the other stuff...

So, beacause of this, I have decided to try LARP, its too bad that we don't have much sci fi LARPs where I live, but what the heck... But then again, I think it is neccesary to mention that LARPs are getting wasted too, by newcomers. There are tons of cases where some pricks just play thieves and kill and rob everybody.

If it is made of metal, then it needs some shines, add some contrast highlights (only small ones, like 1 pixel lines)!

I run nod32, that does everything.
And besides, those updates, that windows offered werent directly related to security issues anyway.

Ok, I am not going to make a new thread about this. Lately I installed win xp and now it throws all kinds of messages to me, mainly that win updates are ready to install, I take tick off from all the new installable features and and set the update date to something far-far away... But nah, it doesn't help, next time I turn on my computer, same updates appear again. So I turn automatic updates off, and now there is that little x marked icon on the taskbar that pops up very often. Guess what, it is fuckin annoying, can I turn it off, can I??? And that is not all, every time I install something and start the program up, it asks me if I allow it or block it, well, I don't install programs I want to block... so basically I do not fuckin need this feature. Gosh. How???

Oh, now I managed to turn some of those off, good.

I support the idea with both hands! Ok, maybe ambient doesn't sell so well, but lets just call it chillout. Remember, original ambient music has zero beat anyway, so... A nice name would be "Adventure moods" or "Music for the adventurer".

And if selling doesn't work, we could put it on a freeware music netlabel which guarantees downloads and fame for the best musicians!
Some netlabels for free and commercial music:
REALAUDIO
PHONICA
OBSCURE
STADTGRUENEN
And one from my own homeland: KOHVIRECORDS

TOTAL LIST OF NETLABELS

And ofcopurse dmusic

Also: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/index.php
and: http://www.findsounds.com/types.html - which has some very crappy quality ofcourse...

And if you don't have a mic nor samplepacks, don't want to steal the sounds from games and previous sites don't provide you with neccesary samples, you could record and edit them from some movies. Add some noise filter and a small reverb and I bet no-one recognizes where these are from.

Ugh, its just a plain text on a black background, maybe add some more story-based graphics to that? Make the text glow, draw ann egg under it or whatever..

Hmm, usually stuff like this is copyrighted indeed. I doubt that you get any response from VALVE because its very obvious.. Did you read EULA, usually every copiright material is mentioned there, and if it isn't you are free to use  those files :D
Ofcourse, there are lots of soundbanks and samplepacks, like AKAIs for example. You could buy some or just be a pirate like me. However, it depends what exactly you need, maybe it is better to record whole stuff by yourself. For example, footsteps doesn't have to be actual footsteps, it could aswell be just a finger tapping against the table etc. Just be creative, you wouldn't believe which kind of realistic soundeffects can be created by using usual homefound materials!

Hmm, whats that certain show?

2 days to go, yay, maybe I'll manage to whoop something up even  :D
