Thinking that someone is less intelligent than you and avoiding them because of that, placing yourself to a higher level, is indeed arrogance, selfishness and ignorance.

When sprite has solid color bg that has enough contrast, you can turn it into a LaB format (in photoshop) and then its easier to handle color values. After everything is set, copy the LaB channels and level them to maximum contrast, then you can click 'make selection' button in CS2 and it automatically makes the selection, so it won't be so time consuming. Magnetic lasso is bad inaccurate and time consuming thing, at least use tablet and don't cut very detailed as you can just use the eraser afterwards. After you have cut it out, you can smudge edges, erase or paint where needed, which is better done with a tablet.

But to put raw photorealistic sprites into a game needs quite a lot of skill to get it good looking. Remember, photorealism has lot more details which start to catch eye really bad when light conditions change. At least smudge the sprites to as solid color as possible, loosing all the unneccesary pixels. The thing is also with the edges. You see, in photography, every color reacts to the surrounding enviornemnt, so when you put the sprite in different enviornment, it will look completely different and cut out. So you may also need to change the color of the edges a bit, or put a barely noticeable selective outline aka selout.

So, I don't think cutting it out is time consuming at all, it is actually the smallest part.

An interesting twist on this earthquake.    There are thousands of people who will drive cross country in the US to protest a silly torch in the name of the inhumane treatment of Tibet.     But what can any of us do for the victims of this earthquake?     Send money to Red Cross?    Say our sympathies?

The leaders of China actually responded to this earthquake very fast.   Compared to say Bush's two weeks to get around to Katrina.    I just think protesting a torch is a damned silly thing in the greater scope of things.

How do you mean protesting a tourch is silly? You think we should do something more? Yes, but what and how?

In Tibet, people CAN make a difference, but earthquake is pretty much unavoidable. We can only help people to recover from it, which is a different thing. Or should we protest against China that it didn't evacuate its people???
Lashing out into innocent joggers face may be stupid yes, but at least it brings attention.

One of my relatives was in Peking when the earthquake happened, walls shook, but luckily nothing else happened in there.

I never went to kindergarten, so I spent my childhood at home mostly. Played with other children outside, but I always felt they were more like the friends of others and I was just hanging with them... Before school, I thought it is really hard in there and was a bit scared. When I went to first grade, however, it was complete surprise and total dissapointment also. Easier than I thought, but people there acted just too unnatural, I just couldn't understand how someone could be so selfish. And this went on until the end, I didn't get what was wrong with people, so I just got used to that and started transformation to be like them, shifting from one type of group to another. Now I still feel like before, but have gotten cold, cautious and bitter, too arrogant, perhaps.

One thing that has always bothered me, is that people often se whats wrong with other people, but they lack the ability to see what caused it, and even what caused the cause. Its a mistake of me, of course, because one simply can't see everything.

Its not that people are naturally cold, they just act like this because they might not know how to be otherwise. One thing is what you do, other thing is what you think. Although the fact is, people are very selfish. They might feel something when this person has given them something or reminded something so that sparked their emotions, but when they have nothing to gain, they just move on. Those who don't, become the tools of others.

Another thing that can be learned, is that nice and friendly people might often be cold at the end. And those who are actually very cold, may be like this, because they need defence because otherwise they would care too much.

The truth is, though, that everything is subjective and therefore nothing is one sided. So, even the thought that someone is arrogant, IS actually arrogance because it is blaming.

I stare at the picture and I don't quite get what is going on in there. The left and right side seem to be unbalanced a bit, which gives me an impression that the buildings are in different scale. maybe put at least some small stuff to the left side as for better comparison and understanding of mass.
Currently the six big mushrooms aren't annoying, as they may be very large structures, but if you feel they don't fit in there, then its most certainly that you need to change them.
In this line mode you may also get slightly wrong impression, maybe you should try put in some values, you know, stuff going lighter at the back and darker, more crisp at the front. Also, in this picture, do you have some certain structure that definately must capture viewers interest?

General Discussion / Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

One German shop stated that PC version will be out in Nov the 23. But I doubt it. PS3 is still quite new and they don't want to lose their market for the PC yet.

As for me, I think its time to take up GTA III again.

Yeah, I'd like to see some stuff also. people want to know what your abilities are like.

There has been an idea in my head for some time now, along with an unfinished project. So there might be a good chance I am going to need some pro scripter some time. But my artwork can be seen when time is right.

You can't have it because I will have it.

General Discussion / Re: Gay, the insult
Sun 20/04/2008 17:02:43
Why gay people only talk about sex? I think the very good reason why gay marriage and adopted children in gay families is not good because for me, they have given the impression that their lifestyle revolves around sex. Yes, of course women and men flirt etc etc, but there aren't any men saying to woman in a bar that they should sit on their penis, unlike in gay bars...

But on topic.
Gay actually isn't a bad word. I believe it was used to describe something as funny. Its just that homos have taken over its meaning.

General Discussion / Re: I started a diet!

Yes, its pretty much the same for me. However, when I am not walking to school or back, I barely do any exercise. I am also a bit of underweight. Only at summers, i do lot of bike travelling or hiking, but I don't gain anything. Crap food i think.

10 bucks? Now when the dollar current has dropped,  it is only worth a bottle of vodka. I want a good whiskey!

Plus, I don't have a PayPal. I am used to draw everything on MS Paint also... But, then again, I am not ingenious and funny also.

Damn, I wish I were one of those people who needed a bit of diet... I have tried to gain weights for many times but always fail. I am just not used to eat too much.

MT, why am I unhappy? I feel like everything is going to hell and I don't have any motivation to do anything...

WTF is this thread for?

My grandfather was a plane mechanic in Russian army and he had to repair one of those top secret radiated planes. Needless to say he died in leukemia. Although it isnt 100% shure wether it was because of the radiaton or not.

Anyway, you ever heard about HAARP? That thing could destroy whole Earth through the ionosphere, you could control weather, and change the orbit of Earth by affecting the position and mass of the ionosphere. It was Nicola Teslas invention which both Russian and USA government took away,  it is proven that Russians experimented with it widely, but the thing has been kept so silent that noone knows what how far this is.

I'm really stuck on ideas, but i'm thinking of doing a star wars game, but it just makes fun of everything star wars is.

(replace Star Wars with James Bond, Harry Potter etc.)

Question: Would you play it?

No.

Piano rocks! Its a pity I never even started to learn it, so I can't play it at all.
Piano is sort of solo instrument that is just perfect for expressing emotions, it has those really high sharp tones and low and middle tones that make it very variable. Guitars or some trombones, etc aren't even half of that, they still sound a bit too narrow and have some noise in it. You can do all kinds of expressive experiments with guitar, but I think you still can't express emotions perfectly. There is always vocal, that is accompanied with a solo guitar, which is a crapy and all the same sounding mainstream in my opinion. But you can't put vocal over a good piano piece.
